CTC 354: Abstract Beauty Suite

Hi!

Hooray, it's time once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we have returned to the Mini Catalogue and are asking you to CASE a project from the Abstract Beauty Suite pages of the catalogue.

At the time I made my card I was waiting for the dies to arrive, so instead of waiting I decided to choose a card that didn't use the dies. I settled on the card below.

I really liked the strong diagonal line in this card, with the busier DSP at the bottom of the card. I didn't want to make a small card, so I had to translate the idea to a regular sized card. I also thought that it's been while since I've used my Sweet As A Peach stamp set (other than for the sentiments), so that's what I decided to use.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I chose my DSP for this card based on the original card - I tried to get a plainer pattern on top, with the busier pattern at the bottom. I used some retired ribbon to hide the join. A few rhinestones were added instead of the hearts on the original card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I stamped the peaches using both Pale Papaya and Calypso Coral ink. I inked the whole stamp with Papaya ink and then sponged some Coral ink along the sides. It's subtle, but I was pleased with the effect!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, You're A Peach DSP

The DSP panel I created for the front of the card was actually full sized before I cropped it. As you can see, I've used the left over frame on the inside of the card, along with another stamped peach.

It's very easy to join in with our challenge, you just need to upload a photo of your card into our Facebook Group. We'd love for you to play along.

But before you dash off, please do continue your way around our blog hop. The next stop is the very clever Julia Quinn, who has a sweet fancy fold card for you to see.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI 588: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. It's a Colour Challenge this week, suggested to us by Jan.

I really love the richer colours in this combo - don't you? When I think of Jade I think of lucky dragons, and so I decided to pull out my Uniquely Creative Lucky You stamp set and dies for my card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Lucky You, Sweet As A Peach, Lucky You Dies, Suit & Tie Dies, Pattern Party DSP, In Colour DSP, Stampin' Blends

There are lots of layers in this card! The bottom Misty Moonlight layer is DSP from the Pattern Party Host pack. The next DSP layer is Just Jade from the In Colour DSP pack. The sentiment strip is cut using a Suit & Tie Die. I added the Magenta Madness banner as I felt the top corner was a bit too empty.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Lucky You, Sweet As A Peach, Lucky You Dies, Suit & Tie Dies, Pattern Party DSP, In Colour DSP, Stampin' Blends

My dragon was coloured using my Stampin' Blends in the three challenge colours, plus a little touch of Bronze.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Lucky You, Sweet As A Peach, Lucky You Dies, Suit & Tie Dies, Pattern Party DSP, In Colour DSP, Stampin' Blends

I stamped the dragon again on the inside in Just Jade, alongside a sentiment from Sweet As A Peach.

We'd love to see what you do with this week's colours - they really are a fabulous combo. When you've made your card, just pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog where you can add it to the challenge. Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's cards, too.

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Pacific Point

 Hi!

It's Wednesday, which is not only hump-day but also Colour Creations Day. I know which one sounds nicer! This week we are looking at Pacific Point, a nice, vibrant blue from the Brights colour family.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet As A Peach, Pattern Party DSP, Brights DSP, Tailor Made Tags Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies

I decided to make a masculine card using Pacific Point this week. Nice and simple, no fuss, flowers or frills! The woodgrain DSP is from the Brights DSP pack, but I think it's from a retired pack.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet As A Peach, Pattern Party DSP, Brights DSP, Tailor Made Tags Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies

I was watching the Fourth Ashes Test while I was making this card, so I decided to colour each of the polka dots in the Pattern Party DSP using my Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker. You can see that I wasn't precise in my colouring, but that's the look I was going for.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet As A Peach, Pattern Party DSP, Brights DSP, Tailor Made Tags Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies

Another little strip of the DSP was used to finish off the inside.

Thanks for stopping by, but please do continue your way around our Blog Hop tonight. The next stop is the wonderful Kate Morgan. I wonder what she's done with this bright blue?

As always, the equally wonderful Catherine Proctor keeps us all organised, so if you have a problem with a broken link, just pop on over to her blog. You'll find a list of all participants there.

Just Us Girls 616

 Hi!

I thought I'd have another go at the Just Us Girls challenge. This week it's a snowman photo. Hmm. A bit hard to get into that groove when it's been 30°C and humid for most of the week here in South Australia. But a snowman is just a shaped lump of ice, right? The only shaped lump of ice I want in summer is an icy pole! Or a popsicle, for the Americans reading my blog.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Us Girls, Sweet Ice Cream, Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, Sale-A-Bration

I used the same colour combo - Pool Party, Real Red and Smokey Slate - on my card. The icy poles are from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set, as are the sentiments.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Us Girls, Sweet Ice Cream, Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, Sale-A-Bration

The paper is from the SAB DSP, Sunshine & Rainbows. I've used a side that's more neutral for this card.

Another icy pole finishes off the inside, and now I'm off to raid the freezer to see if I can dig one up to cool me down!

Freshly Made Sketches 519

 Hi!

Just a quick post today as I squeeze in at the last minute for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

An interesting sketch indeed! I had coloured some WaffleFlower Tooth Fairy images using Copic markers a while ago, so I decided to use one on my card today.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Freshly Made Sketches, WaffleFlower Tooth Fairy, JJ's Rainbow DSP, Ribbon Of Courage, Copic Markers

The DSP in the background is JJ's Rainbows DSP, cropped with a Stitched Rectangles Die and adhered to a Gold Foil card base.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Freshly Made Sketches, WaffleFlower Tooth Fairy, JJ's Rainbow DSP, Ribbon Of Courage, Copic Markers

Another Stitched Rectangle was used for the sentiment panel. I know the sketch is a square, but the rectangle worked better for me. You can't see in the photo, but the wings, stars, moon and clouds all have a swish of Wink Of Stella. The sentiment is from the retired Ribbon Of Courage stamp set.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Freshly Made Sketches, WaffleFlower Tooth Fairy, JJ's Rainbow DSP, Ribbon Of Courage, Copic Markers

A fairy needs a fairy door, right? I left the inside blank of a sentiment so that the card could be used for a variety of reasons.

Tina

CTC 353: CASE The SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

After a bit of a flick though the catalogue, I settled upon this daffodil card from page 5. I really loved the fancy border top and bottom and the layering in the card.

Apart from the Basic Borders Dies, I don't actually own any of the products used to create the catalogue card, so I had to think about suitable substitutes.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I thought that the Hand-Penned Petals set was a good substitute, although it works better on a landscape card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I used the Host DSP, Pattern Party on my card. The striped piece was coloured with Gorgeous Grape ink using a Blending Brush.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I used one of the DP offcuts on the inside of my card. After I'd glued it down I did think that I probably should have coloured it purple, too. Oh well!

Our challenge is run in our Facebook group. After you've finished hopping and you've made your card, jump on over to the group where you can upload a photo of your card. Get it in before next Sunday evening to be in the running. Can't wait to see what you make!

The next stop on our Blog Hop tonight is the lovely Julia Quinn. You certainly don't want to miss out on the gorgeousness to be found on her blog.

JAI 587: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Hooray for Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am! Hopefully weekend means crafty time for you and that you can join in with the new Just Add Ink challenge.

This week Chantell is challenging us to Choose Two to add to our cards. Will you add a fancy edge, a circle or some twine? I chose to add circles and a fancy edge or two to my card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Full Circle Vol 3 Heroes, You're Super, Pop Culture Card

I certainly have an abundance of circles on my card!! The background is a stamp set from Ink Road Stamps, called Full Circle Vol 3 Heroes. They are all individual stamps, but I used my Stamparatus upside down to stamp them all at once. What do I mean by that? I left the stamps on the backing sheet, laid it on the base of the Stamparatus. My cardstock was adhered to the flap so that I pushed the cardstock onto the stamps rather than the stamps onto the cardstock. It meant that I didn't have to fuss around lining up all 12 stamps, so it was much faster and easier. The stamped image was clear embossed on the cardstock.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Full Circle Vol 3 Heroes, You're Super, Pop Culture Card

While I had the embossing stuff out I also embossed the sentiment, which is from the Heroes stamp set. The superhero was coloured with a mix of Copics, Stampin' Blends and a Silver Metallic marker. I used Silver to match one of my fancy edges - the Silver Foil card base that I used. It's tricky to see the foil, as I photographed the card on a gloomy day.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Full Circle Vol 3 Heroes, You're Super, Pop Culture Card

My other fancy edge is the Stitched Dies I used - rectangles on the front and inside, and the circle on the front. The inside sentiment is from the Kindred Stamps set, called You're Super, as is the dude on the front.

We'd love to see which two you will choose for your card. You can enter our challenge by adding your card to the link on the Just Add Ink blog.

Tina

Colour Creations: Old Olive

 Hi!

Here we are, back again for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. Old Olive is the feature colour for this week's hop. I was a bit stumped on what to do for my card, so after a bit of a google search, I decided to CASE a card by Vicky Wright that used Forever Fern.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Forever Fern, Peaceful Moments, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Subtle 3DEF, Regals DSP

I kept my layout the same as Vicky's but changed a few other details, such as the DSP that I've used.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Forever Fern, Peaceful Moments, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Subtle 3DEF, Regals DSP

I really liked Vicky's arrangement of the Stitched Rectangle diecuts. The simplicity and symmetry is pleasing to me!

Once again, Peaceful Moments was my choice for the sentiments on my card.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do continue your way around our Blog Hop. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan, who is bound to have something gorgeous for you to see.

If you run into a problem like a broken or missing link, please pop on over to the fabulous Catherine Proctor's blog. She does such a wonderful job of keeping us all organised each week.

Just Us Girls 615

 Hi!

I'm sneaking in another challenge entry. Once again I found time to make a card while watching the Ashes cricket. Now that it's all over I may actually have to take down my Christmas decorations!

A google search for card challenges led me to Just Us Girls and their colour challenge. Blue, Silver and White is definitely a 'me' combo!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Showtime, Showtime Sentiments, Star Framelits, You're A Peach DSP, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

I still had my Kindred Stamps Showtime and Showtime Sentiments stamp sets out, and would you know it - one of the characters is blue! I coloured him with my Copics - I think B95 anda B97, with a random yellow for the feet.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Showtime, Showtime Sentiments, Star Framelits, You're A Peach DSP, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

I grabbed some You're A Peach DSP for the striped background. Hehe, I thought that the subtle Stars and Stripes look would be good for him - not that he's subtle!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Showtime, Showtime Sentiments, Star Framelits, You're A Peach DSP, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

And of course, I couldn't resist adding a few more Silver Foil stars on the inside.

Tina

CTC 352: CASE The Mini Catalogue

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by on your way around the CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. I hope you're finding plenty of inspiration along the way - I know that I do!

This week we are asking you to CASE any project from the new Mini Catalogue. Flicking though, this card from page 70 caught my eye.

I loved the use of DSP, and the punched sailboat as a silhouette at the front of the card. I chose to pull out a very dusty Cat punch - it's been a while since I've used it!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Biggest Wish, Pattern Party DSP, Cat Punch

I used the host Pattern Party DSP on my card. I'm really loving the mix of papers in the pack. I hadn't used the Crushed Curry floral pattern yet, but I thought it would make a great background for the cat.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Biggest Wish, Pattern Party DSP, Cat Punch

I love how the paper looks textured, even though it isn't! I used the awesome sentiment set, Biggest Wish, to finish off the front of the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Biggest Wish, Pattern Party DSP, Cat Punch

Another cat punched shape in Misty Moonlight and a strip of left over DSP completes the inside.

Will you play along with us this week? we'd love to see which project from the Mini that you will choose to CASE. When you've finished, just snap a photo and upload it to our Facebook group. Done!

Please jump on over to the next stop in our hop, which belongs to my wonderful friend, Rachel Palmieri. I wonder which card she's chosen to CASE?

Bye for now,

Tina
