Freshly Made Sketches 548

 Hi!

Just a quick post from me for today! I was saddened this week to hear of the passing of Olivia Newton-John, and so I wanted to make a card in her memory. When I saw the new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I had an idea.

I thought that the feature strip along the right edge could be a beam of light, shining down on her. I'll let you decide if it's a stage light or a heavenly light.

I used my Kindred Stamps Stage Builder Stencil for the light and it's puddle. It's just inked in So Saffron ink using a Blending Brush. The stamp set is also a Kindred Stamps product, called Electrifying. I coloured her with my Copic Markers.

I needed a card worthy of her magnificence, and a Double Z Fold fit the bill. I backed the card with some Be Dazzling paper, which is so amazingly sparkly IRL.

Here's the card fully open so that you can see the full effect of the three panels. Isn't it a fun tribute?

EDIT: How exciting, my card was chosen as a Princess this week!

CTC 381: Boughs Of Holly Suite

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Isn't it a great way to end the week?

This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Boughs Of Holly Suite on page 24 of the June-December Mini Catalogue.

I chose the card at the top left of the page. I really liked the combination of stamping, stencilling and die cuts to provide a layered card. I decided that I did not want to make a Christmas card, so instead I made a birthday card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Simply Fabulous, Forever Fern, Design A Daydream Host DSP, Forever Flourishing Dies, Be Dazzling SP

I started with the gorgeous paper from the Design A Daydream Host pack, and built up from there. My colour scheme is Mint Macaron, Old Olive and Petal Pink. I used my Forever Fern stamps to decorate the Stitched Rectangle die cut panel.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Simply Fabulous, Forever Fern, Design A Daydream Host DSP, Forever Flourishing Dies, Be Dazzling SP

The coordinating Forever Flourishing Dies were used to crop some Vellum and Be Dazzling paper to add to the mix. I love the combo of the subtle vellum with the bolder Be Dazzling paper. I used my Dark Petal Pink Blend to colour the White Seam Binding ribbon - a neat little trick when you don't have ribbon in the right colour!

I used Simply Fabulous for the sentiments on my card. I've only just purchased this stamp set, and it's getting a good workout already!

Your can join in our challenge by posting a photo of your Boughs Of Holly card in our Facebook group before the next blog hop on Sunday night.

Please continue your way around our Blog Hop. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Sandra Collett with a birthday card using classically gorgeous Christmas colours.

Bron's Birthday Blog Hop - August

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the second to last Birthday Blog Hop for Bronwyn Eastley, as she celebrates her 60th birthday. If you've followed Bron for a while, you know that she's the Queen of Fancy Fold cards. She creates the most amazing cards! Fittingly, this month's theme is Fancy Folds!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Be Dazzling SP, Twist And Pop Card

My daughter, Ada, celebrated her 17th Birthday last month, and she'd always talked about the ABBA song, Dancing Queen. I decided to make her card in this theme. The front pink panel was a download that I purchased from Etsy and printed to card front size. I then purchased a disco themed SVG bundle, which included the mirror ball. I used my Scan'n'Cut to crop it to size. I used a circle die to cut an opening in the pink panel so that the Be Dazzling paper would show through. I think it makes a fabulous mirror ball!

The inside of the card is where the Fancy Fold shines through - some more images from the disco SVG pack were used to decorate the Twist And Pop Fancy Fold. The text at the top was another Etsy purchase.

Here's a video so that you can see how the card opens up. Hopefully it works! I'm pleased to say that Ada loved it, and it has pride of place on her desk.

I wanted to get my money's worth out of the Etsy purchase, so she also got a custom made top. She hasn't worn it yet, but it will likely get an airing in summer.

And last, but not least, was the cake topper!

That's me done for tonight, but please do continue your way around our Blog Hop. There's also an Instagram Hop - you'll find the details over on Bron's blog. Next up though is my Kiwi friend, Jan Clothier.

CTC 348: CASE The Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks again for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This is our second last challenge for the yer before we take a short break over the Christmas/New Year period. It's a busy time of year, but I hope that you can find the time to join us.

This week we have chosen this card, from page 47 of the Mini Catalogue, to CASE. Here's a simplified version so that you can have a better look at the elements of the card.

I quite like the diagonal panel, and contemplated doing that clever technique where you make two cuts in a 6x6 piece of DSP and get enough of those panels for four cards. I can't think of the name - can you? In the end, though, I had a busy weekend and only had time to make one card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Dressed To Impress Bundle, Be Dazzling SP, Pattern Party Host DSP, Stampin' Blends

Are you the same as me and hoard the pretty paper while it's current and then don't use it until it's retired? Sigh. The Be Dazzling paper was like this for me!! I cut a 3 1/2" x 6" piece and then glued it to the Pattern Party Host DSP on the core angle. When dry, I just trimmed away the excess from the back. I used my Dressed To Impress Bundle to decorate the front.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Dressed To Impress Bundle, Be Dazzling SP, Pattern Party Host DSP, Stampin' Blends

The dazzling paper is delightfully sparkly, don't you think? The perfect match for the Dressed To Impress stamps!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Dressed To Impress Bundle, Be Dazzling SP, Pattern Party Host DSP, Stampin' Blends

I couldn't resist adding another strip of the Be Dazzling paper to the inside of the card - there can never be too much bling!

To join in with our challenge, all you need to do is join our Facebook group and post a photo of your card in the group before the Sunday evening deadline. It's that easy! We'd love to see what you make each week.

Next up is my lovely friend, Sandra Collett. She's made a gorgeous card, with a very fancy tilted panel!!

JAI 584: Just Add A Christmas Gift Tag

 Hi!

Thanks for again joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. As we inch ever closer to Christmas, we have decided to challenge you to make a Christmas gift card holder or tag - we all need plenty of those right now!

Every year I like to send a huge box of chocolates to my youngest son's school as a thanks for all their hard work. It's a very small special school, so they certainly work very hard with the kids all year. I decided to make an extra-large tag to attach to the chocolates.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Peace & Joy Bundle, Star Wreath Die, In Good Taste DSP, Be Dazzling SP, Christmas Tag

I started with a piece of In Good Taste DSP, which I cropped to 2 1/2 by 6 inches. I then used snips to shape the top and bottom edges into a more tag-like shape. Some Glittered Organdy ribbon was stapled to the top.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Peace & Joy Bundle, Star Wreath Die, In Good Taste DSP, Be Dazzling SP, Christmas Tag

The Star Wreath Die is from Uniquely Creative, and was used to cut some Green Foil. I layered it under some of the Be Dazzling SAB paper and the retired Joy Dies and Red Foil to finish it off. It's very sparkly!!

Please jump on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team gift tags and gift card holders. You can also link up your project in our challenge.

Tina

JAI 574: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Hey there! Are you ready for the new Just Add Ink challenge? This week Nikki has challenged us to Just Choose Two.

Hmmm, which two to choose? It's a tough choice, but in the end I went for Silhouettes and Stars on my card. I struggled for a long time to think about which products I owned that could be used for the silhouette part of the card, and then I remembered my Eat Your Heart Out stamp set from Ink Road Stamps.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Just Add Ink, Eat Your Heart Out, Electrifying, Label Me Bold, Be Dazzling SP, Pop Culture Cards

Do you recognise the hair silhouettes? I'm a huge fan of this movie (and it's sequel), but even the one at the bottom left stumped me! Who do you think it is? The stars on my card are from the retired Label Me Bold stamp set.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Just Add Ink, Eat Your Heart Out, Electrifying, Label Me Bold, Be Dazzling SP, Pop Culture Cards

I haven't played much with the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper, and now Sale-A-Bration is finished! I'm sure you'll be seeing more of it. This time, I coloured it with my Dark Basic Black Blend. It looks a lot like snake skin, I think! Colouring it is such a cool effect, and it doesn't lose any sparkle in the process.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Just Add Ink, Eat Your Heart Out, Electrifying, Label Me Bold, Be Dazzling SP, Pop Culture Cards

The sentiments I've used on the inside come from a Kindred Stamps set, called Electrifying. It goes with the Ink Road set perfectly, as they are based on the same fandom. Black and pink are iconic colours, so I've stuck with them for the whole card.

Now that I've told you more 😉 about my card, I'm flying out of here! I hope you're peachy keen, jelly bean, to join in with our challenge! You can link your card and see what the rest of the Design Team have created this week over on the Just Add Ink blog. See you there!

Tina

Heart Of Christmas Week 10

 Hi!

Hello to another Monday evening on the blog and a new Heart Of Christmas Blog Hop. We are up to Week 10, and it is my turn to host the Hop. I've had a very time poor few days leading up to the Hop, so unfortunately I don't have a group of Sheetload cards for your tonight, just a one-off design that I CASEd from Karen Hadler.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Heart Of Christmas, Words Of Cheer, Be Dazzling SP, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration, Christmas Card

Karen's card was square and featured the Delicate Dahlias stamp set alongside the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper - both Sale-A-Bration freebies until the end of the month.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Heart Of Christmas, Words Of Cheer, Be Dazzling SP, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration, Christmas Card

I've used my new Words Of Cheer stamp set, and coloured it with my Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Blends. How fabulous does the Dazzling paper look in the sunlight? I can't believe that this is the first time that I have used it!!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Heart Of Christmas, Words Of Cheer, Be Dazzling SP, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration, Christmas Card

Nice and simple on the inside! The card is a single layer, so I didn't want too much colouring with the Blends to bleed through to the back.

Pleas do continue your way around our Hop tonight. The AWH Team are a talented bunch, so you're in for a treat! Next up is Rosa Leydon, who always has something lovely to see.

If you find a broken link along the way, you can come back to my blog for the full list of participants. You'll find a link to my blog at the end of everyone's posts.
