Colour Creations: Tahitian Tide

Hi!

Welcome to the final blog hop in the 2023-24 Colour Creations series. I can't believe that, once again, we have hopped our way through all of the colours in the Stampin' Up! range. We are finishing with one of my favourites. -Tahitian Tide. It's a lovely, bright blue that is, sadly, about to retire. I haven't used it anywhere near enough!

Also retiring, and also not used anywhere near enough, is the On The Ocean stamps and dies. They will certainly remain as a permanent part of my stamp collection. As will Rays Of Light, another retiring stamp that I have used as my background on this card. I love the way it can be used to draw your eye to a specific part of a design.

I had fun making the waves for the card. I cropped a piece of Whisper White using the solid wave die, and then inked both of the parts with Tahitian Tide ink. I left the tops of the waves white to give the effect of the breaking waves. I also cropped some Tahitian Tide, backed with Adhesive Sheet, using the outline wave die. The three layers look fantastic together!

I stamped a similar scene on the inside of the card, instead of using die cuts like on the front. The set is so versatile to allow both! I believe that the stamps and dies are around half price in the Last Chance sale, so snap them up if you're keen!

The next stop on tonight's Blog Hop is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I can't wait to see what she's made.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Cathy Proctor for keeping us going with the blog hops. We'll be back next week with Peach Pie, one of the new In Colours, to kick off the new year of Colour Creations.  In the meantime, pop on over to her blog if you you run into any issues with the links on tonight's hop. Cathy will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Boho Blue

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the start of the 2023-24 Colour Creations Blog Hops. I didn't think I'd be able to join in this week, as we are starting with the new In Colours and silly me forgot to order anything! Thankfully my wonderful friend (and fellow hopper) Andrea Sargent came to my rescue with some In Colour products for me. She's a gem!

We are starting this week with Boho Blue - or should I say 'Yo Ho Blue'? LOL! On The Ocean, with it's pirate ship, was the only choice for me this week! I was soooo happy when the bundle carried over to the new Annual Catalogue so that I get to use it for a whole year longer.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Timber 3DEF

I used some of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP for the background of my scene. As soon as I looked at it, I thought that it looked like clouds in the sky. A bit of stamped ocean on the bottom, and birds in the sky, and I have an easy-peasy background for my ship. I think that the DSP might be more Azure Afternoon than Boho Yo Ho Blue, but along with Night Of Navy, they work together well.

A little more stamping finished off the inside nicely. While you continue your way around the hop, I'm off to order some of the new In Colour stuff!

The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous card or two. The hops are always a surprise for us, too - we don't share before the hop.

And, as always, the wonderful Cathy Proctor is keeping us all organised. If you run into any issues with links, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's hoppers to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

CTC 461: Retiring Mini Catalogue Project

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. We are right in the thick of two catalogues finishing up, so this week we are asking you to case your favourite project from the retiring Mini Catalogue.

There are a lot of awesome projects in the Mini Catalogue, but I've been wanting to CASE this card, using On The Ocean, for a long time. Today was the day!

This bundle was the top of my use-have list when the catalogue went live, and I'm so thrilled that it's carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue. I get a whole 'nother year to play with it!

I was very time poor this week (it's school holidays here!), so I didn't change much about the original card. I forgot to stamp the sentiment before I adhered the ocean and the ship, so my greeting was popped up over the scene at the end.

My other change was the ocean - I don't have the DSP that was used for the catalogue sample. To replicate the look, I just dragged my Balmy Blue inkpad over a piece of Whisper White cardstock before cropping it with the wavy die. The second layer was just the water stamp used multiple times with Balmy Blue ink over Whisper White cardstock. The final layer was just plain old Balmy Blue cardstock. Easy!

The inside was nice and easy, just the boat stamped again and some leftover ocean pieces from the front. It doesn't get easier than that!

We'd love for you to join in with our challenge. You just need to join our Facebook Group if you aren't already a member, and then add a photo of a card you've made that CASEs a favourite project from the about to retire Mini Catalogue.

Please continue your way around our hop, by jumping on over to the blog of my lovely friend, Kathryn Mangelsdorf. I adore the card she's made!

CTC 408: Mini Catalogue Bundle Section

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Each week we like to challenge you to CASE a project from a section of one of Stampin' Up!'s catalogues and post a photo of your card to our Facebook Group.

This week, we are asking you to CASE from the Bundles Section of the current Mini Catalogue, from pages 76-83. I chose this cutie from page 81. I really liked the three strips in the background that create a little scene for the bunny and kite.

If you've been following my blog for the past couple of weeks, you'd know that I'm currently obsessed with the On The Ocean bundle. Today's card was another great opportunity to create with it.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Horizon Dies, Masculine Card

For my background, I used the same concept as the bunny card, but for my card I created the sea, the land and the sky. The hill was from the retired Horizon Dies, but you could easily fussy cut the curves if you didn't have this die. The sea and clouds were dies from the On The Ocean Dies. Actually, the sea piece was the offcut from one of my previous cards. I don't like to waste anything!

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Horizon Dies, Masculine Card

I wanted to keep my card fairly simple this time, so instead of the usual double layer of sails on my card, I opted to colour the mast sections with my Dark Crumb Cake Blend, and then use a sponge to ink the edges of the sails. The Coastal Cabana flag helps to tie in the colour from the sea.

I made a second ship for the inside of the card. I really am having a lot of fun with this bundle!

We'd love for you to join us in CASEing the Catty. As I mentioned earlier, just make a card that fits the challenge criteria and upload a photo to our Facebook Group. It's so easy - the hardest part is deciding which project to CASE.

I'm the last stop on this week's Blog Hop, so if you started in the Facebook group, you are done! If you started somewhere in the middle, please keep on going until you get back to where you started. The next blog for you to visit belongs to my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri.

Colour Creations: Pumpkin Pie

 Hi!

Welcome back for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Pumpkin Pie week. I can't remember a time as an SU demo without Pumpkin Pie - so it's been around a long time!

Brian King teamed it up with Starry Sky and Daffodil Delight. This combo, along with my obsession with the On The Ocean bundle, made me think of a fiery sunset over the sea.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I started by stamping Rays Of Light onto Whisper White cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink and then inking over the top with Daffodil Delight ink. I left a little white halo around the sun, and then stamped some of the birds from On The Ocean over the top using Memento ink. I also inked the bottom of the cardstock with Starry Sky ink. It works beautifully as the far horizon.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I cropped the boat in black, as I wanted it to be like a silhouette against the blazing sun. The foreground ocean was stamped and fussy cut, and then popped up over the top of everything else.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used the inked up Rays Of Light stamp on the inside of my card too. I didn't reink the stamp after stamping the front, I just laid part of my card over the image and gently rubbed my fingers over the card to pick up the ink. The softer look was exactly what I wanted for the inside of my card.

That's all from me tonight, but please do continue your way around our Pumpkin Pie hop tonight. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, who will gave a gorgeous cards or two for you to see.

My wonderful friend, Cathy Proctor, keeps us all organised, and if you find yourself with a broken link, she can get you organised, too. Just Pop on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

JAI 640: Just Add A Surprise

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by! Today I have for you the new Just Add Ink Challenge, which was suggested by Fiona. We are asking you to Just Add A Surprise.

I recently purchased the On The Ocean bundle, and straight away had an awesome idea on how to use it for this challenge. I was thinking of the closing scenes of one of my childhood favourite movies, The Goonies.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Enjoy The Journey DSP, Sassy Club Treasure Hunters, Ink Road Stamps I Smell Ice Cream

I delved into my pop culture stamps for the card, using Sassy Club's Treasure Hunters for the character, and Ink Road Stamps I Smell Ice Cream for the sentiment. The cliff that Chunk is standing in front of was watercolored using Easy Espresso ink. You may notice a little pull tab on the right of the card...

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Enjoy The Journey DSP, Sassy Club Treasure Hunters, Ink Road Stamps I Smell Ice Cream

Which reveals One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship, the Inferno, sailing off into the sunset! Hehe, I had such fun making this card!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Enjoy The Journey DSP, Sassy Club Treasure Hunters, Ink Road Stamps I Smell Ice Cream

I used the same stamp sets to create my writing panel on the back of the card. I know exactly who is going to get this card - and she will love it!

I hope that you can play along with us this week. What kind of surprise will you add? A slider, like me? Maybe a pop up section, or a hidden message? You imagination is the limit! Jump on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll see what surprises the rest of the Design Team have for you. You can link up your card in the challenge there too.

Tina

Colour Creations: Poppy Parade

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at Poppy Parade, one of my favourite reds.

I liked this nautical colour combo from Brian King, and as I had just received the new On The Ocean bundle, I was all set!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

I have coveted this bundle ever since I saw it in the catalogue - it reminds me of one of my all time favourite childhood movies, The Goonies. For this card though, I decided to go a little more generic pirate. I started by stamping some of the waves on the bottom of the Pool Party Stitched Rectangle. I fussy cut along the line, and then stamped more waves on the bottom of the main piece. The cropped piece was then layered over the rest of the rectangle, popped up on Dimensionals. The pirate ship was tucked in between the layers, so that there are waves both in front and behind the ship.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

To bring more Poppy Parade into the card (as the feature colour!!), I cropped the skull and crossbones for the sails of the ship. I'm contemplating adding a flag to the top of the ship with a stamped skull and crossbones, too.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

A little more stamping on the inside finished off the card. I can see myself having a lot of fun with this bundle!

My lovely friend, Andrea Sergeant, is the next stop on our Blog Hop tonight. Please jump on over to her blog, where I'm sure there's something magnificent to be seen!

As always, the wonderful Cathy Proctor keeps us all organised. She has a list of all of tonight's participants on her blog, so if you come across a broken link, just jump on over to her blog to get back on track.
