Colour Creations: Pool Party

 Hi!

Welcome to Pool Party week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's a lovely soft blue-green colour that I quite like. Much better than Petal Pink! I recently purchased the Lighter Than Air DSP and Everyday Details Dies, so I was keen to use them on my card.

I love the way that the detail from the die frames the art panel. The large spots are fabulous! I cropped the Lighter Than Air DSP in such a way that I could feature the Pool Party  hot air balloon in the centre of the frame. It looked a bit plain, so I cropped the same balloon from a second sheet and popped it up over the top.

I tried to double cut some cardstock using the dies for the sentiment panel, but I couldn't quite get it to work. Nested Essentials Dies to the rescue! A left over scrap of shimmery ribbon and a Rainbow Dot finished off the front of the card.

I used a left over strip of the DSP to decorate the inside of the card. The sentiments that I've used are from the Timeless Greetings kit. Don't forget those kit stamp sets!

Please keep making your way around our hop tonight until you get back to your starting point. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I can't wait to see what she's made.

Colour Creations: Lost Lagoon

 Hi!

Welcome to the latest Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's been a while since I've been able to play along, but Lost Lagoon is one of my favourite ever colours, so I made a huge effort to get a card made this week for the hop.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Timeless Greetings Kit, Hello Irresistible DSP, Pattern Party DSP, Nested Essentials Dies

Having said that, I don't particularly like my card! I think I'm just a bit lot rusty, as I haven't done much card making recently. I decided to use my Timeless Greetings Card Kit stamp set as the feature for the card.

To get the solid circle behind the clock face, I just flipped the stamp and used it like a reversible stamp. I popped a foam mat underneath, just to make sure that it stamped the whole circle cleanly. Then I cleaned it, flipped it back and stamped the clock over the top using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Easy!

The DSP I used was from the Hello, Irresistible pack, plus a black and white scrap that I found on my desk. It's good to use things up so they don't float around on your desk forever!

The next stop in tonight's hop is my lovely friend, Christine Blain.

Colour Creations: Crumb Cake

 Hi!

Welcome to Cajun Craze week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Hahahaha, are you confused? It's actually Crumb Cake week, but my card started looking like it should have been made for Cajun Craze week instead. I had to do some fancy work to get it looking more Crumb Cake and less Cajun Craze!

I started out using some bits and pieces from my Timeless Greetings Kit. I'd made a card using bits in the past, which left me with the angular black piece on the left of my card. I also had the speckled Crumb Cake piece. I didn't want to layer it over more Crumb Cake, so I used a Cajun Craze card base. As I started layering, I realised I'd gone too far over to Cajun Craze territory. Luckily, the Crumb Cake strips brought it right back into more acceptable levels of Crumb Cake.

These motorbike dies are so much fun! I used Basic Black, Basic Grey, Cajun Craze and Silver Foil for the layers. I hoped that the speckled paper made it look like it was driving out in the desert, maybe?

I had a narrow strip of the speckled paper left for the inside. Because it was too short to go the whole way across the card panel, I cut the end at an angle. Hopefully it doesn't look like the bike is about to go off the edge of a cliff!

You're now heading off to see what my wonderful friend, Rachel Palmieri has created. I can't wait!

Colour Creations: Sahara Sand

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are on the downhill run now with the colours! This week it's Sahara Sand's turn to shine. It's a tricky colour to describe - sort of a greenish, brownish gray, maybe? Either way, it's a great Neutral.

Brian King used it in a colour combo that makes me think of some Christmas papers that we had a couple of years ago. Lots of plaid and deer! I didn't use it to make a Christmas card - I'm not quite in that headspace yet.

I had to think very hard about how I could let this colour shine - it's usually a supporting or background colour. By using very small amounts of the other two colours, I think I succeeded in making it the hero colour.

Watercolour World was the perfect choice for a very neutral coloured card. I paired it with the stamp set from a new kit, Timeless Greetings. The sentiment works perfectly with the globe stamp.

I used the globe stamp from the kit on the inside of my card. I'm not convinced that it works here - it's maybe a bit too blobby? What do you think?

The next stop in our Blog Hop tonight is my lovely friend, Michele Taylor. She's a huge fan of Sahara Sand, so I can't wait to see what she's made with it.

If you run into any problems with links, please jump on over to Cathy Proctor's blog. As Always, she'll have a list of all of tonight's participants and will help get you back on track. She's a gem!

Colour Creations: Pool Party

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's Pool Part week! Doesn't that sound like a fun colour? I like it!

Speaking of liking colours, I asked in the AWH Facebook group last week what were people's favourite and least liked colours. Cajun Craze came up a lot - it's a love it or hate it colour! When it was one of the options for a colour combo for this week's card, I decided to use it. Cajun Craze is not a colour that I use a lot, but I did like how it works with this combo.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Rugged Icons Dies, Design A Daydream Host DSP, Timeless Greetings Kit

LOL, I've had this sentiment scrawled on my grid paper for weeks, waiting for an opportunity to use it. Rugged Icons was the perfect choice to go with it. I cropped the letters from Cajun Craze card (backed with Adhesive Sheet) using my new Alphabet A La Mode Dies. The fishing pole is cropped from Whisper White with Adhesive Foam to give it dimension.

The background paper is from the Design A Daydream Host DSP. I used the birds, because they always seem to be around when there's fishing happening. Probably hoping for a free meal!

I had a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock with Adhesive Sheet left over from cropping the letters, so I used it for a partial fishing pole for the inside. Hopefully it doesn't look too strange! The stamped sentiment is from the Timeless Greetings Kit.

It's time to jump into the next pool (it's hot in Adelaide today, so a dip would be heavenly! LOL). The party continues over on the wonderful Kate Morgan's blog.

The head lifeguard, keeping us all on track, is the fabulous Cathy Proctor. Jump on over to her blog if you find a problem with a link - she'll have a list of all bloggers for the hop there.

CTC 403: CASE The SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Isn't it a great way to end the weekend - or start your week - depending on your perspective?

This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. The catalogue may be tiny, but there's a lot of inspiration to be found.

I found this fun card on page 15. I really liked the diagonal lines in the card and the circular focal point. In thinking about how to recreate the card, my newish Timeless Greetings Kit with the globe and the pocket watch came to mind.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Timeless Greetings Kit

I cropped one of the card bases for the topmost piece of DSP on my card. I inked around it with Crumb Cake ink to help it stand out from the Crumb Cake card base. The bottom black check plate print DSP was cut on an angle and popped up over the top. I cut one of the Cajun Craze sentiment mats in half longways to use as the feature strip on top of the black. The join in the two halves is hidden under the globe!

Isn't this sentiment great? It fits with the globe element perfectly. It didn't fit on the angle, so I popped it on the card straight.

Some of the smaller left over paper scraps from the front of the card were put to great use on the inside of my card. Waste not, want not!

To play along with us, all you need to do is add a photo of your card that CASEs a card from the SAB Catalogue to our Facebook group. Easy!

We'd love for you to continue on with the blog hop, the next stop along the way is the lovely Peta Stephen with a gorgeous card in some of my favourite colours.
