Royally Unscripted Clockworks

Hi!

I haven't had a lot of time lately for entering challenges, but with the slower pace of summer holidays I thought I'd enter a few.  The two that jumped out at me were the sketch at Unscripted Sketches and the colour combo at Stampin' Royalty. I combined them to create this card.

I thought the two challenges combined were a great masculine card. The bottom layer was some DSP from the Comfort Cafe pack. I collage stamped the Crumb Cake layer with stamps from the Clockworks stamp set. I then spritzed over the whole lot with my Colour Spritzer and Soft Suede marker.

I stamped the inside in a similar manner to the front of the card. The sentiment is from the retired Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Well, that's it. I'm hoping to find a bit more time to enter some more challenges this year.

Bye for now,

Distressed Doilies

Hi!

I decided to kick start off the New Year with a few challenges.  One of the ones I looked at was Unscripted Sketches.  It's been a while since I've played along with them, life just gets too busy sometimes!

I quite liked the sketch this week, but I don't think I followed it completely.  Instead of a solid block at the bottom I chose to stamp my sentiment on vellum and fold it around the layer to attach it to the card.  For the stamped panel I took some Pink Pirouette, stamped it with the doilies in Soft Suede and then distressed the panel with Tea Stain ink from my new Distressing Essentials kit.  I think I need a little more practice with the distressing, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

More distressing on the inside, but more of a halo around the edges so there is plenty of room to write my message to the recipient.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess)
Ink: Soft Suede, Tea Stain (from the Distressing Essentials kit)
Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Vellum
Other: Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Jewels Pearls, Dimensionals, Distressing Ink Applicator, Paper Snips

Bye for now,

Tina

Grungy Birthday Card

Hi!

Today's card was made for a workmate of Rob's.  A male workmate.  Which meant a male card. Sigh...  They are soooo hard to make.  Thankfully Stampin' Up! has released the Well Worn DSP, which makes male cards a lot easier.  And when you have a great sketch to work with, like the current challenge at Unscripted Sketches, it's even easier!

I wanted to emphasise the grungy look of the DSP and continue it through onto the plain cardstock.  To do this I used one of the 'filler' stamps from the Simply Soft stamp set as a background stamp.  I never would have thought to do this - thanks to Nikki Sadler for the idea!

Just a different angle of the front of the card.  The Motorcycle panel is popped up on Dimensionals.

And the inside of the card.  I carried through the look from the front by using more DSP and stars.

Stamps: Simply Soft, Curly Cute, Motorcycle (retired)
Ink: Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy
DSP/Cardstock: Well Worn DSP, Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy, River Rock
Other: Artichoke Denim Ribbon, Small Star Punch (retired), Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals

Pun Fun You're A Blast

Hi!

I'm back with another male card.  This time I went with the sketch at Unscripted Sketches.  They are doing a Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop this week as well as their challenge, so why not pop on over and have a look?  Here's their sketch this week:

Here's the card I came up with, once again using the bright and cheerful Celebrations DSP.

I love the combination of spots and stripes in the DSP!

Stamps: Pun Fun, Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Real Red
DSP/Card Stock: Celebrations DSP, Real Red, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Other: Paper Snips, Real Red Brad

Catch you later - hopefully on our mini blog hop tomorrow!

Sense Of Time

Hi!

Once again I had some unexpected crafting time today as Rob took the kids out for the afternoon.  They were making the most of the last day of school holidays by going to see Despicable Me.

I decided to use the latest sketch at Unscripted Sketches for inspiration.

Tilted panels are a bit out of my comfort zone, but I gave it my best shot.  I decided to make a masculine card using some stamped images I've had sitting on my desk for a while.  I have a limited stash of DSP at the moment so I had to use some of my retired DSP for the card.  Here it is:

It's a little hard to see in the photo, but I sponged Chocolate Chip ink lightly over the Very Vanilla sections to give them a bit of an aged look.
Stamps: Sense Of Time
Ink: Chocolate Chip
DSP/Card Stock: Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP (retired), Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Other: Sponge Dauber, Paper Snips, Brown Brads

For Everything in Pear Pizzazz

Hi!

I thought I'd try out the sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches.  I hadn't ever seen their blog before, but my friend Gardenia has just joined their DT, so I wandered over to take a look.  Here's their current sketch:

And here's my card.  I used the new Hostess DSP pack as the basis of the card.  I love that Stampin' Up! have used the new In Colours for this paper, and the patterns they have used this year are super cute.

I've also used the new Organza ribbon - which is just lovely!

Stamps: For Everything
Ink: Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz
DSP/ Card Stock: In Colour DSP Pack (Hostess), Concord Crush, Whisper White
Other: 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Stamp Positioner
