Colour Creations: Pool Party

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's Pool Part week! Doesn't that sound like a fun colour? I like it!

Speaking of liking colours, I asked in the AWH Facebook group last week what were people's favourite and least liked colours. Cajun Craze came up a lot - it's a love it or hate it colour! When it was one of the options for a colour combo for this week's card, I decided to use it. Cajun Craze is not a colour that I use a lot, but I did like how it works with this combo.

LOL, I've had this sentiment scrawled on my grid paper for weeks, waiting for an opportunity to use it. Rugged Icons was the perfect choice to go with it. I cropped the letters from Cajun Craze card (backed with Adhesive Sheet) using my new Alphabet A La Mode Dies. The fishing pole is cropped from Whisper White with Adhesive Foam to give it dimension.

The background paper is from the Design A Daydream Host DSP. I used the birds, because they always seem to be around when there's fishing happening. Probably hoping for a free meal!

I had a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock with Adhesive Sheet left over from cropping the letters, so I used it for a partial fishing pole for the inside. Hopefully it doesn't look too strange! The stamped sentiment is from the Timeless Greetings Kit.

It's time to jump into the next pool (it's hot in Adelaide today, so a dip would be heavenly! LOL). The party continues over on the wonderful Kate Morgan's blog.

Colour Creations: Merry Merlot

Thanks for stopping by on our Colour Creations Merry Merlot Blog Hop. As the name suggests, it's a deep burgundy/red that's part of the Neutral colour family.

I really liked this colour combo from Brian King. It screams 'nautical' to me, but as I don't have any stamps in that theme, I had to think a bit harder about what to do.

Rugged Icons to the rescue! I used a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet on the back of some Very Vanilla cardstock before cropping it with the beard die. It adds such lovely dimension, and is way less fiddly than trying to add foam adhesive later.

For my background, I embossed some Vanilla card with the Timber 3DEF, and then used a Blending Brush to add some Merry Merlot ink over the top. Finally, I added some splatters in Night Of Navy.

This time, I just added some Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Merry Merlot cardstock before cropping with the beard die. I love the way that the beard wraps around the sentiment!

The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Theresa Gerrard. I can't wait to see what she's done with Merry Merlot.

CTC 389: Annual Catalogue Bundle

It's time once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Our challenge works by asking you to CASE different aspects of Stampin' Up!'s catalogues. CASEing is a great way to spark your creativity.

This week we are asking you to CASE a card from the Bundles Section of the Annual Catalogue. In flicking through the section, I discovered that I don't own a single bundle from the catalogue! I'm not quite sure how that happened, so I had to think extra creatively this week.

I ended up choosing this butterfly card from page 161. I really liked the white die cuts layered over the stripes of coloured cardstock. They really pop against the colour.

I recently purchased the Rugged Icons Dies, after my fellow CTCer, Rachel, posted some fabulous masculine cards using them. I thought that this card was a great opportunity to use them. After much debate I went for the mountains die - although I see pyramids every time I look at it! I'm sure they are meant to be mountains, as I don't think there are trees like that around the pyramids.

I layered some Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue cardstock on some copy paper before cropping it with the largest hexagon in the Beautiful Shapes Dies. I applied some Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Whisper White card and cropped it with the Rugged Icons die before adhering it to the hexagon.

I used a second die cut, in Balmy Blue, to decorate the inside. The sentiments are from the stamp set that's in the Light The Candles kit.

JAI 623: Just Add Colour

Thanks again for joining me on a Friday for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have a colour combo for you, suggested to us by Di Barnes.

Isn't it fabulous? I love the mix of bright colour from the new 2022-24 In Colour range. I initially had thoughts of making a floral card with this combo, but I ended up going in a completely different direction!

The colours are so bold, I wanted to see how they'd pop against a black background. Boy, do they ever!! The white guitar, cropped using the Rugged Icons Dies, is a nice contrast.

The panel using the coloured cardstock was made using scraps from my stash. I can't recall the name, but I used the technique where you adhere the cardstock to a Window Sheet, crop it, and pop it up on Dimensionals so that it looks like it's floating. In this case, I used the largest Stylish Shapes square die.

Some left over scraps of card were used on the inside. Both sentiments on my card are from the retired Music From The Heart, but they fit well with the musical theme of my card.
