All A Flutter Fluttering Away

Hi!

Today I have another card featuring a stamp that is retiring at the end of the month.  I'm a little sad because it is a favourite of mine, but I am also very excited because it means that there a a whole bunch of new products debuting in the new Idea Book and Catalogue.  If you want to get your hands on this fabulous stamp it is a bargain at just $12.95, but get in quick as it is only available while stocks last!

I CASED this card from Beate Johns, a very talented cardmaker.  She used flowers on hers, but I wanted to use butterflies.  I liked the effect of not using the complete butterfly image on each square panel.

Stamps: All A Flutter, Great Friend (both of which are retiring at the end of the month!)
Ink: Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist
DSP/Cardstock: In Colour Hostess DSP (also retiring), Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Other: Corner Rounder Punch, Blender Pen, Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals, Paper Piercer

Stamp A Memory August Challenge: Celebrations

Hi!

Today's layout is my design team submission for the latest Stamp A Memory challenge.  Stamp A Memory is celebrating it's second birthday, so the challenge for you is to scrap a layout about a celebration.  My layout is not based on a typical celebration - it was about me finding a new pair of red shoes.  I had worn red shoes to my wedding reception nearly 10 years ago.  They lasted another year or so until they fell apart.  I hadn't been able to find a new pair that were 'right' until earlier this year.  So of course, I was celebrating!

The title for my layout is "My sisters call me... Dorothy".  I added the text to the photo using Photoshop CS5.  The photo itself was taken on a recent sunny day.  I went outside, lay on my back with my legs in the air and took some photos.  I hope my neighbours weren't peeking over the fence that day!

I used white Stazon ink to stamp the flourish from Creative Elements several times in the top corner to act as a backdrop for the flowers and butterflies.  The butterflies were also stamped in white Stazon on a window sheet, then cut out with my trusty paper snips.  The flower was brayered with Pacific Point Ink.  I also stamped the flourish above the photo on the right hand side of the layout where the other two butterflies rest.  You can see a close up of that section on the Stamp A Memory blog.

Stamps: All A Flutter, Creative Elements (from the upcoming Idea Book and Catalogue)
Ink: White Stazon, Riding Hood Red Stampin' Write Marker, Pacific Point
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red 12x12 Textured, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Window Sheet
Other: Whisper White and Night Of Navy Satin Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, 1/16" Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Paper Snips, Basic Jewel Rhinestones, Clear Round Rhinestone Brad, Paper Daisies, Brayer, Glue Dots
Digital: Photoshop CS5

Can't wait to see the celebrations you scrap for the challenge at Stamp A Memory!

Just Add Ink #59 and Exciting News!

Hi!

I have some exciting news today - I have been asked to be a Guest Designer on Just Add Ink!  I'm so excited!  I can't wait to see what they have in store for me.  Thanks so much to Delys and Bron and the rest of the JAI team for the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a fantastic team.

Today's card is for their current challenge, which is a sketch challenge.  You can see the sketch here.

I love all the soft pinks in this card.  I used the Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP as the main base for the card, and went with the coordinating colours for the rest of the card.

To create the main panel I stamped the All A Flutter butterfly twice in Rose Red, masked it and then stamped En Francais over the top in Pretty In Pink ink.

I was about to assemble the pieces of the card when I took another look at the sketch.  I had forgotten a layer, so I decided to add the scalloped section.

To create the larger scallops I punched a 1 1/4" circle and traced it on the cardstock.  I then cut along the lines and sponged the edges for a bit of pop.

Stamps: All A Flutter, En Francais, Great Friend
Ink: Rose Red, Pretty In Pink
DSP/Cardstock: Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP, Rose Red, Very Vanilla
Other: Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Paper Snips, Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Stamp Positioner, 1 1/4" Circle L Punch

Helping Hudson Thank You Cards

Hi!

I thought it was about time I showed you the cards I sent out to the wonderful ladies who contributed tutorials to the Helping Hudson fundraiser.  As I had  lot to make I needed to keep the design fairly simple but still very pretty.  I based the design on the card on page 111 of the current Idea Book and Catalogue.

I liked the idea of all the thank you's on the front of the card, I feel like I can't say thank you enough!

I made a One Sheet Wonder of Blushing Bride card stock stamped with the All A Flutter and Dreams De Jour butterflies which I then spritzed with my favourite Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint mixed with Isocol.  I love the subtle shimmery effect.

Stamps: Curly Cute, Basic Phrases, Happy Moments (2010 SAB set), Just Believe, All a Flutter, Dreams De Jour
Ink: Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Stamp Positioner, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint

All A Flutter Birthday Card

Hi!

Today's card is for a very special woman - my mother-in-law.  It's her birthday tomorrow and so I needed to make her a card.  I've also decided to enter it in Just Add Ink's challenge, which is to Just Add Birthdays.

I chose the colour combination of Marina Mist, Perfect Plum and Sahara Sand, which I think looks quite pretty together.  I have had the All A Flutter butterfly stamp for a little while, but I hadn't even mounted it until I made this card.  I love this little butterfly and I can see myself using it lots.

The butterfly is popped up on a Dimensional to give it a bit of a lift.  And isn't that satin ribbon so lovely?

Stamps: All A Flutter, Baroque Motifs, Perfect Punches
Ink: Perfect Plum, Marina Mist
Card Stock: Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Other: 5/8" Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, Marina Mist Designer Button, Scallop Edge Border Punch, 2" x 1 3/8" (Wide) Oval XL Punch, Stamp Positioner, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Paper Snips, Embroidery Floss

Wow! I've stuck to my new routine for 2 days in a row. I managed to get a card made and also to finish a layout today while Hudson was sleeping. I can't show you the layout - it's for the next Art With Heart Blog Hop so you'll have to pop back on the 7th August to see it. I hope you come back before that though as I have some big news soon!

Here's the card I made today. It's for a little girl who's about to turn 6. I also made her a mini album, but that's also for another post!

Ink: Black Stazon, Rich Razzleberry
DSP/Card Stock: Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
Other: Paper Snips, Scallop Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Rich Razzleberry 5/8" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

All A Flutter

Hi!

As some of you may know, we've been having issues with our gas supply this week. As a result we had no hot water for 3 days. Hot water's kinda crucial when you have children! Thankfully my neighbour and very dear friend allowed us to go to her house to use her bathroom. The kids thought it was great fun, as they got to use their torches to go next door. It was a real adventure for them, but a real pain for the grown ups!

I decided to make my friend a card to go with a box of chocolates as a thank you for her kindness, which was very much appreciated. I don't know what we would have done without her! Here's the card:

I was able to have a play with some of my new things as I was making this card: Polka Dot Background stamp, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and Melon Mambo ink. I'm so glad Melon Mambo is going to be one of the core colours come September. I think it gets a bit overlooked by the very popular Rich Razzleberry, but it is a fabulous colour and well worth adding to your colour collection.

Stamps: All A Flutter (Autumn Winter Mini), Polka Dot Back Ground Stamp
Ink: Melon Mambo
Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Watercolour Paper
Other: Aqua Painter, Whisper White Satin Ribbon, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Chit Chats Rub On (retired from Summer Mini), Dimensionals
