JAI 699: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a colour challenge for you, suggested to us by Di.

I really love this combo, and I feel like, depending on how you use the colours, it could be either masculine or feminine. This is a bit of a last hurrah for Starry Sky, as it retires at the end of the month.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Amazing Phrasing, Number Of Years, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Stitched Stars Dies

My oldest son recently turned 21, and so he needed a special card. I decided to make a Double Z Fold card for him. On the front I stamped a combination sentiment from a long-retired SAB set, called Amazing Phrasing. I used three separate stamps for the sentiment, mixing and matching from the options available in the set. A couple of Coastal Cabana Stitched Star die cuts finished off the front.

I used the Alphabet A La Mode Dies for the foil numbers, and Number Of Years (also long-retired) to stamp around them. Another Stitched Stars foil star finished off the front of the card.

I decided to add an extra panel to the back of the card to give us plenty of room to write our messages to Alex. I couldn't resist dressing it up with yet another foil star.

We'd love to see what you make with this week's colours. I think they are gorgeous, and hopefully you do too. Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll see what the rest of the Design team have made with them. You can also add your card to our Linky to enter the challenge.

Bye for now,

Colour Creations: Melon Mambo

Hi!

Welcome to the second last Colour Creations Blog Hop of 2023. It's still so weird to think that we are so close to the end of the year! Anyway, we are focussing on Melon Mambo this week, a former In Colour that made it's way into the Brights and has remained a part of the core colour collection ever since.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Joy To You, Brights DSP, Christmas Card

I've paired it with Granny Apple Green and Whisper White for my fun Christmas card. I love the tiny little pops of green under each layer of the card. A great way to introduce a colour with our it overwhelming the rest of the card.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Joy To You, Brights DSP, Christmas Card

I cut my Glittered Organdy Ribbon in half longways to create the smaller bow. It's such a neat trick with this ribbon!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Joy To You, Brights DSP, Christmas Card

I used my Joy To You stamp set for the sentiments on my card. I'm so sad that this stamp set is retiring at the end of the current Mini Catalogue. It's such a great set that makes a bit impact with very little work!

That's all from me for tonight, but please do keep on jumping around the blogs on tonight's hop. Just keep on going until you get back to where you started. The next stop tonight is our fabulous hostess, Cathy Proctor.

Cathy's blog is also where you need to go if you run into any problems with links. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 440: Embossing From The Mini

 Hi!

Welcome to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Mini Catalogue that features an embossing folder.

After flipping through the catalogue, I chose this card from page 65. I really liked the simple composition of the card, with the focal items framed by the embossed circle.

When I looked army stamp shelf, I decided that I hadn't played with Taco Fiesta for a while, and I could make the images in the set work with the layout of the card with a few little tweaks.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta, Stripes & Splatters 3DEF, Stampin' Blends

I also hadn't used my Stripes & Splatters 3DEF for a while, so the Splatter folder got a run, too. I made my circle smaller than the original card, as my images were smaller and they would have been swamped on a larger circle.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta, Stripes & Splatters 3DEF, Stampin' Blends

It's been a looooong time since I've sat down with my Stampin' Blends and had a play. I enjoy the shading and blending, so it was nice to get back into the groove of it.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta, Stripes & Splatters 3DEF, Stampin' Blends

I carried the DSP and the scattering of corn chips onto the inside of my card. Isn't that spotty Brights DSP fun? I think it's retired now, but I couldn't resist using it on my card.

We'd love for you to play along with our challenge this week. Which Embossing Folder project from the Mini Catalogue catches your eye? All you need to do is CASE the card and add a photo to our Facebook Group. Easy!

Before you go, please do finish the Blog Hop. Just keep on jumping until you get back to where you started. The next stop is the wonderful Rebecca Scurr. Her embossed Christmas card is gorgeous!

JAI 655: Just Add Music

 Hi!

Hello Friday, and the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week's theme - to Just Add Music - is right up my alley! Did you know that I play the Bass Clarinet in my local concert band? It's a lot of fun 😁

I decided to dig through my pop culture stamps for inspiration, and quickly found a Subway Art background stamp from Ink Road Stamps that suited the theme perfectly.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Little Town Life, Ink Road Stamps Subway Art: Fairytale, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

The stamp is called Subway Art: Fairytale, and is made up of a whole lot of lyrics from songs from fairytale-ish movies. I stamped it onto Azure Afternoon cardstock using coordinating ink, and then again onto Whisper White so that I could use one of the lyrics as my sentiment. Are you singing along in your head? I am!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Little Town Life, Ink Road Stamps Subway Art: Fairytale, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

The girl is from a Kindred Stamps digi stamp set, called Little Town Life. I just printed her off and coloured her with my Copic Markers.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Little Town Life, Ink Road Stamps Subway Art: Fairytale, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

On the inside of my card I used a physical stamp from the matching Little Town Life stamp set and again coloured her with my Copics. She certainly had an amazing adventure!

We'd love for you to play along with us this week. The Design Team have created some fabulous cards (as always) for the challenge. We'd love to see how you will interpret our music theme. Just add your card to our linky on the Just Add Ink blog.

CTC 421: All Occasions

 Hi!

Hello Sunday! It's been a wet week here, so I've been happy to stay inside and do some crafting. This week at CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenges we are asking you to CASE a project from the All Occasions section of the catalogue.

It's a big section, but this Taco Fiesta series of cards caught my eye. It's been a while since I've played with this stamp set, and I liked the layout of these cards.

I don't use small cards very often, so I decided to challenge myself to convert the layout to a full sized card.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Taco Fiesta, Brights DSP, Indented Pencil Technique

All I really needed to do was to make the DSP section a bit longer! I decided to matt the panel on some Real Red cardstock, as I chose to use a Whisper White card base.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Taco Fiesta, Brights DSP, Indented Pencil Technique

The chilli and cactus were left over from a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator day that I went to in Adelaide recently. I demonstrated the Indented Pencil technique. You basically take a stylus and etch some lines into the stamped image. Then gently colour over the top with Watercolour Pencils (minus the water). The lines give a nice highlight to the image.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Taco Fiesta, Brights DSP, Indented Pencil Technique

I used another two on the inside of the card. I had plenty of samples to use up, as I demonstrated the technique eight times that day!

We'd love for you to play along with us this week. Which card in the All Occasions section catches your eye? Just CASE the card and add a photo to our Facebook group.

Before you race off to get creating, please do finish the blog hop. The next stop on the hop is the lovely Peta Stephen with a very elegant card.

Colour Creations: Rich Razzleberry

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Rich Razzleberry's turn - a former In Colour that became a core colour during a past colour refresh. Given that we are about to have another refresh, it's fun speculating on which colours might get the chop, and which retired In Colours might make a comeback. We all have our favourites!

Brian King has a lovely, bright colour combo to go with Rich Razzleberry. I wasn't a fan of Flirty Flamingo to start with, but it's grown on me over the years. Knowing my luck, that means it's a colour that may retire soon. Sigh! RR and FF have been matched with Daffodil Delight, for a fun combo.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Songbird Builder Punch, Stylish Shapes Dies, Biggest Wish, Thank You Card

I recently received the Songbird Builder punch as a Sale-A-Bration reward, so I decided to use it on tonight's card. I don't have much other bird stuff, so I decided to use my Alphabet A La Mode dies to create a punny sentiment for my card. Because the letters are so skinny, you can fit a lot on!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Songbird Builder Punch, Stylish Shapes Dies, Biggest Wish, Thank You Card

Here's my songbird. I used a Basic Black marker to draw the eyes on, as I don't have the coordinating stamp set. They are a bit tricky to see in black, but I think that white would look a bit weird, so black they will stay.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Songbird Builder Punch, Stylish Shapes Dies, Biggest Wish, Thank You Card

Her mate is on the inside of the card. I think they make a fun thank you card. Do you agree?

The next stop in tonight's blog hop is the lovely Amie McIlroy. You won't want to miss her card, I'm sure it's going to be wonderful.

As always, we are kept in line and on track by the fabulous Cathy Proctor. It can be a lot of work some weeks behind the scenes, as blog platforms don't always do what they are told to do. She's a real gem!

Colour Creations: Real Red

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Real Red's turn to shine.

I chose this gorgeous colour combo from Brian King for my card tonight. As I put on my shoes this morning, I realised why. My red sandals go nicely with my Coastal Cabana coloured toenails! LOL!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Adorable Owls, Simply Fabulous, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration

I CASEd this layout from a card I saw on Mary Fish's blog, made by Jennifer Roque of Stamp Camp With Jen. The three strips of DSP are the same, but she used flowers where I used the owls. Speaking of owls, let's not mention that I forgot that they retired yesterday! Oops!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Adorable Owls, Simply Fabulous, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration

I coloured the owl from Adorable Owls using my Stampin' Blends. You may have noticed that I snuck a little Mango Melody in for the beak and feet. Unavoidable, really! The bow and party hat came from the two other owls, I just fussy cut them so that I could use them on this owl.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Adorable Owls, Simply Fabulous, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration

Another owl was used for the inside. He looks little nervous to me, don't you think?

That's all from me for this week's Blog Hop. Please jump on over to the lovely Fiona Ryan's blog. I'm sure she's got something wonderful for you to see.

And, as always, if you run into any issues with links, please head on over to the wonderful Cathy Proctor's blog. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help you get back on track.

Colour Creations: Poppy Parade

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at Poppy Parade, one of my favourite reds.

I liked this nautical colour combo from Brian King, and as I had just received the new On The Ocean bundle, I was all set!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

I have coveted this bundle ever since I saw it in the catalogue - it reminds me of one of my all time favourite childhood movies, The Goonies. For this card though, I decided to go a little more generic pirate. I started by stamping some of the waves on the bottom of the Pool Party Stitched Rectangle. I fussy cut along the line, and then stamped more waves on the bottom of the main piece. The cropped piece was then layered over the rest of the rectangle, popped up on Dimensionals. The pirate ship was tucked in between the layers, so that there are waves both in front and behind the ship.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

To bring more Poppy Parade into the card (as the feature colour!!), I cropped the skull and crossbones for the sails of the ship. I'm contemplating adding a flag to the top of the ship with a stamped skull and crossbones, too.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle

A little more stamping on the inside finished off the card. I can see myself having a lot of fun with this bundle!

My lovely friend, Andrea Sergeant, is the next stop on our Blog Hop tonight. Please jump on over to her blog, where I'm sure there's something magnificent to be seen!

As always, the wonderful Cathy Proctor keeps us all organised. She has a list of all of tonight's participants on her blog, so if you come across a broken link, just jump on over to her blog to get back on track.

Colour Creations: Melon Mambo

 Hi!

Welcome to Melon Mambo week of the Colour Creations Blog Hops. Many years go, Melon Mambo was an In Colour (with Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede), before becoming a part of the permanent colour range in a colour refresh. It's a fabulous, bright pink that is usually my go-to pink.

It mustn't be a go-to pink for Brian King though, as I could only find one combo, using current colours, of his that uses it! It's a fabulous combo, so I wasn't too worried by the lack of choice.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Nothing's Better Than, Love You More Than Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brights DSP

After three days in a row of 30°C temperatures, my mind immediately went to cocktails when I was thinking of what I could use these colours for. The Nothing's Better Than bundle leapt off my shelf and into my hands, LOL.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Nothing's Better Than, Love You More Than Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brights DSP

I started by stamping the 'kind of day' sentiment on the bottom of the cropped Stylish Shapes circle. The 'Cocktails' was cut three times in Melon Mambo card, and then stacked for dimension. Adhesive Sheets make short work of this! Originally, the 'today is a' was going to be stamped at the top of the circle, but I quickly realised that I didn't have room for that, so over the top it went!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Nothing's Better Than, Love You More Than Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brights DSP

To get the two-toned cocktails, I just inked one half of the filler stamp with the lightest colour, and then carefully inked the other half with the darker colour. I used the edge of the inkpad rather than the middle. Saves a lot of fussing around!

Thanks for joining me for Melon Mambo week, but please do continue hopping your way around all of the blogs tonight. There's plenty more to see, starting with my lovely friend Kathryn Ruddick.

If you run into any problems with the links tonight, please jump on over to our wonderful host, Cathy Proctor's blog. She has a list of all participants, and you can get back on track from there.

Bye for now,

Tina
