OnStage Sydney Beautiful Moments Presentation: Avid Samples

Hi!

Here's the third and final part of my OnStage Presentation sample posts. This time I have my Avid Crafter samples for the gorgeous Beautiful Moments stamp set. An Avid Crafter is one who stamps nearly every day and has to have it all! Sound familiar? I am definitely an Avid Crafter!! They definitely want more difficult projects and are willing to spend a lot of time (and money) on one card.

This card, using the Reflection Technique on my Stamparatus, was the card I demonstrated live on the day. It was a little nervewracking, but I did it! The hardest part is getting the water wash over the reflection part of the image to look right. I used Blueberry Bushell ink and an Aqua Painter. The rest of the image was coloured beforehand with my Aqua Painter and ink pads.

Once the Blueberry Bushell was was dry, I flicked my Chalk Marker over the top to give the look of light reflecting off ripples in the water.

I finished the inside with the image again in Crushed Curry Ink.

This image was originally a 'just trying things out' sample that turned out nicely enough to go on a card. I stamped the image on Shimmery White card using a no-line stamping technique and then coloured them with my Watercolour Pencils and an Aquapainter.

I layered two of the Stitched Labels to go behind the image panel.

The girls were stamped in Coastal Cabana to finish off the inside.

I used the Bridge Fold to create this card. All of the colouring was done on Watercolour Paper using my ink pads and Aqua Painter. I stamped using Stazon Ink.

I added a second row of flowers to the middle of the card, between the front layer and the back, to give the card more depth.

The back of the card uses Shimmery White card, as it copes well with watercolouring, but is smooth to write on.

This card is my absolute favourite of all the cards I made. It was the very first idea I had when I saw Jacque's stamp set - how well it would work with A Good Man. 'Perfectly' is the answer!

I used my Stamparatus and stocky notes to stamp and mask the images, starting with the dad/girl, then the mum/girl, and finally the island - which is actually an outline of Rangitoto Island, just off Auckland. A nice homage to Jacque's adopted hometown! I stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon ink and then coloured with my ink pads and Aqua Painter.

Once again, I used Shimmery White cardstock on the inside so that I could watercolcour.

I also made a couple of scrapbook pages for the Presentation, to show how versatile the set is for all paper crafters. I'd recently been in Auckland for April's OnStage event, so I scrapped a photo of the family there, and another of Rangitoto Island. This will be the opening page of my album.

I also made a pocket page of my sisters and I when we were lots younger and entered a sandcastle building competition.

The two little girls on the beach were the perfect image for this page!

AWH November Blog Hop: Sketch This

Hi!

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring a card sketch. We hope you like how we have each put our own spin on the sketch and that it inspires you to get creative and make some fabulous cards. If you are inspired by the sketch, please share with us!

Just like last month, I decided to scrap a layout rather than make a card. I'm keen to get stuck into scrapping my USA trip, so this was just the starting point I needed. This page will be the opening page to my album.

Can you see how I used the photos and postcard to replicate the main part of the sketch? I pretty much ignored the rest of the sketch as it didn't work with my page, but the most important part is included. I purchased the post card on my trip. I often do, as they photos are usually better than any I can hope to take! In this case though, the rustic flag appealed. Can you see that it's the flag painted onto some boards?

I then picked two photos that were the highlights from the two main parts of my trip. I had such a wonderful time travelling with Judy May, Kathryn Mangelsdorf and Rachel Palmieri, so I wanted to include them in this layout. The photo with the Aussie flag is from our visit to Stampin' Up!'s Home Office in Riverton, Utah, and the bottom photo is on the registration day of OnStage in Orlando, Florida, where we met Sara Douglass, the CEO of SU. You can see that I've cropped the photos to fit the sketch. How fabulous that the two photos I wanted to use worked perfectly!

I üst had to include a kangaroo to go with the American feel of the page. The kangaroo featured heavily in my swaps and gifts, so it will also feature heavily in this album. I coloured is with my watercolour pencils and blended with my Wink Of Stella pen. I tossed up between my Blends and pencils, but in the end went with the pencils as I felt it worked better with the rustic look of the flag postcard.

I love the Labeler Alphabet set! It's fabulous and versatile and will also feature heavily in the album, as it did on my swaps and gifts. And, yes, I did wear that flag headband for most of OnStage! It was a great way for people to find me, so I only took it off during the sessions so that I didn't annoy people sitting behind me.

AWH October Blog Hop: Pink

Hi!

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring the colour pink. We hope our Blog Hop inspires you to get creative with the various shades of pink that Stampin’ Up! offer in our collection of 53 colours. 

Now, I must admit that when Ros first gave us the pink theme, my mind jumped straight to the entertainer, P!NK. I went to one of her concerts back in July and hadn't scrapped the experience yet, so I thought why not?

I chose Berry Burst for my colour pink, and complimented it with Basic Black and Silver Glimmer Paper. It's such a fun combo, and what else for an awesome entertainer such as P!NK? To create the title I cut each letter with my Large Letters dies and then simply trimmed of the serifs on each letter. The serifs are the little 'flicks' at the ends of the letters. It changes the look of the font quite a lot! Here's a tip: to adhere the photos and letters over the Glimmer paper, it is best to use a liquid glue as it grips better to the uneven surface of the glitter.

I had fun making the splatters on the page. I started by stamping the splatters from Swirly Bird in Memento ink. It was good, but not quite the right look. I got out my Silver Embossing Paste, and using my Aqua Painter, I flicked it over the top. Much better!

To get the spacing right on my text, I wrote it out on a piece of scrap paper, but starting at the bottom of the page and going up. By doing this, I knew where to start my top line so that my writing was perfectly spaced.

Did you notice the Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon at the top of the photo section? I couldn't resist adding a piece of my favourite ribbon, especially when it has the important purpose of hiding my ticket and a piece of the confetti that fluttered down during the concert. I made a little pocket for them  under the panel so I could keep the photos and ticket together, but keep the ticket hidden.

Traditional Scrapbooking with Memories and More

A couple of weeks ago I had a little burst of scrapbooking inspiration. Today I have the second of the layouts that I made. It's a traditional page, but I've used our new pocket scrapbooking products for it. In this case, I've used the Perfect Days Memories and More pack, which coordinates beautifully with the Naturally Eclectic DSP.

This layout records the day that my daughter and her BFF spent the afternoon not just horse riding, but doing everything horse related - they fed them, cleaned the tack, groomed the horses and learned how to lead a horse. That's why I called it "The Whole Shebang". The girls had only ever rode a horse before, but are very horse obsessed, so this was a bit of a treat for Ada's birthday. We kept it a huge surprise - they only found out where they were going as we were about to walk out the door.

I cropped one of the Memories and More cards to fit my gap. I wanted it to match the card I'd used on the other page of the layout, but it didn't have any Emerald Envy on it. I they realised that the burlap stamp in Jar Of Love nearly matched the pattern in the Emerald Envy on the other side. Perfect! I've also used some of the stickers from the Memories and More pack. I'd sanded around the photos to give them the look of having a matt, so I did the same with the stickers.

To give a bit more of a country feel to the page, I laid some of SU's long retired Hemp Twine across the page and stapled it down. Most of the loops are placed randomly (however the twine wanted to naturally lie), but in this case I used the loop  to frame Ada leading the horse. It's the only photo on the layout that's not a close up, so I felt it needed something special.

This layout was a lot of fun to create. I love pocket scrapping for the speed and convenience, but traditional scrapping will always be my favourite. How about you?
