A Rosey Birthday Card

Whoot, whoot! Here we are for another 5 week of Colour Creations! We couldn't finish without adding on the new In Colours - that wouldn't be fun! This week we are looking at Rococo Rose. It's a lovely deep disks pink, and I'm sad to say that my photos don't do it justice at all - it's not as orange as my photos would let you think.

I decided to make a full sized tri fold card. I made a smaller version a few weeks ago for Shaded Spruce, but this time I wanted to go big! I cut my piece of Rococo Rose cardstock at nearly 6 inches longways, and then scored at 4 and 8 inches to create the folds. I then used my Stitched Labels dies to create the window in the front panel. It gives a lovely shape, with the bonus of having a Rococo Rose label o use on another project! I stamped some flowers from Free As A Bird over the front in coordinating ink. The yellow flowers were fussy cut from Bird Ballad DSP.

For the next section of the card I stamped the birds in Memento ink and then coloured them using a combo of my Watercolour Pencils and my Wink Of Stella pen. The sentiment is from the Lots Of Happy Card Kit, which carried over to the new Annual Catalogue. Silly me stamped it a little too high, and so I had to add an extra fussy cut grouping of flowers on the front to cover it up!

Here's the final panel. The key DSP can be seen when the second panel is held closed, so it does double duty on the card. Those keys make me want to make something Harry Potter-ish, I just need to think what!

Cat In The Garden

Welcome to the new Colour Creations Blog Share. This week we are up to the g's - more specifically Garden Green. It's definitely an old favourite of mine!

The first thing I decided was that I was going to brayer the Garden Green ink. I had no idea on what I was going to do this braying though! I went looking through my DSP and found nothing suitable. Then I was looking through the items on sale for World Card Making Day and decided that the large black and white striped piece from the Lots Of Happy Card Kit would be perfect!

I CASEd myself by embossing the Gold Foil with the Subtle DTIEF and popping it behind the punched cat shape. Such a cool look! I used the stamp set from the Notes Of Kindness Card Kit to stamp the leaves behind the Gold Foil. The pearls are also left overs from the same kit - you definitely get plenty!

After I stuck down the Gold Foil on the inside I realised I should have embossed it to match the front. I probably would have lifted it up (the spatula blade on the new Take Your Pick tool is perfect for that!), but I'd already adhered the cat over the top, and it wasn't going anywhere. Typical cat! LOL!

JAI #404: Just Add A Shaker

Have you missed me? I felt a bit sorry for my poor, neglected blog, but my building work has finally been completed. I wasn't able to get into my craft space the whole 4 weeks of the work, so it's great to be back creating again. Last weekend's On Stage event was the perfect timing to reboot the ole mojo.

This week at Just Add Ink Di set the challenge, and it's to Just Add A Shaker. What an awesome challenge!

The best part about making a shaker card for me is choosing what will go inside the shaker. Sequins and glitter are fun, but sometimes you just need to think outside the box! While I was pondering, my eye fell upon a bag of dried lavender that a lovely friend had given to me, and that kick started my card.

I actually made this card before the renovations started and during the middle of Sale-A-Bration. I used two SAB stamp sets, that are now no longer current. The lavender image is from Lots Of Lavender. It's such a pretty set! It was stamped on scrap card and then fussy cut to layer over the top of the shaker window.

You may be able to see the second SAB set in this picture. I used one of the 'sprinkles' stamps from Eclectic Expressions to create a subtle feature across the front of the card. How lovely does the dried lavender look in the shaker window? It smells great too!

The Lots Of Lavender stamp set coordinates with the Lots Of Happy Card kit, so I used a sentiment stamp from the kit to complete the inside.
