Perfectly Straight Picture Perfect Birthday

LOL, try saying that blog post quickly five times!

Today's card is one I made to show off one of the special features of the Stamparatus - the ability to move the plates along the hinge. It's one of the best features of the gadget in my opinion!

I first stamped the Tangerine Tango candle three times, then the Island Indigo dots, and finally the Daffodil Delight flame. I then moved my cardstock slightly on the Stamparatus base and stamped the Bermuday Bay/Rich Razzleberry candle. How cool is it that each candle is perfectly spaced and perfectly stamped? Imagine trying to do that by hand/eye!

The candle wicks were simply drawn on using a Journaling Pen, and then the sentiment panel was popped up over the top using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. The black rhinestones are now retired, but they still make a cool addition to the card.

Would you believe I only used a 4 inch square of the Tangerine Tango Foil Frenzy SDSP for this card? I used a 4x1/2 inch strip for the inside, a 4x3/4 strip for the top of the front, and the rest on the bottom of the front. A great way to help your DSP stretch further. I could get 9 cards out of the one 12x12 sheet by doing this!

JAI #379: Just Add Inspiration

I hope you're ready for Friday and the new challenge!

This week at Just Add Ink Kelly has provided a beautiful Inspiration Photo for the challenge. I love it, as it makes me think of summer. I am soooo over winter and ready for summer to roll around, so I was excited to create using this photo as my guide.

I decided that rather than my usual literal approach to Inspiration Photos, this time I was going to find inspiration in another way. After a bit of consideration, I decided to use the colours as the basis for my card.

I mostly went with the pink and the green from the photo, with touches of brown, black and white. The pitcher reminded me of a strawberry champagne cocktail I particularly enjoy over summer, so I decided to include some 'bubbles' in my card as an extra little tribute.

I used the Lemon Lime Twist Foil Frenzy SDSP to represent the bubbles. The foil finish adds a touch of glam to the card without being overwhelming. Sometimes a little bit of the Foil Frenzy SDSP goes a long way!

I used a spotty stamp from No Bones About It to carry the bubbly look through to the inside of the card. It seemed a bit funny to use a dinosaur stamp on a girly, butterfly card - but it works!

AWH HOC Week 11

Hi!

I hope you're not tired of the Christmas inspiration just yet - there's still a lot of weeks to go before Christmas, but it will be upon us before we know it!

I got a little silly with this week's card. I'm waiting not so patiently for my Holiday Catalogue preorder to arrive, and I've used my other Christmas themed sets a lot, so I decided to try something different this week.

What do you think? A bit silly, but still a Christmas card! I usually only get to spend every second Christmas with my side of the family, so often the day starts with texts back and forth until later in the day when we can speak to each other.

Did you notice the new Basic Black shimmer ribbon in the background? It is soooo lovely!

Apologies for the not-so-great photos of my card this week - I've been doing a lot of purging and rearranging at home, and I still haven't found a permanent home for my photo booth. That job is top of the list for next week!

JAI #371: Just Choose Two

Whoops! A bit of a technical glitch this morning, meaning my post went up late.

This week at Just Add Ink, Di has challenged us to Just Add Two to our cards. The choice is kids, patterned paper or pets.

I'm not too much of an animal person, so I went for kids and patterned paper.

My niece, Zoe, turned 13 last week, so this was a great opportunity to make her a special card for her special birthday. I chose the Foil Frenzy SDSP, as it's card weight card stock, so perfect for a card base.

I saw this style of Pop Up card, made by Jolanda Meurs, so I decided to give it a go for Zoe's card. When folded flat, the front of the card has a window that the 13 sits in. When you open it, this is what you see:

I thought it was such a clever fold, and even better that it lies flat for posting. I added some extra balloons to the inside front of the card, just to help hide the balloons on the front that hung over the window. If I were to make this card again, I would definitely write my message on the inside before adhering it to the card. It was very difficult to write on after sticking it down!

AWH HOC: Week 9

Hi!

I nearly didn't think I'd make it with my Heart Of Christmas card this week. Now the kids are back at school, I'm doing all of the jobs I couldn't get done while I had them home. I do make crafting a bit of a priority though, so I eventually found a little time.

This week I feel like I was a little adventurous. I recently purchased the Foil Frenzy SDSP, even though at first glance I wasn't too thrilled with it. I do like the spotty design, so in the end it won me over.

Using metallics on a card automatically gives the card a bit of a luxe feel, which is sometimes what you want in a Christmas card. The Lemon Lime Twist gives the card a very modern look - it really is a light, fresh colour.

After stamped the baubles on either side of the sentiment, I added a rhinestone to each to finish them off. The smallest ones in the packet are just he right size for the little ornaments.

I carried the ornaments over to the inside too. They are from a new stamp set that SU will have available to purchase next month. It's called Carols Of Christmas, and has a matching Thinlits set called Card Front Builder Thinlits. I think the name thinker-uperer was having a bad day - it's not a great name for a fabulous set of dies! You'll be seeing lots of cards using them on the 'net I'm sure.
