Kelly's Happy Blog Hop

Hi!

Wow, two posts in one day! Both are very special though. This evening's post is a fun Blog Hop that I am participating in that celebrated the 5 year Stampiversary of my friend and JAI team member, Kelly Kent. If you've ever met Kelly, you'd know that shy and quiet aren't words to describe her, so it comes as no surprise that she's celebrating with a big bang!

The theme of today's Blog Hop is simply, happy. You have probably come from Jacqui's blog, where you're bound to have seen something amazing. If you're starting here at my blog, that's entirely fine. Just keep on hopping until you get back to where you started!

I decided to make a layout for the blog hop. It's been a little while since I've scrapped, so I was feeling a little rusty, but it was very enjoyable to spend a few hours on this page.

I've used the new In Colour Tranquil Tide as the base of my layout. Unfortunately I haven't been able to photograph it well, as it is actually a lot more similar in colour to the T2 Melbourne Breakfast label I have used on my page. Speaking of which, do you ever use 'found' objects like this on your layouts? I sometimes do, but never with precious photos, as I can never be sure that they are photo safe.

I journaled directly onto my layout using a PL marker, as I didn't want another big block of white on the page. I used the thicker, 0.5, marker so that the writing was a bit easier to read against the dark background

I love this title! A quick Google search for 'tea quotes' gave me these words. There are heaps of tea related quotes out there, but not many that also include the word happy. Luckily, this one was perfect for me!

I hope you've enjoyed my 'happy' page, as I had a lot of fun making it. And before you ask, yes, I was sipping tea from my cup as I scrapped the photo. As a matter of fact, I'm sipping from it now, as I type this post. No doubt I'll also be sipping tea from it as I do the Blog Hop when it goes live!

It's now time for you to hop along to the next blog, which just happens to be my friend, Kathryn. Before you go, I'd love for you to leave a comment and let me know what you thought about my layout. I'd love to know!

If there's a broken link, just head back to Kelly's blog. She will have a list of the blogs, so you can find where you were up to and keep going - it will definitely be worth it!

Bye for now,

A Happy Pop Of Pink

Hi!

Where do you get inspiration for your cards? I often look through the catalogue at the cards to get a bit of a spark to start the creative process. Today's card was a CASE of a catalogue card. You can find it on page 84 - it's the one on the left with the pineapple.

I don't have the Pop Of Paradise stamp set that is used on the card, but I certainly didn't let that stop me! I substituted with the Hello You Thinlits and Crazy About You stamp set.

I've made this card at a few classes this month. Some of my ladies wanted a thank you card instead of a birthday card. To do this, we simply stamped the 'you make me' stamp from Crazy About You at the top left of the card instead of the 'birthday' at the bottom. Too easy!

I love this combo of stamps from the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set. A hot pink and black card is certainly worthy of a fabulous birthday!

A Bit of Scrapping

Hi!

I'm not sure if I've blogged this layout before, but it was sitting in my 'To Blog' folder so I'm guessing that I haven't. I made it a while ago for a sketch challenge as a part of a fundraiser.

I was a bot excited to pick up an old, but still working, typewriter on a Facebook Buy Swap Sell page for a song - only $5. Bargain! As my intention is to use it in my scrapping, it was only logical to scrap about it!

What other stamp set could I use? Tap Tap Tap came in very handy!

LOL, I think I need to buy a new ribbon for it, as the current one is quite pale, but that's easily enough done.  Gotta love Ebay!

You may have noticed the title and thought "SU doesn't have a die that says tap". It doesn't! But it does have two dies in the Hello You Thinlits set that say thanks and happy. I took the t from thanks and the ap from happy to create the word tap. Too easy!

We are getting close to the end of the current Annual Catalogue, which means it's not long to the start of the new Annual Catalogue. So exciting - I can't wait!

JAI #309: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Oops! Where did that week go? I'll blame it on school holidays. Ada is away on a Young Carers camp and Alex is doing a 4 day Jamie Oliver Ministry Of Food cooking course and I'm just all out of whack! It's been a bit strange with just Hudson and me home during the day.

But let's get into the Just Add Ink fun for this week. Jodene has given us this gorgeous Inspiration picture for our inspiration.

Can't you just imagine snuggling under that throw on a cold winter day? And the colours are just divine!

I started by choosing my colours. I went with Watermelon Wonder, Blushing Bride and Pool Party. I then used them with an Aqua Painter to create the chevron pattern on some watercolour paper. I was watching the final of MKR as I was painting the background, so it's probably a bit uneven as the excitement levels changed!

Once I finished the background I was a little stumped! I didn't want to stamp a sentiment on the watercolour paper as the texture in the paper can make getting a clear image tricky. I ended up using my Hello You Thinlits with some Watermelon Wonder cardstock. I used a few teeny tiny pieces of Dimensionals to pop it up off the background.

I cheated a little on the inside. I wanted to use more of the chevrons, but this time I decided to use the stamp from Work Of Art and my markers. The sentiments are from Endless Thanks.

The Just Add Ink Design Team has interpreted the inspiration picture in so many fabulous ways. You can see their cards over at the Just Add Ink blog. What inspires you?

JAI #307: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Waa Hoo!  Not only is it Friday, and therefore Just Add Ink challenge day - it's also the last day of school for Term 1! It's been a long few weeks watching a lot of my interstate friends enjoying their holidays on FB, but now it's our turn!

This week Nikki has set a colour challenge, and it's fabulous!  I'm a real fan of yellow paired with gray, so thisd one was right up my alley!

Here's what I came up with using the colours.

I quite like the way that the sunburst and stars lok like a firework going off in the background. I stamped the sunburst from Kinda Eclectic, but stamped it off first so that the Delightful Dijon wouldn't dominate the card too much. The stars, from Perpetual Birthday Calendar, were stamped in Smokey Slate over the top.

The 'happy' fromt eh Hello You thinlits makes for a bold sentiment over the top of everything else.

What will you do with the colours this week? Can't wait to see what you create. Don't forget to link up at Just Add Ink.

JAI #281: Just Add Colour

Hi!

This week at Just Add Ink we have a colour challenge with a difference: YOU get to choose the colours you use! The very tricky Di came up with this challenge, and gave us a limit: you can only use THREE colours. Which three will you choose?

I decided to go with one of my favourite colours, which is blue. This card is Hudson's 8th Birthday card.  We gave him a water play table and a few little rubber duckies to go in it, so I ran with that for his card.

You can see that my two other colours are yellow (Daffodil Delight) and orange (Tangelo Twist).  The blues I used are Marina Mist and Soft Sky.  There's a bit of Basic Black and Whisper White in the card, but technically they aren't colours, so I think I'm ok!

To make the duckie I just googled 'duck punch art Stampin' Up!', clicked on Images and just went from there.  He's a bit of a cutie!  I made the water by just punching along the edge of the cardstock with my smallest circle punch.

Which three colours will you choose for your card? Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog to see the gorgeous combos the other girls have selected.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #263: Just Add Weddings!

Hi!

I'm back with my first Just Add Ink challenge in 8 weeks - I really missed doing the challenges, so I'm glad to be back.

This week Jan has challenged us to create with weddings in mind.  It can be anything to do with a wedding - think shower teas, invitations, congrats, anniversaries.... anything!

It may be a little predictable, but I went with the Something Borrowed suite of products from the Occasions Catalogue.  Can you believe that this is the first time I've cracked open that roll of gorgeous Sahara Sand Lace Trim? Neither can I!

I went with Blackberry Bliss as my accent colour.  I wanted the drama of a dark colour but I wasn't in the mood for using black or navy.  I was thrilled to see that the Crazy About You stamps and Hello You thinlits were carrying over to the new catalogue as I've had a lot of fun playing with them.

Now, the worst thing about Blackberry Bliss is that you have to be ULTRA careful not to get it anywhere it shouldn't be. In this case I noticed a small smudge of it at the top right of my inside.  I had intended to make a more elaborate inside using one of the Something Borrowed Embellishments.  I still will, but I ran out of time so this inside will do for now.

Are you inspired to play along at Just Add Ink this week?  I hope so!

Bye for now,

Tina
