Freshly Made Sketches 518

 Hi!

Once again this week, I found time to play along with Freshly Made Sketches. I like to colour and create while I'm watching the cricket.

Their sketch this week is very simple and gives a lot of scope for interpretation. I recently received my Showtime Limited Edition Box from Kindred Stamps, and I decided to have a play with it.

My husband, who is a big user of memes, particularly wanted me to make a card using this tea-drinking froggy image. It tickles his funny bone, and mine. After I stamped him I masked him off so that I could stamp the stump from Foxy Friends.  Doesn't he look cute, perched up there?

I coloured the frog and his tea with my Copic markers.

The teacup on the inside is from a Three Room Studio stamp, called One More Chapter. Don't you love the punchline from the Showtime Sentiments stamp set? Hopefully the person that receives this card will know the meme!

A Roaring Good Time With Pumpkin Pie

Hi!

Wowee, the Art With Heart team are ripping though the colours in the Stampin' Up! range. We are up to Pumpkin Pie this week. When deciding what to make I reached for my Brights cardstock tub, but I didn't find Pumpkin Pie. Oops! I forgot that in the last Colour Refresh, Pumpkin Pie was moved to the Regals.

I have a great nephew turning two in a couple of weeks, and so this was a great opportunity to make a fun card for him. I was originally thinking a lion, but they are yellow, not orange! Tiger it was, then! I did a google search for tigers made using the fox builder punch and found a few. The one I followed was just marked as 'Alana'. How cute is he?

He was a little fiddly to make, but soooo worth the effort. I made his stripes by stamping just the ear part of one of the heads in the Foxy Friends stamp set. I repeated this for the 2, which I think looks super cute!

I had the foresight to make a second tiger at the same time as the first. Usually I only make one and then wish for a second one for the inside but can't be bothered as they are so fiddly. I got smart this time! You may notice that his tail is on the other side - that was a bit of an oops moment that worked out nicely.

Why not pop on over to Catherine's blog, where you can find the links for the rest of this week's Pumpkin Pie cards? They're gonna be great!

An Inspired Christmas Card

Hi!

Today's card is a fun, bright Christmas card that has a little story to go with it.

A week or so ago, Just Add Ink had an Inspiration Challenge with a picture of snowy trees. We get the challenge list a while in advance, so I had a bit of time to think about what to do. Lucky, because I was a bit stumped by it! While I was in the USA, I saw this piece of Christmas decor in Joanns.

Straight away, I thought, why not use a card based on this for the Inspiration challenge? I wasn't sure about it, because it's quite a departure from the original photo. I let the idea simmer away in the back of my brain for the rest of the trip, but then when I got home I found that my JAI teammate, Jo had made this card! I decided not to make the card after all. I posted my Joanns photo in our FB group and Jo and I had a little laugh. Then she challenged me to make a card anyway, so here it is.

I tried to colour match the original piece, so left to right I used: Poppy Parade, Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point and the retired Lost Lagoon.

I used the two trees from Foxy Friends to stamp with - the large trees direct to the cardstock and the smaller trees on scrap pieces that I fussy cut out. The small trees are then popped up over the top with Dimensionals.

So there you go - it's funny how two people can come up with similar ideas completely independently!

A Foxy Deer

Hi!

Today is the last Heart Of Christmas Blog Share for 2018. Have you enjoyed seeing all of the Christmas inspiration? Has it inspired you to start on your Christmas cards? I hope so!

The card I have made for this week's Blog Share has been one I've had on my mind for the entire 15 weeks of Heart Of Christmas. I just always kept putting off making it, as other ideas and new products took priority. As today's is the last, it was time to put ink to cardstock!

How cute is the reindeer? Can you see why I've been wanting to make this card? LOL

I couldn't resist adding a Red Rhinestone to turn him into Rudolph!

Here he is again on the inside. I hadn't intended to add the rhinestone to this deer's nose, but it just didn't look quite right without it after doing the one on the front.

You can see the rest of this final week's cards over at Claire's blog. I'm sure you'll love what you see.

A Foxy Coffee CASE

Hi!

Today's card is a CASE of a card made by Jen of World Of Jen Craft. I found the card when I was searching for cards made using the new Coffee Break DSP. I'm not a coffee drinker, so the suite didn't appeal to me until I saw the paper. I immediately fell in love with the colours and patterns in the DSP. It's a fantastic pack for male cards.

Jen's card uses the new This Little Piggy stamp set, which I don't own, so I substituted for A Little Foxy. I was aiming for a card that could be used for a new baby, or a birthday card for a young boy.

I quite like the fox in Pear Pizzazz - it makes me think of a stuffed toy that a young child might have.

Have you seen or purchased the Coffee Break DSP yet? It's a great addition to your stash of paper!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #353: Just Add Critters

Hi!

Gee wiz! I can't believe it's the end of March already! I actually nearly typed February just then instead of March - it's been such a busy start to the year that I'm completely losing track.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/03/just-add-ink-353just-add-critters.html

I did remember that it's Friday though, which means it's time for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Karren has challenged us to Just Add Critters. I can tell you that the Design Team had some fun with this one - there's some really cool critter cards on the main blog.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/03/just-add-ink-353just-add-critters.html

Other than butterflies and dragonflies, I really didn't have a lot of animal stamps, so it was a good excuse to splash out and finally purchase the Foxy Friends bundle. I had this idea for a card in my head all week, and when I sat down to make it, the result was exactly what I'd hoped for.

What do you think? I think it looks much better in real life - the Emerald Envy cardstock didn't photograph well, so it looks much more subdued that it actually is. I wanted bright, so I went with Tempting Turquoise, Emerald Envy, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango.

I had to break up all of the bright colours with splashes of Whisper White. Without it I think the colours would fight each other a bit, rather than sitting nicely together. I hand cut the curved horizon from my Emerald Envy cardstock, adhered a piece of Whisper White behind it, and then hand trimmed the WW to match the EE.

I'm not sure what I'll use this card for yet - maybe a child's birthday card. For now I'll leave it blank. I can easily stamp an inside sentiment later on.

What critters do you have hiding in your stash? Why don't you bring them out to play? Link your card over at the Just Add Ink blog so we can see what you create.

JAI #352: Just Add Colour

Hi!

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/03/just-add-ink-352colour.html

Here we are again, with another new challenge for Just Add Ink. This week Nikki has given us this gorgeous colour combination to work with. I fell in love with it straight away.
http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/03/just-add-ink-352colour.html

You may have worked out that I'm a bit in love with the Sponge Brayers. I couldn't resist getting one out again for this card. Tempting Turquoise looks fabulous as an ombre background, don't you think?

I cut the largest Stitched Shapes Square Framelit from the base once I'd brayered it. I added a few layers underneath it to hide the cut. I love the colours together with a splash of Whisper White - they look so crisp!

I recently purchased the Foxy Friends bundle and finally got a chance to play with it on this baby card. I look forward to playing some more in the future - I think it's going to be great for baby/toddler cards.

I had lots of fun making my card for this week's Just Add Ink challenge. I hop you do too! You can link your card over at the blog.
