Just Add Ink #150: Sketch Challenge

Hi!

It's Friday again, and nice to get back into the routine of a Design Team post on a Friday. This week at Just Add Ink Mae has given us a fantastic sketch to play with.

Isn't it a great sketch? You can interpret it any way you'd like.  I substituted the flag ends for the wavy lines.  What will you do?

I decided to use one of the larger frames from the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L die to create the focal panel of my card. The sentiment is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp set.

I used the smaller scallop punch from the Holiday Catalogue to create the scrunched flower on the front of the card. They are really easy to make - just punch about 5-8 scallop circles, pop a brad through the middle and then scrunch them up one layer at a time.  You then just open it out again to achieve your desired look.

Here's what's under the flap. The sentiment is from Perfect Punches and the flower is from one of the new Sale-A-Bration sets, Bloomin' Marvelous.

I deliberately left the inside blank (except for the flags of course!) as I don't know what I'll use this card for yet.  I'll stamp it when I know!

I hope to see you over on the Just Add Ink blog.

Bye for now,

Tina

Attic Boutique Card

Hi!

There's not long left to purchase items from the current Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue, as it finishes at the end of the month.  There's some things I'll really miss from it, but I won't find out for a little while yet if they will find their way into the next Annual Catalogue.  If you don't want to miss out, you'd best get in quick!  Today's card uses quite a few products from the Mini Catalogue.

This was a card I made as a sample for my monthly ladies when the Mini first came out.  There are quite a few runs through the Big Shot with this one!

I quite like the doily paper in the pack, and it provided a pretty background for the sentiment panel.

Stamps: Perfect Punches
Ink: Pool Party
DSP/Cardstock: Attic Boutique DSP, Pool Party, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Designer Frames Embossing Folder, Large Oval Punch, Victorian Crochet Trim, Basic Jewels Pearls, Dimensionals

Don't forget our masculine themed blog hop on Saturday, you're sure to be inspired!

Festive Friday #20

Hi!

Here we go again with another Festive Friday Challenge. This week Nicole has selected an absolutely gorgeous inspiration photo for us to work with.

Wouldn't an arrangement like that look just stunning on your table on Christmas Day?  I took my inspiration from the roses and used the largest image from Apothecary Art on my card.

Don't you love it when you can find an unexpected use for an image from a stamp set? I never would have thought that this image would work on a Christmas card, but here it is!

I gave a little nod to the candy canes on the inside of my card by stamping some red and white striped baubles.

I hope you can play along this week at Festive Friday Challenges.  I'd love to see how this picture inspires you.

Stamps: Apothecary Art, Perfect Punches, Snow Swirled, Tree Trimmings
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive
DSP/Cardstock: Letters To Santa DSP, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Lables Framelits, Circle Punches, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Paper Snips

Just Add Tania Gould!

Hi!

The team at Just Add Ink have come up with a new challenge - to CASE a card from a selected Design Team member, in this case Tania Gould.  So off I popped to look through her blog for inspiration, and boy did I find some!  Tania is one very clever papercrafter.  The card I finally settled on to CASE was this card.  I loved the 3D flower she'd made, and since I wanted to have a go at a similar flower it was the perfect card to CASE.  Here's my version.

I love these flowers, but a bit of forward planning is necessary to make them.  You need to wet the cardstock, and so you have to wait for them to dry before you can use them on a project.  You can find the tutorial for making them here on Joanne Leddy's blog.

A bit hard to see because it's stamped in Pink Pirouette, but the greeting is from Happiest Birthday Wishes.

Stamps: Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess), Perfect Punches
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist
DSP/Cardstock: Beau Chateau DSP, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Little Leaves Die, Lots Of Tags Die, Large Oval Punch, Fancy Flower Punch, 5-Petal Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Pink Circle Rhinestone Brad, Basic Jewels Pearl, Sponge Daubers

Catch you later,

Christmas Basket

Hi!

Today's project is a little Christmas basket.  I designed it to hold some little baked treats that will be given as a little Christmas gift.

It was relatively quick and simple to make.  I used some retired Ski Slope DSP to decorate the sides and some Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon for a handle.

To jazz up the front a little I used a Christmas stamp from Perfect Punches with the coordinating Scallop Circle punch.  Easy!

Inside the basket are some little packets of gingerbread men and gingerbread angels.  I popped them in SU's small cellophane bags and tied a bit of metallic gift wrap ribbon around the top.

Stamps: Perfect Punches
Ink: Real Red
DSP/Card Stock: Ski Slope DSP (retired), Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Other: Scallop Circle XL punch, Dimensionals, 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Crop-A-Dile, Small Flat Cellophane Bags, Metallic Ribbon (non SU)

All A Flutter Birthday Card

Hi!

Today's card is for a very special woman - my mother-in-law.  It's her birthday tomorrow and so I needed to make her a card.  I've also decided to enter it in Just Add Ink's challenge, which is to Just Add Birthdays.

I chose the colour combination of Marina Mist, Perfect Plum and Sahara Sand, which I think looks quite pretty together.  I have had the All A Flutter butterfly stamp for a little while, but I hadn't even mounted it until I made this card.  I love this little butterfly and I can see myself using it lots.

The butterfly is popped up on a Dimensional to give it a bit of a lift.  And isn't that satin ribbon so lovely?

Stamps: All A Flutter, Baroque Motifs, Perfect Punches
Ink: Perfect Plum, Marina Mist
Card Stock: Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Other: 5/8" Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, Marina Mist Designer Button, Scallop Edge Border Punch, 2" x 1 3/8" (Wide) Oval XL Punch, Stamp Positioner, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Paper Snips, Embroidery Floss

Cherry Cobbler Christmas Card

Hi!

I did a little blog surfing last night before I made this card.  I was looking for a challenge to inspire me and as soon as I saw the current sketch at Card Patterns I knew exactly how I would interpret it.  Don't you love it when things fall into place like that?

Here's the sketch.

And here's my card:

I love the little Polka Dots in the DSP - so bright and cheerful.  I was aiming for the look of a Christmas Wreath for the centre circle with all the punched out leaves.

Here's a side on view showing how I raised the centre section:

Stamps: Perfect Punches
Ink: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
DSP/Card Stock: Jolly Holiday, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Dimensionals, 3/4" Circle M Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Two Step Bird XL Punch, Circle Cutter, Rhinestones, 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, 5/8" Old Olive Satin Ribbon

Tina.

Swinging Stampin' Royalty

Hi

I'm back again with another card from the latest UStamp round.  The swing card was designed by Kathryn Mangelsdorf for Ustamp and I used the colour combination from the latest Stampin' Royalty challenge.  Here's the colour combo:

Here's the card I came up with:

Another view, this time open and from the front:

And finally open, but from the back, which is where you write your message:

Isn't it a cute little card?  I quite like the swing card, and can see myself making lots more!

Stamps: Razzle Dazzle, Perfect Punches, Baroque Motifs
Ink: Concord Crush, So Saffron
Card Stock: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Concord Crush, Whisper White
Other: Rhinestones, 1/4" Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Scallop Edge Border Punch, 2" x 1 3/8" (Wide) Oval XL Punch, Stamp Positioner, Glue Dots

Catch you later - I'll be back tomorrow with another super cute UStamp card.

Jolly Dasher, or A Dashing Holiday?

Hi!

I must admit, it's been a while, but I'm having a go at the latest Stampin' Royalty Challenge.  But before I show you my card, congratulations to Gardenia at A Little Less Useless for becoming the first Australian to have a place on the Design Team!

This week the challenge is to use this sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

I couldn't get the flowers in the top left of the sketch to work, so I replaced them with rhinestones.

I crimped a straight section of DSP to get the scalloped border around the oval panel - a handy little trick to know!

Stamps: Dasher, Perfect Punches
Ink: Old Olive
DSP/Card Stock: Jolly Holiday DSP, Very Vanilla, Old Olive
Other: Scallop Edge Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punches, Paper Crimper, Sponge Daubers, 1/4" Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, Oval Cutter, Dimensionals, Rhinestones

Just Add Ink 33

Hi!

I've just managed to get this card posted in time for the current Just Add Ink challenge.  This week the girls have given us a beautifully elegant sketch for inspiration.

Isn't it lovely?  I hope I've done it justice with my card.

I've used the new Greenhouse Gala DSP on the card.  I'm not such a fan of the big floral designs of the paper, but I'm totally loving the brocade-type patterns in the pack.  The colour combinations are lovely too, and with 6 colours it's easy to pick just 2 or 3 to work with.

Here's a closer look at the sentiment panel:

I used the En Francais Background stamp on the bottom layer, and the Thanks stamp from Perfect Punches for the sentiment, which was raised on dimensionals.  The Chocolate Chip oval was added for a little extra interest.

Stamps: En Francais Background, Perfect Punches
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
DSP/Card Stock: Greenhouse Gala DSP, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Other: Chocolate Chip ribbon (retired), Scallop Oval and Wide Oval Punches, Paper Snips, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! has bling!

Hi!

How exciting - the new Ideas Book and Catalogue is up and running and is the best one yet!  So many new products and stamp sets.  I really hope I win lotto soon!

Today's card was a long time coming.  After the big fundraiser I lost my mojo a little, but I think I am beginning to find it again.  I decided to start off with a simple card to ease myself back into things.

I only received my new embossing folder in the mail yesterday, so I put it straight to use on this card.  My hubby Rob was a bit 'meh' when I showed him the folder, but once I'd embossed the cardstock he had to agree that it was pretty nice.  He was amazed at the crisp lines it produces.  I sponged lightly over the panel with a sponge dauber to give a softer look.

And, most exciting, Stampin' Up! are now selling bling!  Expect to see a lot more on my cards!

Stamps: Perfect Punches
Ink: Regal Rose
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Regal Rose, Rose Red
Other: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals
