CTC #269 Week 2: Your Favourite Retiring Bundle

Hi!

Thanks for joining me once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop! We are mid way through our current challenge, which is to CASE Your Favourite Retiring Bundle.

This week I have chosen to use the Varied Vases bundle.

I have used the stamp set a lot, but mostly for the sentiments! I love the curly script font, especially as it's a smaller size. For my card I decided to get a bit more adventurous and use the vases and flowers.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Varied Vases Bundle, Ornate Layers Dies, Painted Labels Dies

I started by blending some ink on the front of the card. I used Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam. Thankfully the Posy ink behaved itself and blended nicely. I cropped the panel using one of the new Ornate Layers Dies.

The flower outlines were stamped in Memento ink and then filled with colour. Stamped of Rococo Rose for the top flower (an orchid? I have no idea!) and stamped off Rich Razzleberry for the other flower. The vases were just cropped from Whisper White card. I tried stamping different colours and metallics, but nothing looked quite right other than WW.

I recreated the same scene on the inside - hahaha, I just realised I did the same on last weeks card! The sentiment I used on the inside is my favourite from the set. It works so well with any floral card, and I have used it a lot.

That's all from me this week. AS I said, we are mid way through this fortnight's challenge, so you have another week to get your card made, photographed and posted into our Facebook group. I'd love to know your favourite retiring bundle!

In the meantime though, please do finish the hop. I'm near the end this week, so if you started at the top, you're nearly done! If not, just keep going until you get back to where you started. Easy! Next up is the lovely Shannon, who has made a super cute card!

Bye for now, and a very Happy Mother's Day to the mums of all sorts out there!

CTC #265 Week 1: Second Release Sale-A-Bration

Hi!

Thanks for joining me again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Blog Hop Challenge. We are at the start of a new fortnight's challenge, which is to CASE any project from the Second Release Sale-A-Bration catalogue. Have you arrived here from Michelle's blog, or are you starting here? As always, just keep hopping around all the blogs until you get back to where you started.

My inspiration this week is the card on page 4, that has the mugs facing in opposite directions.

I wracked my brain for a while about what I could use to get that effect, and then I remembered my Bird Ballad DSP. It was very simple to fussy cut two of the bird images that faced in different directions. They were popped up on my Pool Party card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Subtle 3DEF

I embossed the top layer with the Subtle 3DEF, just for a bit more interest, and because I love the folder! I used a strip of card for the sentiment, like the original card, but I only flagged on end. A few Iridescent sequins finished off the front.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Subtle 3DEF

For the inside I fussy cut a third, smaller group of birds. I couldn't find a sentiment I felt suited the card for the inside (I like to try to match fonts!), so I just left it blank - more room for writing!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Subtle 3DEF

Apart from the fussy cutting, this was such a fast and easy card to put together. I was very pleased with how it turned out!

To enter our challenge you don't need a blog, just a Facebook account. Simply join our Facebook group and upload a photo of your card to the wall. Easy!

Thanks again for stopping by. Next you're off to the lovely Peta's blog. I wonder what Marvi has been up to this week?

Bye for now,

JAI #493: Just Choose Two

Hi!

Welcome back to a new Just Add Ink challenge! This week Patrice has challenged us to Just Add Two to our creations. Which two? Any of these two:

Now, for some reason I became a little fixated on having felt on my card. I'm not quite sure why - maybe because, of the three, it's the one that I was least likely to have. Nothing like making it hard for myself! LOL! I was sure I had a felt Christmas ornament that SU retired a long time ago *somewhere* in my craft room. I never found it, but I did find some cheap sheets of felt in the kid's craft stash.

I trimmed some green felt and attached it to a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock with TomBow glue. Before it dried, I ran it through my Big Shot with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. I was quite impressed with how well it held the embossed design!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Varied Vases, Daisy Lane, Poppy Moments Dies, Brick & Mortar EF, Layering Leaves EF, Daisy Punch

To finish the card, I layered a piece of vellum embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing folder with some of the Poppy Moments leaves and a Large Daisy. The second of my Two items is a button, the centre of the daisy. I used a Medium Classy Designer Button, which retired a while ago, and coloured it with my dark Pineapple Punch Stampin' Blend to change the colour from vanilla to yellow.

The inside was finished off with a So Saffron daisy and a sentiment from Varied Vases.

So which two will you choose? You can check out what the Design Team chose over at the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also link up your Just Choose Two card.

CTC #260 Week 2: January July Mini Catalogue

Hi!

Welcome back to Week Two of the first CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge for 2020! As I mentioned last week, we have switched to running each challenge over two weeks, with a new blog hop each Sunday as usual. That means you get twice the inspiration for each challenge! Speaking of inspiring, the blog before mine was the fabulous Rebecca's, and you can find the link to the next blog at the end of my post.

This week continues with CASEing any project from the January-June Mini Catalogue. There's so much to choose from! Last week I CASEd a card fairly closely, so this week I went looking for a technique to CASE. I didn't have to go far!

This beauty is on page 3, and uses a watercolour wash on the die cut background. It's such a fun technique, so I was very keen to give it a try!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Springtime Impressions Dies, Varied Vases, Itty Bitty Birthdays, Follow Your Art DSP, Layered Leaved 3D Embossing Folder

I don't have the Heart To Heart bundle, so instead I used my Springtime Impressions Dies. I started by washing Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody and Flirty Flamingo over a piece of Watercolour Paper. Once it dried, I cropped it using the butterfly die.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Springtime Impressions Dies, Varied Vases, Itty Bitty Birthdays, Follow Your Art DSP, Layered Leaved 3D Embossing Folder

The rest of the card is just layers of Basic Black cardstock and Follow Your Art DSP. I love how the DSP mimics the look of the butterfly, without all the effort! You might also be able to see that I embossed the largest black layer with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Springtime Impressions Dies, Varied Vases, Itty Bitty Birthdays, Follow Your Art DSP, Layered Leaved 3D Embossing Folder

I used a couple of DSP offcuts to add to the side of the writing panel on the inside. Just a slither - any more takes away from the watercolour wash look from the butterfly.

Have you made your card and posted it to our Facebook group in the last week? If not, you still have another week - get to it! LOL!

For now though, it's time to hop on over to the wonderful Siobhan's blog. Give a little 'rawr!' as you go!

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC #258: Wrapped In Plaid

Hi!

Hello, and welcome to our second last CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop for 2019. After next week's challenge, the DT will be taking a little break until January. This week, though, we are looking at the Wrapped In Plaid suite in the Holiday Catalogue. Did you come from Siobhan's blog, or are you starting here? You know the drill - just keep going until you get to where you started!

I have a little confession to make - I really dislike plaid! There are some really gorgeous projects in the suite, but I just can't get past the plaid. So when I was looking at the cards, trying to decide which one to CASE, I had to think a bit laterally. In the end I chose this card from page 15.

The colours really appealed to me, so that's what I chose to CASE - the colour combo. The colours used in the catalogue card are Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Garden Green, Pretty Peacock, Cherry Cobbler and Gold Glimmer. I used all of these, except I swapped Very Vanilla for Whisper White, on my card, plus Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Happy Birthday To You, Sale-A-Bration, Varied Vases, Watercolouring, Subtles DSP

I was so thrilled with how this turned out. I stamped the cake from the new Sale-A-Bration set, Happy Birthday To You, in Stazon on watercolour paper, and then coloured the image using my Aqua Painter and ink pads. I chopped a piece of Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon in half longways and added it to the top and bottom of my image panel. I also used some retired Gold Thread to bring in some more of the gold in the colour combo.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Happy Birthday To You, Sale-A-Bration, Varied Vases, Watercolouring, Subtles DSP

Speaking of gold, it's a little tricky to photograph, but the flower centres, buds and the cake plate are all coloured with Golden Glitz Delicata ink. I simply tapped the inkpad onto a clear block and then used my Aqua Painter to pick it up and paint it on, just like our regular ink.

I also used the Golden Glitz ink to stamp the cake again on the inside of my card.

Do you like the Wrapped In Plaid Suite? Luckily for me, you don't have to like it to enter our challenge, you can take your inspiration from anything in pages 12-17 of the Holiday catalogue. You can add your card to our Facebook group to enter.

Thanks for stopping by! You can continue the hop by clicking on the next button below. This will take you to Julia's blog - I'm pretty sure she falls into the 'love' category with the Wrapped In Plaid Suite!

CTC #250: CASE A Layout

Hi!

Welcome to the CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop! Have you arrived here from Rebecca's blog, or are you just starting here? Either way is totally OK, just keep on hopping until you get back to where you started.

This week Rebecca has selected a page from the Holiday Catalogue for us to CASE a layout. You can choose any of the cards and make another based on the design of the card. Which one catches your eye?

The feathery Pretty Peacock card at the bottom right of the page caught my eye. I nearly pulled out my Friends Of A Feather Paper Pumpkin kit, but then I remembered that there was some DSP in the Bird Ballad DSP that had a similar look as the DSP on the catalogue card, with a white design on a coloured background.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hugs From Shelli, Magnolia Blooms, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Paper Pumpkin, Watercolour Pencils

So in the end I did use a Paper Pumpkin kit, but it was the Hug From Shelli kit. I stamped the sprig of flowers around my Pretty Peacock card base in matching ink, and then a few in Memento to pop under the label. These I coloured with my Watercolour Pencils and Wink Of Stella.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hugs From Shelli, Magnolia Blooms, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Paper Pumpkin, Watercolour Pencils

The label was also from the PP kit, and it was stamped with the Happy Birthday from Magnolia Blooms. I layered some of the twine from the PP kit under the label as a nod to the original card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hugs From Shelli, Magnolia Blooms, Varied Vases, Bird Ballad DSP, Paper Pumpkin, Watercolour Pencils

I had a few extra coloured sprigs, so they went on the inside. Such an abundance of flowers, I love it!

That's it from me, so it's nearly time to hop on over to the next blog. Don't forget to check out our Facebook group, where you can see everyone's cards for the weekly challenges and add your own. You don't need a blog or fancy equipment, just snap a nice picture of your card and add it to the group. Too easy!

Don't forget to complete the hop first though! Next you're off to see what the wonderful Shannon has created.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #474: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Hooray for Friday! The weather in finally starting to get better here, so I'm excited for the weekend. What better way to kick off the weekend with the new Just Add Ink challenge? This week we have a beautiful colour combination, suggested by Jo.

If you look at this week's Design Team cards, it's clear that we were unanimous that this combo is for feminine, floral cards - what do you think?

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Varied Vases Bundle, Gold Foil

I had about 5 minutes in which to make my card this week, so I went ultra simple with my design. I pulled a few cardstock strips from my scraps and trimmed them to the same width before adding them to my card base. A punched gold vase and some stamped flowers and sentiment and I was done with the front! The stamps and punch are from the Varied Vases bundle. I love the font in this set, it's sort of handwritten if you have lovely handwriting - I do not!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Varied Vases Bundle, Gold Foil

I was very impressed with how well I managed to line up the solid stamp for this pair of flowers - what do you think? LOL!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Varied Vases Bundle, Gold Foil

I repeated the design on the inside, just lower and different vase and flowers. I had to punch both vases at the one time, so I certainly wasn't going to let this one go to waste!

What will you do with this colour combination? Do you see florals, or something different? Add your card to the gallery on the Just Add Ink blog - I can't wait to see it!

Bye for now,

Tina
