JAI #398: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink Challenge! This week Patrice has given us this gorgeous colour combination to work with.

Isn't it fabulous? I decided to use my Beautiful Peacock Sale-A-Bration set to create a card.

I love the flourish stamp, so I started by stamping it twice on each side of the Cardin Sahara Sand. I then stamped the little dotted stamp over the top in Berry Burst, followed by the flowers in two sizes in the same colour.

I spotted a couple of scraps of the metallic edged Berry Burst ribbon on my desk, so I decided to add them to the card too. I adhered them to the top of the Sahara Sand circle, and then adhered a smaller Berry Burst circle over the top. It was mostly to hide the ends of the ribbon, but it also adds a nice, surprise, pop of colour when you look from the side.

I finished the inside with some of the same stamping. No rhinestones on the inside though!

You can join in with the fun over at the Just Add Ink blog. Come have a look at the Design Team's cards, and then link up your own. It's a fab combo to play with!

Another Scrappy Peacock

Hi!

I mentioned in a previous post that instead of tidying my craft space, as I usually do each summer, I got sidetracked by some DSP, a peacock and my new Stamparatus. I used the Stamparatus to stamp the peacock, but I had so much fun that I decided to stamp it in backwards order.

What do I mean by backwards order? Well, usually you'd stamp the body, then the tail, then the flourishy bit, and finally the dots. To do it backwards, I simply started with the dots. It was fun seeing the image form that way.

One of the key benefits of the Stamparatus is that it stamps in exactly the same place, over and over again. In this case, the Pacific Point tail didn't stamp fully, so I was able to reink the stamp and try again. Yay! How many times have you stamped a sentiment that doesn't all stamp so you have to try to fix it, and it ends up blurry or looking worse than it did before you tried? No longer a problem!

There are a few cute little sequin type stamps in the Beautiful Peacock SAB set. It's sometimes easy to over look these. I used them on the front in the circles that were embossed using the Polka Dot Basics TIEF, and also on the inside to add some more colour.

Am I selling you on the Stamparatus yet? LOL

A Scrappy Peacock

Hi!

I'm back for another year of blogging!

One of the things I try to get done each summer is a huge tidy up of my craft space. I got a little bit done before I came across some scraps of Birthday Memories DSP. I straight away thought that the colours would work well with the new Beautiful Peacock stamp set. Given that my new Stamparatus had just arrived, stamping won over more cleaning!

Do you agree? I think the bright, cheerful colours work nicely! My favourite paper from the Birthday Memories DSP pack is the striped sheet, so I wanted to make it a secondary feature of the card.

The peacock was so easy to stamp using the Stamparatus. You simply place the stamp where you want it, use the plate to pick it up, ink it and then stamp it exactly where you want it. If you're local to me and want to have a go, just get in touch! If you aren't, there are a heap of videos online showing how to use it.

The peacock in the middle was stamped free hand - no Stamparatus. You can definitely tell, as it's not lined up as well as on the front. Oh well!

Tina

AWH HOC: Final Week!

Hi!

Can you believe that it's the final week of The Heart Of Christmas? I can't! That would be like admitting that it's nearly Christmas!

I'ave had a great time making cards for these blog shares each week - it's been a good way of making sure I've made a decent start on my stash of Christmas cards.

This week I've created a very Australian bush look wreath - do you agree that it looks like a wreath made of gum leaves? You wouldn't guess that the stamp is actually meant to be a peacock tail! The stamp is from a new set called Beautiful Peacock, and it's one of the upcoming Sale-A-Bration sets.

I lightly drew a circle on some Very Vanilla yardstick by tracing around the bottom of an old Embossing Paste pot. I then stamped the image 5 times around the circle in Garden Green ink, and then a further 5 times in Lemon Lime Twist ink. I offset them, so that it made a smoother circle shape. If you look closely at the separate image, you can see that it's a bit of a scallopy looking circle in just one colour, so you definitely need the two colours to smooth it out.

I followed the same process for the inside, except for only making a half-wreath. You can see on both that I've stamped some Cherry Cobbler 'berries' using another stamp from the Beautiful Peacock set.

As usual, you can find links for the rest of the group over on Claire's blog. I've loved checking out everyone's cards each week - they are so inspirational.

Bye for now,

Tina
