JAI 622: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Hooray for Friday and a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a Choose Two challenge for you, suggested by Nikki.

If you're new to our challenges, a Choose Two challenge is just that: choose two of the three options and make a card using them. This time it's Friend, Foliage or Masking. One of the two was a no-brainer for me, I was just left to choose between masking and foliage.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps The One With The Friend, Ink Road Stamps The One Where It's Your Birthday, Heffy Doodle Cityscape Stencil, Mama Elephant Cityscape Die, Copics, Pop Culture Card

Masking won, as it made more sense for the friend on my card! I used a Hefty Doodle Cityscape stencil to mask off the bottom of my card. I used some Wild Honey Distress Oxide on the Basic Balck cardstock. My aim was to get a yellow glow of lights, but the cardstock just soaked up the ink and made it more green than I wanted. Oh well!! I flicked some Frost White shimmer paint over the top, before removing the mask, to look like a starry sky.

My friend comes from a Kindred Stamps set, called The One With The Friend. I coloured him with my Copic markers and popped him up over a die cut layer. The die I used was Cityscape, from Mama Elephant. Finally, the sentiment is from an Ink Road Stamps set, called The One Where It's Your Birthday.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps The One With The Friend, Ink Road Stamps The One Where It's Your Birthday, Heffy Doodle Cityscape Stencil, Mama Elephant Cityscape Die, Copics, Pop Culture Card

I used the same Mama Elephant Die, Distress Oxide and Ink Road Stamps set to finish off the inside. The inking behind the city was what I was going for on the front, it was just a bit too ambitious on black cardstock!

That's all from me for this week's challenge, but we'd love for you to play along with us. Which two will you choose? You can see the rest of this week's Design Team cards over on the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll also find our Linky for the challenge.

Bye for now,

JAI 607: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Ahh, I always get to this part of the week with a big sigh. It's Friday, and it's a long weekend, and I'm looking forward to the downtime! What better way to start the weekend with the new Just Add Ink challenge?

This week it's a Choose Two, between coffee, tea and friend. Di suggested this challenge, and the Design Team have certainly had fun with it! After much thought and flicking through my stamp collection, I decided to go with coffee and a Friend.

Hehe, I couldn't resist pulling out my Kindred Stamps set, The One With The Friend. Perfect for this challenge, don't you think? The waitress was the only choice of Friend for my card that could possibly be made.

scissorspapercard, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, The One With The Friend, The One Where It's Your Birthday, Friendly Frames Dies, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Card

I paired her with some Ink Road Stamps (The One Where It's Your Birthday) for the background, and framed her with the Friendly Frame diecut, also from Ink Road. I created the background by putting the coffee cup and sentiment on the one block and then stamping them all over the cardstock using Versamark ink. I mostly eyeballed it, but to keep it even, I lined up the coffee cup under the word 'your'. It worked out pretty well!

The coffee mug is from the Kindred Stamps set, and I used it again on the inside. It was coloured with my Copic markers, as was the Friend on the front.

That's all from me for this week's challenge, but your job is just starting. Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. Then you can link up your card, after you've made the difficult choice - which two of tea, coffee or friend will you select?

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI 559: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me once again for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week, Di has challenged us to Choose Two to add to our cards, the choices being Stitching, Stripes or Paper Strips.

I'm a sucker for a stitched die, so the stitching part of the decision was a no-brainer. Hmm, then to pick stripes or paper strips?

The stripes were an obvious choice after choosing to use this retro TV die from Kindred Stamps as a feature. Does the paper remind you a bit of the old test patterns? Or are you too young to remember those, back when TV stations didn't air programs 24 hours a day.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Sweet Stamp Shop, Just Add Ink, TV Time Die, Spoiler Alert, Pleased As Punch DSP, Galactic Adventures The Third, The One With The Friend

I cropped the TV from Silver Foil paper, with the accent pieces in Basic Black. The DSP is from last year's Sale-A-Bration, called Pleased As Punch. The 'spoiler alert' sentiment is from a Sweet Stamp Shop set. The company no longer exists, so I can't find out the name of the stamp set, unfortunately.

The inside sentiment is from two different Kindred Stamps sets, called The One With The Friend and Galactic Adventures The Third. This card is going to someone who watches a lot of TV/Movies and will get a laugh from the getting old bit. That's one of the things I love about making cards- the ability to make the perfect card for a loved one.

That's all from me for now, but please do pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You'll also find our linky, where you can enter your card in our challenge. Which two will you choose?

JAI 556: Just Add A Slimline Card

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Lou has challenged us to make Slimline cards. Fun!

Are you a fan of Slimline cards? I haven't made many - mostly because I never think to! When I do remember to make one, I have fun. The extra space to play with is great, especially when creating a scene, which is where I went with this week's card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps, Mama Elephant, The One With The Friend, Cityscape Die, Stampin' Blends, Slimline Card

I started by cutting my base card, which is sized to fit in a business sized envelope, so it's 8 1/4"square, scored at 4 1/8". The next two layers are just 1/2" and 5/8" smaller and popped up on Dimensionals. The background die is from Mama Elephant, and is called Cityscape. I wish I'd popped out more windows before I popped it up on my card, but I was feeling very lazy at the time!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps, Mama Elephant, The One With The Friend, Cityscape Die, Stampin' Blends, Slimline Card

The characters on my card are all very much at home in the big city, so the die was the perfect choice for the background, I think. As I mentioned, I was in a lazy mood when I made the card, so I've not done any fancy colouring on the characters, they are all coloured with just one Blend shade per colour.

Were you wondering where the other two characters were? Here they are! Even with the extra space of a Slimline card, they would have crowded the front too much, so I held them back for the inside. The characters and sentiments are all from a Kindred Stamps set, called The One With The Friend.

That's all from me tonight, but please do pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design team cards. You can also link your card to our challenge. Hmm, what will you put on your Slimline card?

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #538: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Yay, it's Friday, which means it's time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge! This week Patrice has designed a fabulous sketch to guide our creativity.

I started by trying to play around with the new Ice Cream Corner Suite stuff, but I just couldn't make anything work to my satisfaction. Then I remembered some new fun stuff that I'd received from the USA recently. Perfect!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Ink Road Stamps, Kindred Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With All The Stamps Icons, The One With The Friend, Friendly Frames Dies, Subtle 3DEF

Do you recognise this yellow frame on a purple door? It's from the very iconic TV show, Friends. Oh, how I loved that show! So naturally, I couldn't resist when Ink Road Stamps released a line of stamps and dies. The coffee image was stamped twice - once in Shaded Spruce and again in Memento. I then cropped it with circle punches and layered the black part of the image over the green part to get the two colours.

The Gorgeous Grape cardstock was run through my Big Shot with the Subtle 3DEF - I thought that made it look a little more like the door upon which the frame hangs in the TV show. The sentiment is a die that I've run through the Big Shot with Black cardstock, backed with a piece of White card.

If you never watched Friends, you may not get the lobster reference. Phoebe believed that lobsters mated for life, and so she tells Ross to be patient, because Rachel is his lobster. Phoebe's quirky way of saying they were meant to be together. So guess when this card will be used? I'll give it to Rob for Valentine's Day. We don't usually 'do' Valentine's, but he will like getting the card.

Please head on over to the Just Add Ink Blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You'll also be able to link up your card for our challenge. What will you make with the sketch?

JAI #467: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Lou has designed a fantastic sketch for us to use. I love a good sketch challenge!

I had a hankering to pull out some of my pop culture stamps to have a play with this sketch. After a flick through, I settled on two stamp sets that coordinate perfectly that are from two of my favourite pop culture companies, Kindred Stamps and The Ink Road Stamps.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

Do you recognise the character? He spent a lot of time sipping coffee in New York with his 5 friends. The sentiment, 'how you doin'?' was a pretty iconic pick up line of his! The character is from "The One With The Friend' from Kindred, and the couch and sentiment are from "The One With All The Stamps" from The Ink Road.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

I coloured the character and the couch with my Copic markers. I've been playing around a bit with darker shadow lines, and this was a great opportunity to try them out again.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

The inside sentiment is also from Kindred. It's a play on the episode titles of the TV show - every single episode name started with "The One Where...", which is also why both the stamp sets have similar names! It's one of my favourite TV shows that I watched every week when it was on TV. I have the boxed set so that I can watch it all again, I just lack the time! Oh well, one day 😊

That's it from me, not it's time to hop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can see the rest of this week's Design team cards. You can also link up your card and play along in our challenge. If you don't have a blog you can always email us your card and we can link it up for you.

Bye for now,
