AWH HOC Week 14

Hi!

 Hello, and welcome to the new Heart Of Christmas Blog Share by the Art With Heart Team. This week I was a little time poor for a few reasons, so I decided to CASE myself, using a class card kit that I had spare. As my good friend Rachel says, sometimes you need to work smarter, not harder!

I only made two small changes to the front of the card - on the original I stacked the 'merry' by cutting three in Whisper White and one in Solver foil, and then gluing them together in a stack before gluing them to my card. For today's card, I only used the Silver Foil 'merry'.

 

The second change was to use my Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink to stamp the tin stars on the card base - on my original I used Coastal Cabana to match the cardstock. 

My final change, on the inside, was also a small one. I stamped some of the small stars again in the Delicata ink underneath the red and white star.

CTC #255: Night Before Christmas DSP

Welcome once again to the newest CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. I'm just back from Sydney, where I joined my Stampin' Up! Demo friends for a day of fun, stamping and training and two new catalogues! I have so much news to share, but for now it's on with the Blog Hop! Have you come here from Siobhan's blog, or are you starting here? Either way, just keep going until you get back to where you started.

This week we are CASEing the Night Before Christmas DSP, and a layout from page 24 of the Holiday Catalogue. My eye was immediately caught by this silhouette card:

Isn't it gorgeous? I loved the sponged background and the silhouette of Santa and his sleigh, dashing across the snowy sky.

I started my background by brayering a layer of Balmy Blue ink on Whisper White cardstock. I then used my Sponge Dauber to add a layer of Pretty Peacock ink. I've found that the darker ink blends better when it's applied over a lighter ink, verses directly to the cardstock. I finished the background by splattering both water and some Frost White Shimmer Paint over the sponged areas. Hopefully it looks like a snowy sky! The ground was just hand cut from a piece of Glimmer Paper

I heat embossed the sentiment from So Many Stars in Silver Embossing Powder on a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock. I wanted the banner to be there, but not glaring, which is why I chose Pretty Peacock card rather than something that would stand out more. I finished it off with a Whisper White twine bow and a small piece of Glimmer Paper peeking out from underneath.

I used the offcut of Glimmer Paper from the front of the card to create another snowy hill on the inside. I brayered more Pretty Peacock ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card, and then splattered it with water before punching with the Pine Tree punch. A little brayered Balmy Blue ink along the bottom, and the inside was done!

CTC #253: Come To Gather Suite

Hello, and welcome back to a new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Did you come here from Rebecca's blog, or start here? It doesn't matter, just keep going until you get back to where you started!

This week we are CASEing a card from the Come To Gather Suite, from the Holiday Catalogue. You can choose any project from pages 46 to 51 to CASE. I couldn't go past this cute little birdie card from page 50. Aren't those birds so adorable?

I don't actually have the Birds Of A Feather stamp set, so I had to improvise, which is certainly the name of the game when CASEing!

I started by stamping the base of my Coastal Cabana card with the little star cluster from So Many Stars. The stars were cut from the coordinating Stitched Stars dies using Real Red and Whisper White card, with Silver Foil. The word 'merry' was cut four times - three Whisper White and one Silver Foil - and then stacked, with the Foil layer on top.

Hopefully you can see that the Coastal Cabana layer that they all sit on was embossed with the Subtle folder. It's a fabulous folder for adding just a little bit of extra oomph to a card.

The inside was finished with another layered star and a sentiment from Greatest Part Of Christmas.

AWH HOC Week 11

Hello, and welcome to the Art With Heart team's heart Of Christmas Blog Share. I'm hosting again this week, while Claire has some family committments to keep her busy. It's Week 11 this week, and we are inching ever closer to the big day!

This week I have a simple card that I made as a class sample. It uses quite a few different products from the Holiday Catalogue, so maybe simple isn't the right word! I started by cropping a Sitiched Circle in Very Vanilla, and then used my Pine Tree punch to punch an opening in the circle. I backed it with some DSP from the Night Before Christmas DSP pack. I love how it looks like lights on the tree. I topped the tree with a copper Star Designer Element.

The DSP on the base is also from the Night Before Christmas pack. I adhered a strip of Copper Foil to each long edge, and then I wrapped a length of the Christmas Very Vanilla/Copper Classic Weave Ribbon around it before I adhered it all to the base. Oooh, I nearly forgot that I stamped the tiny stars from So Many Stars on the base card using Celestial Copper Delicata Ink before adding the rest.

The inside is nice and simple, with more stars across the bottom and a sentiment from So Many Stars. It leaves a lot of room for writing a Christmas message to the recipient.

CTC #246: Feels Like Frost

Woo hoo, time for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop! It's been a glorious weekend here in Adelaide, so I'm glad I got my card done early in the week, as I've been out enjoying the sunshine. How does lunch at a McLaren Vale winery with friends sound, followed by a night with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra watching Harry Potter? It was as perfect as you can imagine! On a more mum note, it's also been perfect clothes washing weather. Can't escape that chore!

Anyway, on to this week's challenge! We are CASEing the cards and colours in the Feels Like Frost suite of products. The blues, greens and purples are so pretty together! I'm a real blue girl though, and this card at the bottom of the page caught my eye.

The Pretty Peacock and Silver look stunning together! I've made quite a few Pretty Peacock cards lately though, so I decided to switch it our for some blues. Here's what I came up with.

I started by using my sponge brayer to add some Seaside Spray ink to the right 2/3rds of the card, and then some Night Of Navy over the right third. I didn't add a heap of ink, and I didn't want really dark navy, just a hint of it. I then stamped the stars all over using my Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink.

I don't have any snowflakes in my collection of dies, so I used my new stars instead. I think they work just as well! A strip of Seaside Spray In Colour DSP and some Silver Glimmer Paper finish off the front of the card nicely. Oh, and I can't forget the sequins!

Isn't that big star stamp gorgeous? It also comes with a filler stamp, but I didn't want to make it too heavy, or the sentiment would have got lost.

AWH HOC Week 4

Welcome to the new week of Heart Of Christmas by the Art With Heart Team. Have you been following along each week? It's great seeing everyone's cards each week, all so different, but all so beautiful.

Having said that, I nearly made a different card for this week's Blog Share, as I wan't sure this one was beautiful enough. Then I thought about how silly that was - our cards don't need to be spectacular all of the time, it's nice to make some simpler designs too.

I started with the die cut deer from the Detailed Deer dies. I cropped it with a Stitched Rectangle die, and then used the next size up to crop a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock. I then used the die two sizes smaller than that one to create a frame of Pretty Peacock. It was wide enough to attach the Crumb Cake deer panel, but not so wide that it could be seen underneath. I hope you get what I mean!

This was all popped up over a piece of DSP from the Night Before Christmas pack. I guess if you wanted to step up the card, you could turn the deer into a shaker card by adding a piece of Window Sheet and some sequins to the card. It wouldn't be hard at all!

The Pretty Peacock panel that I used on the front was cropped from a larger piece of card, so I used the off cut to frame the Whisper White writing panel for the inside, along with the left over strip of DSP from the front of the card. So that the piece stood out from the Pretty Peacock base I trimmed it a little smaller and added a thin matt of Crumb Cake cardstock. Both sentiments on the card are from the So Many Stars stamp set.

AWH HOC Week 3

Welcome to Week 3 of the Art With Heart Blog Share for the Heart Of Christmas. Today's an extra special day - the Holiday Catalogue has gone live, so you can finally get your hands on the products you've been seeing SU Demonstrators playing with over the past month or so. I have lots of these new products on my card tonight!

I started by chopping into a different sheet in the Brightly Gleaming SDSP. I had to move on from the stars eventually! This gorgeous Pretty Peacock sheet also has the Copper Foil accents in the design, so I used some plain Copper Foil to matt the DSP. The stars paper is also from the Brightly Gleaming pack, but I have used a sheet without the copper. There is such thing as too much of a good thing!

The stars were die cut from the new Stitched Stars Dies, and then stamped with a pair of images from So Many Stars. Each of the sections that reaches into the arm of the star is one stamp, so I had to line it up and stamp is 5 times, once in each arm. I then added a small star to the middle, and some Pretty Peacock Rhinestones at the tip of each arm.

Did you notice the sentiment? It's actually a new ribbon from the Holiday Catalogue, and features the two different fonts in Copper Print. I have heard that it can be coloured with Blends, which opens up a whole range of possibilities!

I used some DSP and Copper Foil offcuts from the front to decorate the inside, along with a sentiment from So Many Stars.

AWH August Blog Hop: Christmas

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative Christmas projects, many featuring products from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue which starts on the 4th of September. If you would like a copy of the 2019 - 2020 Annual Catalogue or the new Holiday Catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

I try to make at least one purple Christmas card each year, and this year I got in early! The second thing I fell in love with in the Holiday Catalogue (the first was Elfie) was the So Many Stars bundle. It's a huge bundle - 21 stamps and 23 dies. Woah! The best part are the Stitched Stars Dies - perfect for a range of occasions, not just Christmas. I think they will find a permanent place in my collection.

This star swish die is so pretty! It has two different stamps that coordinate. The stamped images fill in the open star shapes in the die. I have stamped the stars in the new Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink. I can't rave about this ink enough - it dries fairly quickly and then does not smudge! Truly the best metallic inks available, I think. Perfect for those like me that like the metallic look but don't want to pull out their heat embossing tools!

I also used the Silvery Shimmer ink to stamp the tiny star cluster stamp on the card base. Such a pretty, subtle effect. You ma also be able to see a small star in the middle of the O in Joy. Once I started stamping with the ink, I just couldn't stop! I will certainly be adding the Celestial Copper and Golden Glitz pads to future orders!

When I cut the star swish die I ended up with the five stars out of the die. I'm never one to waste anything, so on the inside they go! I originally only put two stars, intending to save the other three for another card. However, they usually end up in the black hole somewhere on my desk, never to be seen again, so I ended up adding them to my card.

I really like this card, so I think I'll try it in other combos too. Night Of Navy with Balmy Blue and Golden Glitz maybe? I like the sound of that!
