JAI #252: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

This week at Just Add Ink we have a sketch challenge for you, designed by the lovely Kim. This sketch struck a bit of fear into the hearts of some of the Design Team, as it features a tilted panel! LOL, it's funny the things that make you nervous!  Having said that, we all agreed in the end that the sketch was fabulous and that really, a tilted panel can be a lot of fun.

My first thought was to use one of the new Butterflies Thinlits instead of the circle. At the time I made this card I'd only just got the butterflies and I was putting them on everything! Using the butterflies meant rotating the sketch though.

I have been wanting to use the Postcard and World Map stamps together for a while and decided now was the time.  However, the card was now the wrong orientation for the stamp, so I had to substitute a piece of the Typeset SDSP instead. I think it works beautifully!

I used Blackberry Bliss, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as my colour combination.  Blackberry Bliss is such a strong colour.  I really love it and probably should use it more!

So, what do you see in this sketch? The Design Team have interpreted it in a variety of different ways.  Why don't you pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog to take a look?

Bye for now,

Get Well Card

Hi!

Apologies for the late posting today.  School holidays.  Christmas.  Need I say more?

Edit: I realised today that I actually posted this a day early, not half a day late as I thought!  Ooops!  I stand by my original comment: School holidays. Christmas. Need I say more? lol

Today's card was one I made for a friend undergoing the biggest battle of her life.

I made the card for a group of us to sign to wish her well for the surgery she was facing.

This was my first use of the Postcard stamp and the Simply Sketched hostess set.  I love both stamp sets.

I really liked this combination of sentiments for this card - so appropriate!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #178: Just Add Snowflakes!

Hi!

It's great to be back doing the Just Add Ink challenges again.

This week is a tricky one for me - to Just Add Snowflakes. With the arrival of the new catalogue I had a big clear out of my retired stamps.  When I went looking for something for this card I realised I had no snowflake stamps left. Hmmm, time for the old thinking cap!

I decided to used the rock salt technique to create the look of snowflakes.  It's pretty easy, you just grind some rock salt onto your cardstock and run it through the big shot. It creates lots of little divots in the cardstock in a random pattern that you then colour over to highlight. Many people brayer, but not being confident with the brayer I decided to sponge the colour on.  I started with a layer of Soft Sky over the whole card front, then Marina Mist from the ground up, finishing with Night Of Navy over the top third.

Here's a closer look.  You can see that I also spritzed the finished card with some shimmer paint (retired) to give some extra effect.

I kept the inside simple, by just stamping the Lovely As A Tree stamp again in Soft Sky that I stamped off once.

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Sweet Essentials, Postcard, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink: Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Night Of Navy, Early Espresso
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Piercing Tool, Piercing Mat, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Sponges, Shimmer Paint (retired), Rock Salt

I hope you can play along at Just Add Ink this week,

Bye for now,

Tina
