JAI 592: Just Choose Two

Hi!

Hooray, it's both Friday and time for the new Just Add Ink challenge - both of which bring me joy! Nikki has challenged us to Choose Two from Texture, Patterned Paper, or Layers to add to our cards.

After a bit of thought I decided that I'd go with layers and texture, with the layered element being my Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks.

I dug up some of my long-retired Corrugated Cardstock to provide the textural element of my card. The flowers were stencilled over the top using Flirty Flamingo, Polished Pink, Granny Apple Green and Just Jade. I also snuck in a bit of layering with the sentiment.

My husband saw my card this morning and confessed that he'd had to run his fingers over it to see if it was inked or embroidered. I was thrilled, as the faux-embroidery look was exactly what I was going for!

I repeated the stencilling on the inside - it looks so different on flat cardstock! The textured is definitely more forgiving on errors.

Which two will you choose for this week's challenge? I can't wait to see what you make. You can join our challenge by adding your card to the linky on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also see the rest of the Design Team cards - well worth a look!

Bye for now,

CTC 354: Abstract Beauty Suite

Hi!

Hooray, it's time once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we have returned to the Mini Catalogue and are asking you to CASE a project from the Abstract Beauty Suite pages of the catalogue.

At the time I made my card I was waiting for the dies to arrive, so instead of waiting I decided to choose a card that didn't use the dies. I settled on the card below.

I really liked the strong diagonal line in this card, with the busier DSP at the bottom of the card. I didn't want to make a small card, so I had to translate the idea to a regular sized card. I also thought that it's been while since I've used my Sweet As A Peach stamp set (other than for the sentiments), so that's what I decided to use.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I chose my DSP for this card based on the original card - I tried to get a plainer pattern on top, with the busier pattern at the bottom. I used some retired ribbon to hide the join. A few rhinestones were added instead of the hearts on the original card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I stamped the peaches using both Pale Papaya and Calypso Coral ink. I inked the whole stamp with Papaya ink and then sponged some Coral ink along the sides. It's subtle, but I was pleased with the effect!

The DSP panel I created for the front of the card was actually full sized before I cropped it. As you can see, I've used the left over frame on the inside of the card, along with another stamped peach.

It's very easy to join in with our challenge, you just need to upload a photo of your card into our Facebook Group. We'd love for you to play along.

But before you dash off, please do continue your way around our blog hop. The next stop is the very clever Julia Quinn, who has a sweet fancy fold card for you to see.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 349: CASE The Mini Catalogue

 Hi!

Woah, it's time for the final CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop for the year. I'm still in disbelief that Christmas and the New Year are right around the corner!

This week we are asking you to CASE any project from the current Mini Catalogue. One last hurrah, as it will be retired by the time we start up our challenges in 2022.

I chose this Penguin Place cutie card, as I am well and truly finished with Christmas cards - I wanted to make anything but a Christmas card!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Penguin Place Bundle, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Supple Shimmer Paper

One of my pre-order purchases from the upcoming Mini Catalogue is this new Supple Shimmer paper. There's one sheet of this blue and another of pink. It's a sort or iridescent blue, which I thought worked well as a sky behind the penguin. What do you think?

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Penguin Place Bundle, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Supple Shimmer Paper

It's very shimmery at the right angle! I otherwise mostly kept the card the same. I popped the sentiment at the bottom of the card so that I have the option to add a number to the balloon at a later date.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Penguin Place Bundle, Peach Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Supple Shimmer Paper

I used the offcut Shimmer paper as a border on the inside of my card. Another cute little penguin with his balloon finishes off the inside.

To join in with us for our Challenge, all you need to do is upload a photo of your card into our Facebook group. We can't wait to see you play along with us.

I'm the last stop on our BLog Hop tonight, if you started in the FB group. If you started somewhere in the middle, keep on hopping until you get back to where you started. Our first hopper tonight was Sandra, who has made a very sweet Christmas card.

CTC 343: CASE An Animal Card

Hi!

Have you had a lovely weekend? I hope so! I play the Bass Clarinet in a concert band, and I just got home from playing in a concert to celebrate the 45th anniversary of our local choral society. Our local bagpipe band also played - it was so great seeing the three groups supporting each other with a fabulous concert.

Our CASEing The Catty challenge this week asks your to CASE a project that features an animal. It can be from either catalogue, so there's a heap of different choices. After a flick through of both catalogues, I chose this gorgeous butterfly card from page 106 of the Annual Catalogue.

I don't have the DSP that was used for the catalogue sample, so I decided to make a completely different background for my card. I chose the gold striped DSP from the Expressions In Ink DSP. I cut it a little narrower than usual so that you get peeks of the Misty Moonlight card base underneath.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Expressions In Ink SDSP, Butterfly Bijou DSP, Brilliant Wings Dies, Peach Dies

I cheated a little with the butterflies - once again I had a time-poor week. The retired Butterfly Bijou DSP was recently on the Clearance Rack, and I was lucky enough to score a pack. The butterflies are cropped from a sheet of the paper using my Brilliant Wings Dies. Of course, if you don't have this DSP you could stamp and colour the butterflies. If you're not in the mood to colour, stamp the butterflies on some DSP and then crop them - instant colour!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Expressions In Ink SDSP, Butterfly Bijou DSP, Brilliant Wings Dies, Peach Dies

A Gold Foil Butterfly and sentiment from Sweet As A Peach, cropped with a Peach Die, were some of the finishing touches for the front of the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Expressions In Ink SDSP, Butterfly Bijou DSP, Brilliant Wings Dies, Peach Dies

The inside of my card was made using leftovers from the front. The DSP strip was left after I'd cropped the front piece, and the butterfly was an extra from the sheet I die cut for the front. It certainly makes it easier to have these left over bits and pieces.

We'd love for you to play along with our challenge, which you can do by making a card and adding it to our Facebook group. You don't need a blog or anything fancy, just join the group, take a snap and upload the photo. Easy!

Before you dash off to get creating, please do finish our hop! The next stop along the way is my fellow South Aussie, the lovely Michelle Stradz. Her card for tonight's hop is a super-adorable card that made me go "awww" when I saw it.

JAI 575: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Are you ready for the end of the working week, and the start of the new Just Add Ink challenge? I certainly am, so let's get into it!

How pretty are these colours that Patrice has put together for us? I never would have thought to put the two new In Colours together, but I was quite pleased with how they turned out.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Plentiful Plants, Sweet Sentiments Builder, Perfect Plants Dies, Peach Dies

It's very interesting how the Soft Succulent has toned down the brighter Polished Pink in the striped section of my card. I created this by covering some Whisper White cardstock with Adhesive Sheet, and then applied the strips of coloured card over the top.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Plentiful Plants, Sweet Sentiments Builder, Perfect Plants Dies, Peach Dies

I pulled gold into the combo with strips on either side of the striped panel, and also with the plant pot and a few sequins. The sentiments are from a Uniquely Creative set, called Sweet Sentiment Builder. The second half was cropped with a Peach Die.

To match the front of the card, I used a striped strip, cropped from the front piece, to decorate the inside, along with some more stamped images from Plentiful Plants.

Please jump on over to the Just Add Ink blog for the rest of this week's Design team cards using this gorgeous colour combo. You can also link up your card there - I'll be very interested to see what you do with these colours.

CTC 328: CASE The Sketch

 Hi!

Welcome to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we have chosen this card from page 33 to CASE, using the layout to guide our creativity.

Isn't it cute? Here it is, converted to a simple sketch so that you can more easily see the main elements of the card.

I looked at the rectangle layer and had the idea to extend the layer to the bottom of the card, so that's what I did! You'll see why soon 😊

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Bloom Where You're Planted DSP, Peach Dies, Tasteful Textile 3DEF

I fussy cut a large plant from the Bloom Where You're Planted DSP to use as the feature image on my card. The tall, thin shape suits the front perfectly. I used a few scraps of DSP and Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade cardstock to layer underneath, with a sentiment from Sweet As A Peach over the top.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Bloom Where You're Planted DSP, Peach Dies, Tasteful Textile 3DEF

Here's why I extended the panel to the bottom of the card - so that I could make it a partial front card. The DSP on either side of the main panel is actually adhered to the inside part of the card, but because the front is thinner, it can be seen from the front, too.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Bloom Where You're Planted DSP, Peach Dies, Tasteful Textile 3DEF

To decorate the inside, I fussy cut another plant from the DSP. The sentiment is also from the Sweet As A Peach stamp set.

We'd love for you to play along with our challenges, which are run through our Facebook Group. All you need to do is join the group and upload a photo of your card each week. Too easy!

Before you dash off to get creating, please do finish our blog hop - there's lots more inspiration to be seen! Next up is my lovely friend, Rachel, who is sure to have a visual treat for your eyes!

CTC 323: CASE A Card Featuring Food

 Hi!

Hooray, it's time for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. It's such a great way to end the weekend!

This week we are asking you to CASE any card that features food on it. There are lots of different options - fruits, berries, ice creams, biscuits, and cooking utensils, to name a few. Flipping through my Annual Catalogue for inspiration, I found this card made with the Sweet Strawberry bundle.

I liked how the leaves and flowers behind the strawberries were stamped directly on the DSP, and how they cascade down the front of the card. However, instead of strawberries, I chose to go with peaches and used the Sweet As A Peach bundle.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I started with the Pear Pizzazz DSP from the coordinating You're A Peach DSP. The leaves from the stamp set were stamped from the top right corner, down towards the bottom left. Although the stamp has blank spots where the peaches or flowers are meant to be stamped, I ignored this and just stamped the leaves a heap of times. I then stamped the flowers and peaches separately and adhered them over the top

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, You're A Peach DSP

Some where popped up, others adhered flat to the DSP. I also cropped some leaves for the peaches from a scrap of the DSP and added them to the card. The finishing touch were a few Bumblebee Enamel Dots.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Sweet As A Peach, Peach Dies, You're A Peach DSP

I kept the stamping much more simple on the inside - just the one set of leaves and flowers. I don't think it needed more than that.

That's my card for this week's challenge - what will you make? You can enter our challenge by posting a photo of your card in our Facebook group.

Before you race off to get inky, please do finish our blog hop! Next up is the lovely Sandra, with her super-cute card.
