JAI 587: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Hooray for Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am! Hopefully weekend means crafty time for you and that you can join in with the new Just Add Ink challenge.

This week Chantell is challenging us to Choose Two to add to our cards. Will you add a fancy edge, a circle or some twine? I chose to add circles and a fancy edge or two to my card.

I certainly have an abundance of circles on my card!! The background is a stamp set from Ink Road Stamps, called Full Circle Vol 3 Heroes. They are all individual stamps, but I used my Stamparatus upside down to stamp them all at once. What do I mean by that? I left the stamps on the backing sheet, laid it on the base of the Stamparatus. My cardstock was adhered to the flap so that I pushed the cardstock onto the stamps rather than the stamps onto the cardstock. It meant that I didn't have to fuss around lining up all 12 stamps, so it was much faster and easier. The stamped image was clear embossed on the cardstock.

While I had the embossing stuff out I also embossed the sentiment, which is from the Heroes stamp set. The superhero was coloured with a mix of Copics, Stampin' Blends and a Silver Metallic marker. I used Silver to match one of my fancy edges - the Silver Foil card base that I used. It's tricky to see the foil, as I photographed the card on a gloomy day.

My other fancy edge is the Stitched Dies I used - rectangles on the front and inside, and the circle on the front. The inside sentiment is from the Kindred Stamps set, called You're Super, as is the dude on the front.

We'd love to see which two you will choose for your card. You can enter our challenge by adding your card to the link on the Just Add Ink blog.

JAI 545: Just Add Shades Of Green

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week Lou has suggested that we use shades of green on our cards.

This one was a little tricky for me at first, as green isn't a colour I gravitate to very much. Then I remembered my pop culture stamps and an idea was born!

Who else could I choose but this big guy? He's the perfect character for this week's card. He's from a retired Kindred Stamps set, called You're Super, and I coloured him with my Shaded Spruce, Highland Heather and Basic Black Stampin' Blends. The sentiment is from another retired Kindred Stamps set, called Justice Is Served.

The background of my card was made by smooshing my Shaded Spruce ink pad onto my largest clear block, spritzing it with water and then placing my cardstock on top. I lifted it a few times and repositioned it to cover the whole piece with ink. The blotchy effect is very cool, if I do say so myself!

I used the offcut from the front of the card to matt my writing panel on the inside of my card. The icon image os from an Ink Road Stamps set, called Full Circle Vol 3: Heroes. I love it when stamps from different companies work together perfectly! The sentiment is from You're Super.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do head on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design team cards. I hope that you'll enter our challenge too - do you like green? Which shade (or shades) will you choose to use?

Bye for now,

A Super Card For A Super Kid

Hi!

Today I have a card I made for a friend of Hudson's. His 13th Birthday party was on the weekend, and we all had a fabulous time rollerskating. A lot of 13 year old kids are into super heroes, and I hoped this particular kid was no different!

The design of this card was CASEd from my good friend Chloe Evans. She's an amazing crafter and has been doing a heap of videos lately. I always try to watch when she does her Facebook Lives, but she also has a great YouTube channel. If you like watching paper crafting videos, I do suggest you check her out! Chloe posted a few cards she'd made using the brayered strip across the card. I couldn't wait to CASE, as I adored the cards she made.

It was very easy to do - I just masked off the section I wanted to colour using sticky notes and my grid paper as a guide and then brayered Daffodil Delight ink at one end and Pacific Point at the other. I flicked some water over the top and then stamped the sentiment once it had dried. My stripe is a little wider than Chloe's, but I needed mine wider to fit my sentiment.

How cool are these stamps? They are from a retired Kindred Stamps set called You're Super. I coloured this dude with my Watercolour Pencils and Blender Pen.

Most of the inside sentiment is also from the You're Super set, but the numbers are from a Stampin' Up! set called Family Party. Have you noticed it in the catalogue? It's not one that jumps out as a must have, but it's definitely one worth adding to your collection. It covers a wide range of family members, so that you can make a birthday card for anyone of any age. Go check it out!

JAI #424: Just Add Texture

Hi!

Hooray for a new Just Add Ink challenge! This week Di has challenged us to add texture to our cards. I toyed with the idea of using the Faux Silk technique on my card, but then a new stamp set arrived in the mail and I just had to use it!

I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a limited edition super themed box from Kindred Stamps that included a stamp set called You're Super. It arrived in the post just before Rob's birthday. He's mad on these super heroes, so it was a no brainer to use them on his card!

To add the texture on my card, I used my Pacific Point reinker to dye some Embossing Paste. I then used a retired mask to apply it to the front of my card. I was worried when I dyed the paste that I'd made it too dark, but it's actually dried lighter! The red zig zag paper was in the super pack from Kindred Stamps.

I stamped this patriotic Super Hero on Shimmery White cardstock using Memento ink and then coloured him using my Watercolour Pencils. Of course, I blended with my Wink Of Stella pen. It's a bit redundant using it on Shimmery White, but I love the way it blends the pencil so much that I just have to use it. I used my Pacific Point, Real Red, Calypso Coral, Basic Black and Basic Grey pencils to colour him in.

This inside sentiment is from another Kindred Stamps set called Building Blocks. The You're Super set had a sentiment that said 'Have a super birthday', but as I'd used super on the front it felt weird to add it to the inside too.

The Just Add Ink blog is where you'll find the rest of the textural cards made by the Design Team. I wonder what they'll think of to add texture? What are you thinking of? I can't wait to see!

Bye for now,

Tina
