MKPLxSU BLog Share: Retiring Kits

Hi!

This month the MKPLxSU Design Team have decided to focus on Retiring PLxSU Kits for our Blog Share. Sadly, all of the kits I have are retiring, so I was spoiled for choice. In the end I went with the Happy Times Collection. I quite like the slightly grungy, masculine look of the kit.

I used the kit to complete a double page layout of my youngest son's morning rituals. Hudson has a severe Intellectual Disability, so he is quite fixated on certain routines. Project Life is fabulous for documenting things like this! The photos aren't perfect - they are just snapped on my iPhone so the lighting and composition aren't great - but that really doesn't matter. The important thing is getting the story told.

Here's the left side of the layout. I was originally going to put the tea pictures on one side and the sock pictures on the other, but I found that I preferred the tea pictures across the top and the sock pictures along the bottom. It helps to link the two pages a little better. That's the beauty of PL - it's so easy to rearrange the different photos and cards on the page, as they are not fixed in place.

Here's the right side of the double page. You can see that I selected stars as the theme of my PL cards. There weren't enough 3x4 cards for each slot, so I ended up cutting two 4x6 cards in half to use in the top and bottom slots on each page.

This journaling card didn't have stars on it - so I changed that by adding a sticker banner from the Happy Times Accessory Pack that had stars on it. Easy!

Do you record these funny little rituals that your family members have? I think it's important before they get lost in the fog of time and poor memory. This is why I scrap.

Here are the other Design Team Blogs. They've used a variety of Retiring Kits to create their gorgeous layouts. Happy hopping!

JAI #274: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Oops!  I'm a little late with my Just Add Ink post this week - time is just flying by!

This week we have a really cool Inspiration picture for you.  I really love the neutral colours and the feeling of home in the pictures.

I've taken the colours, textures and the 'home' inspiration from the pictures and decided to do a cover page for my latest Project Life Album.  I'm documenting the improvements we have made to our home along the way.  It's an album I've wanted to do for a very long time!

I've pulled cards from a few different kits to get the look I wanted for the page.  I mostly stuck to the neutral color palette, but I couldn't help sneak a touch of blue in along the way.

As soon as I spied this cute little wood laser cut piece in the Happy Times Accessory Pack I knew I just had to have it for this project.  It's the perfect piece to start my album with.

I hope you're inspired by our picture this week and can play along with us at Just Add Ink.

Bye for now,

Tina

MKPLSU Blog Hop: Happy Times

Hi!

It's been a little while since I've been able to participate in a Memory Keeping With Project Life by Stampin' Up! challenge, but I'm back for July.  This month we have decided to focus on the Happy Times Collection.  The thing that most drew me to this Collection was the cute little wood laser cut house.  I haven't used it today because I intend to use it on the front page of the album.

I've been planning to put together an album of the renovations we have made to our house, and the Happy Times Collection is perfect to use - lots of happy home type sayings in the pack!

For this layout I have only used the Happy Times Accessory Pack to create the journalling card.  It was as quick as using the four star stickers in the corners, connected by some doodled lines and topped with the banner sticker.

I chose to use one of the new Variety Pack 2 pages on the second page of this layout as it suited the mix of photos I had. It's not a full sized 12x12 page, but I love the versatility as you can use a selection of both portrait and landscape 6x4 inch photos on the page.  I can see myself using a lot of these pages!

As I said in the journalling, I can't wait for the paving to be finally completed so we can all start being able to use our outdoor space again.  One of the hardest parts of the job has been not being able to use my clotheslines!
