JAI 760: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a colour combo for you, suggested to us by Tristan. 

I don't know about you, but my first thought when looking at it was Christmas, but I'm just not ready to make any Christmas cards just yet! It did bring to mind this retired set of dies, called Tree Lot Dies.

I decided to use the dies, along with the Hello Sweetums Mountains Of Fun Dies, to create a fun scene. I realised that I needed blue for a day time sky, but as it wasn't part of the colour challenge, I had to think a bit more.

I decided to use black so that I could add some Gold Foil stars and call it a night time scene! There's also Gold Foil on the caravan, but it was very difficult to photograph in the sun. The sentiment is from Beautiful World, cropped with a Tasteful Labels Die.

I cheated a little on the inside, and used some Balmy Blue ink to add to my scene. Black ink would have just looked weird!

CTC 312: CASE Your Favourite Retiring Dies

 Hi!

Happy Easter! Have you had a lovely day? I hope so! My teenagers slept in today, so we were able to do our egg hunt at a much more reasonable hour. Yes, even though they are 17, 15 and 13, they still want the chocolate! It's the only day of the year that I let them eat as much junk as they want. They used to go nuts, but they've finally worked out that they end up feeling sick, so they are a bit more cautious these days!

This week for our CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge, we are asking you to CASE a project made with your favourite retiring dies. There are so many of my favourites retiring this year, it was nearly like asking me to choose a favourite child! In the end I went for my World Map Dies. I got the because my husband is interested in maps, particularly antique maps, so this suite was a must have, and will stay in my permanent collection.

I found this little tag on page 26 to CASE, but I decided to turn it into a full size card.

Because this gave me more room to play with, I decided to add two globes to the front. I used the dies to crop the globes from some Brass Foil, and then used a left over piece of Foil to anchor the two globes to the card. 

The backing for the globes was made with watercolour paper. I used my Water Painter and some Misty Moonlight ink to colour the paper, making sure that the colour went on very unevenly.

I made a third globe in the same manner for the inside of my card. A pair of sentiments from A Good Man finished off the card nicely.

CTC #284: CASE The Die Bundle Section

Thanks for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are looking at the Die Bundle Section of the Annual Catalogue. I love this new section of the Catalogue, which shows the stamps and dies, and another sample for Inspiration.

After flicking through the section, I settled on this card, made using the World Of Good bundle. I softly chose it, as it's been a while since I've played with it.

I quite liked the stripes down the side of the card. I realised I haven't ever used the stripy die in the bundle, so I used it for the stripes instead. BTW - does anyone know what the die is meant to be? Some sort of ruler, maybe? I cropped two thin strips of Misty Moonlight cardstock using the die and then adhered some Brass Foil to the back so that it peeped through the stripes.

The centre section of the card was made to be an Easel Card, sort of like a Center Panel Easel Card. These are usually made to be landscape orientation, but I thought that portrait suited the globe a bit better.

The compass image is stamped on Whisper White, punched out and then layered on another circle of Brass Foil. I didn't want to pop it up, so that the card would sit better when closed, but it wasn't high enough to hold the easel open, so popped up it is!

I didn't specifically make this card as a Father's Day card, but looking at it now, it would be great to give to a dad on their special day. It would also work as a masculine thank you or thinking of you card.
