Farewell Two By Two

Hi!

This farewell is a bit of a sad one for me, as Two By Two is one of my all time favourite baby stamps.  I was cheered to realise though that it can be bought as a download for My Digital Studio, so in one sense it will never retire.  Yay!

Keeping with the theme, lol, I have also used more of the retiring Print Poetry DSP Stack paper on the card.  I kept the card fairly simple as I wanted the coloured panel to be the hero of the card.

In the past when I've coloured this image I've always used realistic colours.  This time I decided to make it look like a boat full of teddies so I used lots of bright colours. As the card was for a girl I kept it to a girlier palette.

Flags are really on trend right now, so I used a few scraps of DSP to create some flags on the inside.

Farewell Topsey Turvey Celebrations

Hi!

I thought I'd sneak in an extra farewell card before the new catalogue goes live on Tuesday. This card was made for a children's card class I taught this month.

I really love the sunburst on the top of the card - it's so pretty.  Ada ended up taking my first sample to give to her BFF for her birthday so I had to make another sample for the second class.

There's another farewelling product on this card - the Print Poetry DSP. I will miss this bright and cheerful DSP.

Thankfully Sassy Salutations is hanging around.  I really love that set!

JAI #171: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

The weeks are sneaking past so quickly!  The Winter Solstice occurred last week, which means we are on the downhill run to Summer.  Yay!

But let's not wish the year away too quickly, first it's time for a new Just Add Ink Challenge.  This week Mae has designed a fab sketch to use.

I flipped the sketch sideways for my card as I wanted to use some more bits of the Artisan Embellishments Kit that I have been hoarding using.  Papercrafters never hoard, do they?!? lol

The tags from the Kit are just gorgeous!  I used the Crumb Cake side on this card and popped the whole tag up using dimensionals.

The Primrose Petals Seam Binding Ribbon is also from the Artisan Embellishment Kit, which is retiring at the end of the month.

After cutting the Print Poetry DSP for the front of the card there were a few strips left over, so I used one of them on the inside of the card, and the other on the envelope.  A great way to use up those scraps!

I also had a scrap of the Seam Binding left that I couldn't bring myself to throw out so it got used on the inside too.

Farewell Print Poetry Stack

Hi!

Another farewell - this time to one of my favourite new products from Stampin' Up!, the smaller sized paper stacks. Perfect for cardmakers, the stacks are an ideal size for covering the fronts of cards with a few strips left over to decorate the inside with.

This card was a larger size - 5 inches square.  I used four different patterns from the masculine papers in the stack to cut the squares for the front of the card. 

The inside sentiment is from the Make A Wish Stamp Set from the current Seasonal Catalogue.  I was so excited to discover that it has carried over to the upcoming Annual Catalogue as it is one I have been using a lot lately.

Can't wait to see the new DSP stacks in the next Occasions Catalogue - I'll be waiting a while though as it's not until September!!

A Special Wedding Card

Hi!

Earlier this month Rob and I went to Canberra for a very special wedding. The bride, Annabelle, was a uni friend of mine and she was one of my bridesmaids when Rob and I got married.  In a lovely coincidence Annabelle and Aaron chose to marry on the same day that Rob and I wed 11 years ago.  Every time we drive into Canberra we drive past the church where we married, this time we decided to stop and take some photos to mark the occasion.

11 years before this photo was taken Rob and I were preparing to make our way to this church to pledge our lives to each other.

 

Anyway, on to the card I made for Annabelle and Aaron. I wanted something really special for them. I decided to go a bit vintage, as I know Annabelle is a fan of the vintage look.

 

Here's a closer look at the cluster on the front of the card.

The inside I kept fairly simple as I knew I would write a fair bit in the card.  I added a little Linen Thread bow near the bottom to help tie in with the front of the card.

JAI #162: Just Try A New technique

Hi!

 

It's another week at Just Add Ink, so another challenge for you. This week Delys has challenged us to try a new technique - one that you haven't tried before.  I decided to try the cracked glass technique.   You can find a tutorial for it here.

 

 

The technique basically involves many layers of clear embossing over a stamped image which is then cracked and has ink applied to seep into the cracks. I love the antiqued look it gives, like crazed porcelain.

 

I probably didn't do enough layers as it didn't quite crack the way I wanted it to, but I still think it looks pretty good!

This card was for my mum for her birthday. I hope she likes it!
