JAI #299: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Oh my! I just realised that Just Add Ink is only one challenge away from our 300th challenge! How exciting! But first we have our 299th challenge, which is a gorgeous Inspiration photo chosen by Jan.

Mmmmm, don't those drinks look amazingly yummy? They look like they'd be very refreshing on a hot summer day. My first thoughts when looking at the picture were vellum and a watercolour wash, so that's what I went with for my card.

I selected one of the UV Resist cards from the Memories In The Making Project Life Collection, which is a Sale-A-Bration choice. The little tear droppish shapes reminded me of watermelon pips, so I thought it worked well with the inspiration photo. I used Watermelon Wonder ink and an Aqua Painter to create the wash background.

This was the Valentine's card I made for Rob. He hadn't seen the inspiration photo, but when I gave it to him he said that it made him think of watermelon and Dr Who. I was pleased he said watermelon, but then my brain registered the Dr Who bit. Huh? He explained that the early TARDIS had a circular motif on the walls! I used the Large Polka Dot TIEF on my background. It's funny how these things work out!

I don't often make Valentine's cards, as it's not something Rob and I celebrate. I was pleased to note that Rob had it on his bedside table, so he obviously liked getting it!

What inspiration do you take from the photo? The Design Team had a lot of fun with it. You can see their work on the JAI Blog.  I hope you can share your card with us at Just Add Ink.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #271: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

Wow, three posts this week! Hopefully I can keep up the pace! Today's post is the new Just Add Ink Challenge, which is a fantastic sketch designed by Narelle.

I decided to break out my new Sprinkles of Life stamp set for this card.

I've teamed it with the new Cherry On Top DSP Stack.  The combination is fabulous for a cute kid's birthday card.

It's been a while since I used the Floral Frames Framelits, so I decided to dust them off for this card.  The whimsical shape is another great addition to a kid's card.

I love this sentiment for the inside, and it just calls for at least a double scoop on the cone.

What will you do with the sketch? I'll see you over at the Just Add Ink blog.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #227: Just Add Chipboard

Hi!

Oh boy, theses Fridays are really sneaking up on me!  Time for another Just Add Ink Challenge. This week Chantell has challenged us to add chipboard to our creations.  When I use chipboard it's typically for a mini album cover, not as a feature on a card, so I decided to try something new and use it as a feature.

If you're not sure what chipboard is, it's really just the heavier cardboard that is sometimes used in crafting.  I use the backing board from my Glimmer Paper packs to die cut shapes from.  In this case though I have used some thinner chipboard that I have cut using the new Party Pennants Bigz die.  I used the thinner stuff because I wanted to emboss it as well.  I used the new Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  Just be careful not to force the sandwich through your Big Shot - you don't want to ruin your machine!

I'm still loving the new Blendabilities and had lots of fun colouring the new Bundled Baby stamp set.

Another little cute baby for the inside to finish off the card.

I hope you can play along with us at Just Add Ink - I'm sure you've got some chipboard (or something similar) you can use in your stash!

Bye for now,

Tina
