JAI #313: Just Add A B

Hi!

Oh boy, am I glad it's Friday! I've had another week with a sick child - this time my 13 year old. He had Monday and Tuesday off school, but luckily he's pretty self sufficient and he's getting to old to want his mum fussing over him.

So, onwards to the real reason you're visiting my blog - the card making! This week at Just Add Ink it's my turn to set the challenge, and I'm challenging you to Just Add B. As usual with our Alphabet challenges, it can be anything to do with B. A stamp set, a colour, a theme, just let your imagination run wild.

I've had this image half coloured on my desk for a little while. Before you ask, no, it's not a Stampin' Up! stamp, and yes, I do feel a little bit naughty using something that's not ours. However, every person in our house is completely mad on Harry Potter, so it's one that just had to find it's way into my stash! I coloured the image with my Copic markers. I'm very new with colouring with Copics, so I'm on a big learning curve.

Everything else on my card is SU. I used the about to retire Squares Collection Framelits to cut the frame for the front of my card. You can see that I popped it up to give the image a bit more depth. If I'd been a bit cleverer (is that a word?) I would have turned the card into a shaker card by adding some Window Sheet and some of the new Foam Adhesive Strips. Oh well, maybe next time!

Because I'm just a tad stingy thrifty, I used the left over square from the front of the card to matt my inside sentiment. I quite like the red border!

So there you have it - a brown-haired boy in a blue bed reading books. Lots of B's for this week's challenge. You can see plenty of other B themed cards over at Just Add Ink. What B will you use?

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #310: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

Here we are, another Friday, which means another Just Add Ink challenge - are you ready?

This week it's my challenge, and I have a sketch for your inspiration. Take a peek at this:

What do you think? I decided to go off on a bit of a tangent and use a different shape for my card.

I also decided to turn it into an easel card. To get the octagonal shape I die cut a square using my Squares Collection Framelits. I then turned the framelit and ran it through the Big Shot again. Easy!

The flowers were stamped using the Petite Petals stamp set in Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Blackberry Bliss, which I stamped off first. Small pearls in the centre of each flower finish each flower off.

I used some of the new Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper on the front of my card. It's so pretty!

The Just Add Ink Design Team have done a fantastic job, as usual, with the sketch. You can see their cards on the Just Add Ink blog.

Bye for now,

Tina

Sheltering Tree

Hi!

Today's card was made using the photopolymer stamp set, Sheltering Tree.  My stamping ladies had asked for some inspiration using the set. I don't own it, so one of my ladies was kind enough to loan it to me. My first step was to use Google Images to search for a little inspiration myself.

I wanted to go for something CAS and when I saw this card and this card I decided to combine elements from both to create my card.  I cut a mask from a card front sized piece of copy paper using a square framelit and then laid it over the top of my card so I could sponge Soft Sky ink onto the card base through the mask. The tree and leaves were then stamped through the mask using Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron inks.

Finally, the mask was removed to stamp the sentiment. Done!

I stamped the tree the same way on the inside, minus the sponging.  It still looked a little bare so I added a row of flowers before stamping the sentiment above them.

Bye for now,

Tina

Gorgeous Grunge Frame Card

Hi!

Today's card was a 'reject' for a recent Just Add Ink challenge.  A few weeks ago we challenged you to add a frame to your creation.  This was the card I made first, but I decided the frame wasn't enough of a feature so I didn't submit it for the challenge.  I thought I'd show you anyway.

I was inspired to make my card after seeing this card by Andrea Walford.

You can see I was playing with the Polaroid style frame that I used on the card I submitted for the Just Add Ink challenge.  You can see my card here.

Stamps: Dictionary, Gorgeous Grunge, Sweet Essentials, Simply Stars, Express Yourself (Hostess)
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Squares Collection Framelits, Linen Thread, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #182: Just Add Frames

Hi!

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week.  It's Friday, the weekend is within reach, and it's time for another Just Add Ink Challenge.

This week Paula has challenged us to add a frame to our creation. You can interpret this any way you'd like.  You could add a frame to a card, or decorate a photo frame, what ever you can think of!

My first thought was to create a polaroid style frame as a focal point on my card. It works really well with the photo paper in the I Am Me DSP pack.

I used my new Squares Collection Framelits to cut the inner section of the frame - so much more precise and easier than trying to do it with my trimmer.

I used a little leftover strip of the DSP on the inside.

Stamps: Happy Day, Sassy Salutations
Ink: Pool Party
DSP/Cardstock: I Am Me DSP, Real Red, Pool Party, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Squares Collection Framelits, Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Full Heart Punch, Small Heart Punch, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

I hope you can play along with us this week at Just Add Ink.

Bye for now,

Tina
