Vintage Tea For Two

Hi!

I was asked to make a card on commission for a female 30th Birthday.  The brief I has was girly. The first thing that popped into my head was this layout I'd done for a Just Add Ink Scrapbooking Challenge earlier in the year. It was a girly layout that I'd loved making and so I was keen to see how it would translate to a card.

I think it worked pretty well!  I knew the card was going to be hand delivered so I was able to use some bulkier embellishments that I didn't have to worry about getting squished in the mail.

I loved the little torn section with the button and lace on my layout, so of course I had to carry it over to the card.

I wanted the inside to be as pretty as the outside, but with plenty of space for writing a message.

Of course I had to dress up the envelope too. I had a tiny scrap of the lace trim that I tucked in between the two ovals on the front.

On the back of the envelope I just covered the flap with some coordinating DSP.

Farewell Mocha Morning Specialty DSP

Hi!

Are you a user or a hoarder?  When you buy something pretty for your papercrafting, do you save it for a special occasion, or do you use it with abandon?  Sigh...I'm a bit of a hoarder, save it for a special occasion type of crafter.  Silly really, because I should be spreading the gorgeousness!  The card that has inspired this pondering was a commission for a friend.  She wanted a thank you card, but one that had a really positive message, for a friend that was helping them through a really tough situation.

I found the quote on the internet and printed it onto Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I used one of my new Apothecary Accents Framelits to cut around it.  The Vanilla looked a little stark, so I stamped over the top with the flourish from Creative Elements and Crumb Cake ink.  It didn't look quite finished, so I used my Crumb Cake marker to colour the areas of the flourish that weren't covered with text.  I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

I kept the inside quite simple so that she had plenty of room to write a heartfelt message to the recipient.  The Mocha Morning SDSP was perfect for this card.  I used a flocked piece to add to the luxury of the card.  I really should have made better use of this SDSP before it retires!

New Baby Card

Hi!

Today I have a card for you that uses a product that is being reconfigured: watercolour paper.  Stampin' Up! are discontinuing the smaller sized sheets and changing the pack to larger sized sheets.  The card I made was a commission from a friend.  She wanted me to use the All In The Family stamp set to represent the family on the front of the card.  The family consisted of mum, dad, 2 sisters, a cat and 2 dogs and the new baby girl.  Hmmmm.  I didn't fancy trying to stamp all that on the front of a card and make it look good.  After all, most people keep the cards as a keepsake.  So I put the thinking cap on and decided I'd make it look a bit like the Brady Bunch - you know the grid where they are all smiling and waving to each other from their own box?

I stamped each family member in Stazon ink on some watercolour paper and then coloured them with my ink pads and blender pen.  The sentiment panel is stamped on plain cardstock.  The base colours are Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride.  I can't remember the other colours I used on the people.

I have since been told that the recipient loves the card so much she is framing it for the baby's nursery.

A Special Card

Hi!

I was asked to make this card by a friend who was sending it to another friend.  She asked only for it to be 'something special'.  When I showed her what I'd come up with she was very happy.

Here's the card closed.  I've never made a card this shape, so it was fun to try a new idea!

Here is the inside of the card:

I used a mix of retired and new products on the card.  I love the retired Cottage Wall DSP and the matching (still current) Cottage Garden Stamp Set.  I also used the lovely new Organza ribbon to tie the card shut.

New In Colours

Hi!

Each year Stampin' Up! introduce a handful of brand new, trendy colours to complement their core colour range.  For the current catalogue and the future, the In Colours will be current for 2 years instead of 1 year, making them much better value!

Today's card was made using three of the new In Colours - Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush.  I have been asked to make some sample cards for a potential commission, and this was one of the cards I came up with.

The sentiment is not a stamp, I used Photoshop to play with the text and then printed it out onto Whisper White card stock.
