Colour Creations: Copper Clay

 Hi!

Welcome back to Copper Clay week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. I wasn't too keen on the coppery brown at first, but after playing with it, I think it's grown on me a little.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies

I kept my card nice and simple today. I cut a card front sized piece of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP and cropped it using my curved Basic Border Die. I made sure that I didn't cut off too much of that gorgeous big daisy at the bottom right.

Biggest Wish was the perfect choice for a sentiment for my card, cropped with a Stylish Shapes Die. I added a few Champagne Rhinestones before I realised that they have retired. They work well with Copper Clay though!

I never like to waste paper, so I used the offcut from the front of the card on the inside of my card. It's a great way to decorate the inside!

Thanks for stopping by, but please do keep going around out blog hop. There's so much more Copper Clay goodness to be seen. Next up is my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri.

Colour Creations: Polished Pink

 Hi!

It's Wednesday, which means that it's Colour Creations time! Woo hoo! This week we have Polished Pink, one of the outgoing In Colours. If it's a colour that you love - stock up now!

I quite like Polished Pink. It's a bright pink, but not too overpowering. I absolutely adore this combo by Brian King. Such a great idea to pair it with Blackberry Bliss and Crumb Cake. I chose my new Taco Fiesta stamp set to use for this week's card. Probably not what you'd expect with this colour combo - but I love the card I made!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Taco Fiesta, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies, In Colour DSP

When I buy a new stamp set, I often start by CASEing another card that I like that uses the set. In this instance, I CASEd a gorgeous card by Heidi Collins from On Y Go Stamping. Her card used different colours, but I kept the layout basically the same.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Taco Fiesta, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies, In Colour DSP

I stamped the piñata on Shimmery White cardstock with Crumb Cake ink, and then watercoloured the body with the same ink. I wanted a very soft effect. The rest was coloured with my Stampin' Blends to get the bolder, rich colours.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Taco Fiesta, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies, In Colour DSP

I used the hat on the inside of the card, but I'm a bit worried that it doesn't look much like a hat! Maybe I should have left it uncoloured, or stamped it in black. You may notice that I've split the sentiment over the front and inside of the card - I just masked off the section that I didn't want in each case. Easy!

The next stop in our Blog Hop tonight is the lovely Caroline Manwaring. We've missed her on the hops, so it's great to see her back.

As always, the wonderful Catherine Proctor keeps us all organised each week. Jump on over to her blog if you run into any issues with links - she'll have a full list of all of tonight's participants on her blog.

JAI 636: Just Add Your Favourite

 Hi!

Welcome back to another wonderful year of Just Add Ink challenges. As we do every year, we kick off the new challenges with a blog hop. Hopefully you've either started the hop here, or arrived from Tristan Dawes' blog. Either way, just keep on hopping until you get back to where you started.

For this challenge we are asking you to Just Add Your Favourite.... whatever you'd like! It could be your favourite colour, theme, stamp set - your imagination is the limit. I recently purchased a new stamp set that is based on one of my all-time favourite movies, The Sound of Music. It's from Scrappy Boy Stamps, and is called Climb Every Mountain.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Scrappy Boys Stamps, Climb Every Mountain, Pop Culture Card

I decided to recreate the iconic opening scene, and thought that a Bridge Fold Card would give my card the perfect dimension for the scene. I started by masking a horizon line and then stamping the mountains across the width of the card. These were ink using a blending brush and lots of masking. While the masks were in place, I also inked the sky using a template made from the cloud line die from the Basics Borders Dies. The trees are from Snowfront. The grass was also masked and inked. I splattered gold ink over the top, trying to get the look of flowers in the grass.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Scrappy Boys Stamps, Climb Every Mountain, Pop Culture Card

Maria was coloured using my Copic markers, as were the Edelweiss blooms.

The mountain part of the scene was recreated on the back of the card, where a message can be written to the recipient.

That's all from me and my favourite movie. Hmm, now I feel like watching it! While I go do that, please do keep going around our hop by jumping on over to Fiona Bradley's blog. I love her take on the favourite theme!

When you've finished hopping, get creating! You can link your card up for our challenge over on the Just Add Ink blog. So long, farewell!

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 401: CASE The SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Welcome back to the first CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop for 2023! We like to challenge you to use the wonderful resource that are the Stampin' Up! catalogues, by CASEing ideas from them.

This week, we are starting with the brand new Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. I started browsing at the back of the catalogue, and found this beauty on page 16.

I loved the way that the scene carried across the front of the card, even over the split in the DSP. I also loved the mix of sentiments on the card, and how they connected the two parts of the scene.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Boat Punch, Basic Borders Dies, Biggest Wish, Label Me Bold, Beautiful Moment

I wanted to use the boat punch on my card, and so I changed the orientation of my card. I was a bit worried that the boat would be a little lost on a landscape card.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Boat Punch, Basic Borders Dies, Biggest Wish, Label Me Bold, Beautiful Moment

The background sea, sky and sun are all masked and inked using Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue and Pacific Point ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I cropped the edges using my Basic Borders Dies, and the sentiments were from Biggest Wish and Label Me Bold (retired). The birds are from Beautiful Moment (retired).

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Boat Punch, Basic Borders Dies, Biggest Wish, Label Me Bold, Beautiful Moment

The little Daffodil Delight flags were so fiddly, but worth it, I think! I just punched a scrap of card with the mast part of the boat punch and used my snips to trim it to size. A tiny dot of Tombow glue holds it in place.

To play along with our challenge, you just need to join our Facebook group (if you aren't a member already) and add a photo to the group of your card for the challenge before our next blog hop starts next Sunday night. Easy! We'd love to see how the catalogues inspire you.

Please keep hopping and visit all of our blogs. There's lots of gorgeous SAB inspiration to be seen. The next stop is the lovely Julia Quinn, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous project,

CTC 353: CASE The SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

After a bit of a flick though the catalogue, I settled upon this daffodil card from page 5. I really loved the fancy border top and bottom and the layering in the card.

Apart from the Basic Borders Dies, I don't actually own any of the products used to create the catalogue card, so I had to think about suitable substitutes.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I thought that the Hand-Penned Petals set was a good substitute, although it works better on a landscape card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I used the Host DSP, Pattern Party on my card. The striped piece was coloured with Gorgeous Grape ink using a Blending Brush.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I used one of the DP offcuts on the inside of my card. After I'd glued it down I did think that I probably should have coloured it purple, too. Oh well!

Our challenge is run in our Facebook group. After you've finished hopping and you've made your card, jump on over to the group where you can upload a photo of your card. Get it in before next Sunday evening to be in the running. Can't wait to see what you make!

The next stop on our Blog Hop tonight is the lovely Julia Quinn. You certainly don't want to miss out on the gorgeousness to be found on her blog.

Colour Creations: Bumblebee

 Hi!

Welcome back to this week's Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Bumblebee's turn. Are you a fan of this mustardy-yellow? I am not! I much prefer a 'cleaner' yellow, so I really struggled with this week's card. In looking through the products I own that featured Bumblebee, I came across my What A Year Memories and More card pack, and an idea was born!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, What A Year Memories & More, Joy To The World Paper Pumpkin, Basic Borders Dies, Dainty Diamonds 3DEF

I loved the tile pattern on this card, and so it became the basis for my card. I started by cropping the curve in the bottom of the card using one of my Basic Borders Dies. I then matted the piece on some Bumblebee cardstock and cropped it again, so that I had a thin Bumblebee border all around the piece.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, What A Year Memories & More, Joy To The World Paper Pumpkin, Basic Borders Dies, Dainty Diamonds 3DEF

I couldn't resist using the retired Dainty Diamonds 3DEF on the Whisper White card - it is the perfect match with the M&M card! A few pops of black with the Matte Black Dots finished off the front nicely.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, What A Year Memories & More, Joy To The World Paper Pumpkin, Basic Borders Dies, Dainty Diamonds 3DEF

You can see that on the inside of my card I used the offcuts from the M&M card and the Bumblebee matt on the front. Not much gets wasted in my house!

Please continue your way around our Blog Hop, as there's plenty more inspiration to be seen. Next up is the AWH Team leader, Claire Daly.

If you find a broken link at any point in the Blog Hop, you can view the full list of participants on Catherine Proctor’s blog

Colour Creations: Blackberry Bliss

 Hi!

Welcome back to this week's Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are focussed on Blackberry Bliss. It's a gorgeous, deep purple that has a tendency to get messy. Many times I have come away from a stamping session with the colour, only to have Blackberry Bliss stained fingers! It's the only colour that it seems to happen with, though.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, Pierced Blooms Dies, Daisy Punches, Dandy Garden DSP, Basic Borders Dies

I had the idea to do some crisp, white daisies with a Blackberry Bliss background. The DSP is from the Dandy Garden pack. I knew I wanted to wrap the ribbon around the piece, so I adhered it to some Blackberry Bliss cardstock before cropping it with the scalloped Basic Borders Die. This just gives the card some strength to hold the ribbon in place.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, Pierced Blooms Dies, Daisy Punches, Dandy Garden DSP, Basic Borders Dies

The daisies are three layers each of Whisper White card, sponged with Blackberry ink in the middle, and with a centre of Basic Black card dotted with a white gel pen. The leaves are from the Pierced Blooms Dies, and the sentiment from Pretty Perennials.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Pretty Perennials, Pierced Blooms Dies, Daisy Punches, Dandy Garden DSP, Basic Borders Dies

All the same supplies and techniques were used on the inside of my card. I had planned to use the DSP offcut from the front, but it looked a little strange so I just trimmed the edge straight. Much better!

That's all from me for this week's Colour Creations, but please do continue your way around the Blog Hop. The next blog to visit is Theresa Gerrard's. Blogger has not been playing nice lately, so if you get an error message when you click though to Theresa's blog, just click on her 'Home' button, which should take you to her post.

Colour Creations: Soft Sea Foam

 Hi!

Welcome back for another week of the Colour Creations Creative Showcase. This week we are looking at Soft Sea Foam. As them name suggests, it's a very soft green from the Subtles colour family.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet Strawberry Bundle, Basic Borders Dies

I kept my colour palette quite pale, with just Soft Sea Foam and Whisper White. I used the Sweet Strawberry bundle for the focal panel of my card, but just the flower and leaves image. I stamped them in SSF and then used my Blending Brush to add some ink over the top. I then coloured the leaves with my Dark SSF Blend. The flowers were stamped and punched separately on Whisper White. The centre is a retired Metallic sequin.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet Strawberry Bundle, Basic Borders Dies

My card actually started with the zig zags! I cut a heap of edges using the Basic Borders Dies and then adhered the layers together to form the zig zags. Just a tip - make your pieces a little wider than you want your final piece to be. This gives you a little allowance to line up the zig zags precisely. Just trim the piece when you're finished.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Sweet Strawberry Bundle, Basic Borders Dies

Both themes were carried over to the inside of the card. You can't tell in the photo, but the flowers here have Wink Of Stella on their centres rather than the sequins.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do head on over to Cathy's blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Soft Sea Foam cards. We have one more week of our Core colours before we start on the new In Colours - that's going to be fun!

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Sahara Sand

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Colour Creations Creative Showcase. This week was a challenge for me, as we tackled Sahara Sand. At the start of this Colour Creations series, I decided that I was only going to use the focal colour, plus Basics colours. It's really hard to make a Sahara Sand card with only Black, White or Vanilla to go with it!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, A Good Man, Basic Borders Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Subtle 3DEF, Neutrals DSP

My idea started with a new set of dies that I received in my preorder this week - Basic Border Dies. It's a super versatile set of border dies with stitched features and a variety of shapes for adding borders to a piece of card or DSP. For my card, I chose a banner-like die, that cut the bottom edge of the Sahara Sand DSP.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, A Good Man, Basic Borders Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Subtle 3DEF, Neutrals DSP

I layered the DSP over a piece of Subtle-embossed Whisper White card. The main image was stamped and sponged while the Stitched Shapes circle die was still in place. This leaves a nice, crisp white edge around the outside.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, A Good Man, Basic Borders Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Subtle 3DEF, Neutrals DSP

I've left the inside sentiment free, as it means that it could be either a birthday card or a Father's Day card. I will stamp an appropriate sentiment when I use it. Can you see that I used the off-cut from the front at the bottom? The Basic Borders Dies give a stitched feature on both sides of the cut edge, so it was an easy task to add the off-cut to the inside.

It's time now to head on over to Cathy's blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Sahara Sand links. I'm curious to see if anyone else had a hard time like me!

Bye for now,

Tina
