Colour Creations: Tahitian Tide

Hi!

Welcome to the final blog hop in the 2023-24 Colour Creations series. I can't believe that, once again, we have hopped our way through all of the colours in the Stampin' Up! range. We are finishing with one of my favourites. -Tahitian Tide. It's a lovely, bright blue that is, sadly, about to retire. I haven't used it anywhere near enough!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies

Also retiring, and also not used anywhere near enough, is the On The Ocean stamps and dies. They will certainly remain as a permanent part of my stamp collection. As will Rays Of Light, another retiring stamp that I have used as my background on this card. I love the way it can be used to draw your eye to a specific part of a design.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies

I had fun making the waves for the card. I cropped a piece of Whisper White using the solid wave die, and then inked both of the parts with Tahitian Tide ink. I left the tops of the waves white to give the effect of the breaking waves. I also cropped some Tahitian Tide, backed with Adhesive Sheet, using the outline wave die. The three layers look fantastic together!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies

I stamped a similar scene on the inside of the card, instead of using die cuts like on the front. The set is so versatile to allow both! I believe that the stamps and dies are around half price in the Last Chance sale, so snap them up if you're keen!

The next stop on tonight's Blog Hop is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I can't wait to see what she's made.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Cathy Proctor for keeping us going with the blog hops. We'll be back next week with Peach Pie, one of the new In Colours, to kick off the new year of Colour Creations.  In the meantime, pop on over to her blog if you you run into any issues with the links on tonight's hop. Cathy will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Gorgeous Grape

 Hi!

Welcome to our short and sweet Colour Creations Blog Hop for Gorgeous Grape week! There's not many of us hopping this week, but there's still lots of gorgeousness to be seen!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Sending Smiles, Playing In The Rain, Rays Of Light

I had a couple of bunnies that I'd stamped from the Playing In The Rain stamp set floating around on my desk, so I decided to put them to work on my card today. I started by colouring the bunnies using my Watercolour Pencils.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Sending Smiles, Playing In The Rain, Rays Of Light

The background is my Rays Of Light stamp. I used a Blending Brush to ink up the stamp so that the edges weren't harsh. I then stamped the sentiment from Sending Smiles to frame the bunny. Isn't he joyous? He certainly does bring sunshine to brighten anyone's day.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Sending Smiles, Playing In The Rain, Rays Of Light

Silly me had already cleaned and packed up my Rays stamp, so for the inside of my card I coloured behind the bunny with my Blending Brush. It was a great way to use up the excess ink after using it on the stamp!

The nest stop on tonight's Blog Hop is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. She's bound to have something fabulous for you to see.

As ever, if you run into any issues with links, pop on over to the wonderful Cathy Proctor's blog. She'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

CTC 418: CASE The Annual Catalogue

Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Has it been cold where you live? We have certainly had a little taste of what winter has in store here in Adelaide! The upside? It's perfect crafting weather 😁

We have a new Annual Catalogue, so naturally we are asking you to CASE from it! You can choose whichever project you'd like to CASE. If you've been following me for a while, you'd know that I like to flip through the catalogue, starting at the back page. I got to page 159 before I found this awesome card.

I really loved the simplicity of the layout, that it uses one of my must-have suites, and the cool flames at the back of the shuttle. I don't own this bundle (yet), but the flames did make me think of my Legendary Ride bundle. Perfect!

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Legendary Ride Bundle, Rays Of Light

I started by creating my background. I stamped Rays Of Light onto Lost Lagoon cardstock using the matching ink. I am so loving that its back in the line-up. I cropped it with a Stitched Rectangle Die, but it wasn't quite as big as I'd like, so I added another layer of cardstock underneath.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Legendary Ride Bundle, Rays Of Light

My motorbike was created using Basic Black, Smokey Slate, Real Red and Silver Foil cardstocks, with a bit of Pumpkin Pie on the flame. I used Adhesive Sheets behind all of the small pieces (there are lots of them!), as it makes assembling the bike so much easier.

I stamped the large motorbike image on the inside. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this bundle!

To join in with our challenge, all you need to do is join our Facebook Group and add a photo of your project to the group. You don't need a blog or a fancy camera, we want to make it easy to play along.

Before you go, please continue your way around our Blog Hop. The next stop is my lovely friend, Judy May. I can't wait to see what she's made!

Colour Creations: Pumpkin Pie

 Hi!

Welcome back for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Pumpkin Pie week. I can't remember a time as an SU demo without Pumpkin Pie - so it's been around a long time!

Brian King teamed it up with Starry Sky and Daffodil Delight. This combo, along with my obsession with the On The Ocean bundle, made me think of a fiery sunset over the sea.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I started by stamping Rays Of Light onto Whisper White cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink and then inking over the top with Daffodil Delight ink. I left a little white halo around the sun, and then stamped some of the birds from On The Ocean over the top using Memento ink. I also inked the bottom of the cardstock with Starry Sky ink. It works beautifully as the far horizon.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I cropped the boat in black, as I wanted it to be like a silhouette against the blazing sun. The foreground ocean was stamped and fussy cut, and then popped up over the top of everything else.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used the inked up Rays Of Light stamp on the inside of my card too. I didn't reink the stamp after stamping the front, I just laid part of my card over the image and gently rubbed my fingers over the card to pick up the ink. The softer look was exactly what I wanted for the inside of my card.

That's all from me tonight, but please do continue your way around our Pumpkin Pie hop tonight. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, who will gave a gorgeous cards or two for you to see.

My wonderful friend, Cathy Proctor, keeps us all organised, and if you find yourself with a broken link, she can get you organised, too. Just Pop on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Night Of Navy

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at Night Of Navy, a deep blue from the Neutrals Colour Family.

Brian King has quite a few colour combos that feature Night Of Navy, so it was tricky to narrow the choices down to just one! I decided on this bright combo though, mostly because I haven't played much with Parakeet Party yet.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Butterfly Brilliance, Light The Candles Card Kit, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Brilliant Wings Dies

I started by stamping the Rays Of Light stamp in Parakeet Party on Whisper White card and then cropping it with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. I matted it on Night Of Navy cardstock before popping it all onto a retired Silver Foil card base.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Butterfly Brilliance, Light The Candles Card Kit, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Brilliant Wings Dies

I was struggling with how to add Poppy Parade to the card, so I decided to add the circles, cropped with the Stylish Shapes Dies, under the focal butterfly (from Butterfly Brilliance) and sentiment. A few red sequins adds to the spotty red theme!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Butterfly Brilliance, Light The Candles Card Kit, Rays Of Light, Stylish Shapes Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Brilliant Wings Dies

A second butterfly, stamped in Night Of Navy, was the obvious choice for the inside of my card. I used a sentiment from the Light The Candles Card Kit stamp set to go with it. I also used the same stamp set on the front of the card. Don't overlook kit stamp sets - they are sometimes the exact sentiment that you need!

That's all from me this time around, but please do keep jumping around our Blog Hop until you get back to where you started. The next blog belongs to my fabulous friend, Kate Morgan. You won't want to miss her card!

As ever, if you get off track or find a broken link, jump on over to the wonderful Catherine Proctor's blog. You'll find a list of all of tonight's participants there to help you on your way again.

Colour Creations: Fresh Freesia

 Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's Fresh Freesia week, one of the 2021-23 In Colours. It's a lovely, soft purple that I will miss once it retires in mid-2023.

I chose Brian King's combo that paired it with the other softer colours in the 2021-23 In Colour family - Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent. I had plans to make a floral card, but then I had the need to make a sympathy card and decided to turn the colours into a sunset scene.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Rays Of Light, Trees For Sale, Heal Your Heart (SAB), Sympathy Card

I started by working out where the sun part of the Rays Of Light stamp would go on my card and then used a Blending Brush to apply some Pale Papaya ink. Fresh Freesia was used for the rest of the sky, and Soft Succulent for the forest. I then spritzed water onto my Rays Of Light stamp and stamped the inked panel. The water lifts the colour, giving this gorgeous effect. I use my Stamparatus to do this, by laying the stamp on the bed of the platform and adhering my cardstock to the plate. I didn't want to get drips of water in the wrong place, and this was a good way to avoid it.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Rays Of Light, Trees For Sale, Heal Your Heart (SAB), Sympathy Card

The trees are from Trees For Sale. I stamped them on a strip of cardstock and then fussy cut the top edge. It was popped up over the main panel using Dimensionals. The back layer were stamped off, and the front were full strength Soft Succulent ink.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Rays Of Light, Trees For Sale, Heal Your Heart (SAB), Sympathy Card

Of course, my inside was stamped and inked to match.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do keep hopping around our blog hop tonight. The next stop along the way is Theresa Gerrard, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous card.

Catherine Proctor does a wonderful job of keeping us all organised each week, so jump on over to her blog is you run into any problems with links. She'll have a list of all participants on her blog.

CTC 379: Sale-A-Bration Catalogue

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Can you believe that it's the end of the week - and for me, the end of the school holidays - already?

This week we are returning to the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. You can CASE any project on any page. I found this fun card on page 4.

Rays Of Light was one of the very first stamp sets I purchased from the Annual Catalogue, so I'm always on the lookout for samples using it. I loved that each individual ray was cut out and applied to this card, so like a crazy woman, I decided to CASE it.

There's a LOT of rays! LOL. I stamped the image on two pieces of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. One was cropped with a Stitched Rectangles Die. I fussy cut each ray from the second piece of cardstock and layered it over the top. I adhered the inner part of the ray directly to the cardstock, and the end of the ray was popped up on Dimensionals. It gave a really cool effect to the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Nothing's Better Than, Days To Remember, Rays Of Light, Love You More Than Dies

Once I finished, I trimmed the edges and adhered the piece to a Gold Foil card. The Nothing's Better Than bundle was used to decorate the card. I cropped the word 'Cocktails' five times - four in Basic Black and one in Gold foil. I made sure I used Adhesive Sheet on the back so that I was able to adhere the layers together easily.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Nothing's Better Than, Days To Remember, Rays Of Light, Love You More Than Dies

I couldn't resist adding another cocktail to the inside. This card will be going to a niece, who is celebrating her 18th birthday later in the month.

We'd love for you to play along with us this week, and every week! All you need to do is make a suitable card, take a photo and add it to our Facebook group. Easy!

Please keep on hopping around our blog hop, as there is plenty more gorgeous Sale-A-Bration inspiration to be found, starting with the lovely Julia Quinn

JAI 608: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a colour combo for you, with the colours selected by Rochelle.

To me, it's a very retro vibe! Having said that, I decided to make a floral card even though this colour combo wouldn't usually evoke thoughts of flowers.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Beautiful Friendship, Rays Of Light, Sweet Sentiments Builder, Sweet Sentiments Dies

I recently rediscovered my retired Beautiful Friendship stamp set. I stamped the big roses in Pumpkin Pie, with Basic Gray centres. The leaves were also stamped in Basic Gray, but this time stamped off first. I'm hoping that they look like the silvery leaves that you sometimes get on plants!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Beautiful Friendship, Rays Of Light, Sweet Sentiments Builder, Sweet Sentiments Dies

The flowers were fussy cut and popped up over my background. I stamped the Rays Of Light stamp in stamped-off Crushed Curry ink. It was still too dark for my purposes, so I covered it with a layer of vellum to tone it down.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Uniquely Creative, Just Add Ink, Beautiful Friendship, Rays Of Light, Sweet Sentiments Builder, Sweet Sentiments Dies

The sentiments, both stamped and die cut, are from the Sweet Sentiment Builder stamps and Dies from Uniquely Creative. It's a great set that allows you to mix and match words and phrases to suit a variety of occasions.

That's all from me for tonight, but your job is just starting! Please jump on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You'll also find our Linky, where you can add your card to our challenge gallery.

CTC 373: CASE An Embossing Project

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Usually, I'd comment on how it's a great way to finish off the weekend, but as it's a long weekend here, there's an extra day to go. Woo hoo!

This week we are asking to to CASE an Embossing Project. It can be any type of embossing (wet, dry, paste) from either of the current catalogues. Flipping through the mini, I found this card to CASE. I think it's really eye catching, how the flowers radiate away from a central point.

You may not have even realised that it's an embossed card - I only worked it out because there is a pot of embossing powder and a heat gun in the photo! When I looked closer, I realised that the flowers are heat embossed using white powder on coloured cardstock. I took a slightly different approach because I wanted two colours, not a colour and white.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Rays Of Light, Under My Umbrella, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Wiggly Bugs Dies, Heat Embossing

I started by stamping my new Rays Of Light background stamp onto Whisper White cardstock using Versamark ink. I had an old pot of Pool Party Embossing Powder, so I used that to heat emboss my card. If you don't have coloured powder, you could stamp the image in Pool Party ink and use Clear powder over the top. I then used a Blending Brush to apply So Saffron ink to the embossed card. I added extra ink to the sun and the outer edges to give the sun a bit of a light halo.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Rays Of Light, Under My Umbrella, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Wiggly Bugs Dies, Heat Embossing

I thought that the cloud shapes were a great addition over the top of the sun rays. The smaller ones are from the retired Wiggly Bugs Dies, and the sentiment is from Under My Umbrella, which is also retired.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Rays Of Light, Under My Umbrella, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Wiggly Bugs Dies, Heat Embossing

I used the offcuts from the front of the card to finish off the inside of my card. It makes it look very fancy!

I hope that you find some time to craft over the Long Weekend. We'd love to see you enter our challenge. Just take a photo of your embossing card and upload it to our Facebook Group. It's that easy!

Please continue on your way around our Blog Hop. The next stop tonight is the lovely Monique Fielder. I wonder what she's got in store for you?

Bye for now,
