JAI 754: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Kim has suggested the we Just Choose Two to add to our card.

That's a tough choice! I'm not much of a flower person, so I decided to go for the other two options - a Die Cut and some Ribbon.

I had a dig through my dies and came across this Legendary Word die, by Sweet Stamp Shop. Perfect! And speaking of perfect, this stamp set, Legendary by Kindred Stamps, was a great choice to pair with it. I enjoyed colouring the young man with my Stampin' Blends.

Cam you see the sparkly ribbon laying underneath the die cut? The card is so CAS that I used it there to give the word a little touch of oomph. I also used my Blending Brush to add a little Balmy Blue ink under my legendary lad to give him a bit of a boost, too.

I couldn't use one legendary character without the other, so she's made an appearance on the inside.

We'd love to see which two you'll choose. You can see the rest of the Design Team cards, and add your card to the Linky over on the Just Add Ink blog.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI 662: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Just Add Ink challenge. It's such a great way to kick off the weekend! This week we have a Sketch Challenge for you, designed by Lou.

My card was a bit of an accident - I started making a card for my daughter's 18th birthday, and then realised that it fitted the sketch perfectly!

This style of card is called a Bay Window Card, as the front of it folds out to look like the shape of a bay window. Of course, you then cut a window into the front to reveal the inside of your card. My daughter recently purchased a very popular video game, and so I designed the card to look like a bit of a portal opening to the world in the game - hence the space paper and the game controller as the window.

Here's the card folded flat, to show you both how it fits the sketch, and that it can easily be sent in the post. Luckily I was just able to hand the card to Ada!

Here is the inside of the card, showing the main character of the game and the world that he is running around in, getting up to all kinds of adventures. I coloured him with my Watercolour Pencils to suit the look of the DSP better than Copics would.

And here's the back of the card, where I wrote my message to Ada. This character is one of the key characters in the game

There's lots of inspiration on how to use this sketch over on the Just Add Ink blog. The Design Team ave done a wonderful job with it. Now, we'd like to see what YOU will do with it! Just add your card to our Linky when you've made it.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #541: Just Add A Blended Background

 Hi!

Hooray for Friday - it's been a long week, and I'm glad that the weekend is nearly here! This week at Just Add Ink, Nikki has challenged us to add a Blended Background to our cards.

How do you do your blended backgrounds? Are you a brayer fan, or daubers, or brushes? I was a brayer girl all the way until I got my hands on a blending brush, and now that's what I use most of the time.

Instead of doing a plain background, I decided to do my blending through a stencil, just for fun. This stencil is Circle Burst by MFT. I started in the middle with Coastal Cabana ink, Bermuda Bay in the middle and Island Indigo around the outside of the burst. I then cropped it with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die, matted it with Island Indigo cardstock and popped it up over a Silver Foil card base.

The character is from a Kindred Stamps set, called Plumber Brothers. I coloured him with my Blends to coordinate with the background. The sentiment is from another Kindred set, called Legendary. It's such a fun sentiment for a gamer birthday card!

This card is going to my nephew, who celebrated his birthday over a week ago. Oops! Luckily, I have the perfect sentiment for that! It's from an Ink Road Stamps set, fittingly called Belated. Another character from Plumber Brothers finishes off the inside.

That's all from me for now, but please pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find lots of blended inspiration from the Design Team. We clearly had fun with this challenge, and I'm sure that you will too. Don't forget to link up your card when it's done!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #507: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

It's been a bit of a cold and wet week in Adelaide this week, so perfect weather for crafting! I had a play day on Wednesday, where I watched both Mamma Mia movies and crafted the day away. It's been a long time since I've been able to do that, so it was heavenly! One of the cards I made was for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Jackie has designed a fun, funky sketch for us to use.

I love the quirk of the angled line at the bottom. While it would be easy to just go straight across the card, the diagonal adds a touch of fun to a card.

Speaking of fun, I took the opportunity to play with a Stamp set that I recently purchased from Kindred Stamps, called Legendary. The gamers out there may think that this character looks familiar. I'm not very 'up' with him, but my kids and hubby know exactly who he looks like! I created a forrest background for him, as it suits his outfit and pointy ears. I used a mix of Waterfront and Snow Front to create the scene. Did you notice the cloud? I stamped it with some First White Shimmer Paint to give the wispy look of a cloud.

The character himself was coloured sing my Stampin' Blends. I used both my Ivory and Bronze Blends to colour his skin - Ivory for the bulk of the area, and then the Bronze to add shadows around his hairline or the edge of his clothing. It's a great trick when the Ivory on its own is too flat. The legendary die is from Sweet Stamp Shop and it just called Legendary Word. It's a match made in heaven with this stamp set!

I recreated much of the same scene, including the wispy cloud, on the inside of my card. The female character has made her home here. I had assumed that she was the main character, and should be on the front of the card, but Rob tells me that the male character is the main character, even though the game is named for her. Go figure!

That's all from me this week. Did you like my card with Jackie's fun sketch? You can see what the rest of the Design Team made with it over on the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also link up your card to enter our challenge. Can't wait to see what you make of the sketch!

Bye for now,

Tina
