Sense Of Time

Hi!

Once again I had some unexpected crafting time today as Rob took the kids out for the afternoon.  They were making the most of the last day of school holidays by going to see Despicable Me.

I decided to use the latest sketch at Unscripted Sketches for inspiration.

Tilted panels are a bit out of my comfort zone, but I gave it my best shot.  I decided to make a masculine card using some stamped images I've had sitting on my desk for a while.  I have a limited stash of DSP at the moment so I had to use some of my retired DSP for the card.  Here it is:

It's a little hard to see in the photo, but I sponged Chocolate Chip ink lightly over the Very Vanilla sections to give them a bit of an aged look.

Masculine Baroque Motifs

Hi!

Well, day 3 of the new routine and I hit a bit of a snag! After dropping the kids off I went to get the mail and found my copy of Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine had arrived. Very tempting! I was good though and resisted the urge to make a cup of tea and read the mag for a good hour. I got the beds made, the lounge room vacuumed and dinner into the slow cooker before I sat down with the mag.

Anyway, here's a card I made last night. The Art With Heart team forum run different challenges each month and I always try to enter each one. This one was for a sketch challenge designed by Genna Gifford. It took a bit of fiddling to get the layers right, but I was pleased with the end result.


I think I'll add a sentiment when I use this card, probably a Chit Chat Rub On.

Male Baroque Motifs Card

Hi!

Do you sometimes have a favourite stamp in a set and then forget about how great the others in the set are too? Baroque Motifs is a bit like that. Everyone seems to love the swirly stamp, but forget about the others. I know I do. Last night I decided to branch out and use one of the other stamps to create a masculine card. I used the current sketch at Card Patterns for my inspiration:

Then I was blog surfing this morning and saw some cards over at Stamping Down Under. Nicole had used the Pendant Notes for her cards and it suddenly twigged that the cut outs in the cards were the same as the stamp I had used. I'd never noticed before! I love the way Stampin' Up! make it so easy to coordinate!

Some More Scrapbooking

Hi!

Did you know that May is Scrapbooking Month? Maybe that's why I'm in a scrappin' mood lately! Today's layout is inspired by Stamp A Memory's latest challenge: to use a not so perfect photo.

I chose these photos of a recent family holiday. My brother in law works at a flour mill and often has to drive a massive tractor to load the train with flour. On the last night of our holiday we took the children up to the mill for a ride in the tractor. They thought it was the best part of the holiday!



The photos aren't great - they were taken at night, are a bit grainy or blurry, the light on the tractor is glaring and the kids have red eye in them. But they tell a story, and that to me is the whole point of scrapbooking. Otherwise they're just a whole bunch of photos slapped into an album.

Lion Punch Art

Hi!

Tuesday night at Swap Sisters we learn how to use our Stampin' Up! punches to make punch art. This week we learned how to make lions and pandas, and then challenged to use them on a card. My panda hasn't found a home on a card yet, but my lion has.
