Colour Creations: Shaded Spruce

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Shaded Spruce, a relative new-comer to the SU colour range. Hopefully it survives the upcoming colour refresh, as it's a green that I like.

I thought that this colour combo from Brian King was a little unusual, it's certainly not colours that I would think to put together. It screamed 'floral' to me, so that's what I did.

It's been a while since I've played with Hand-Penned Petals, so it was a good choice for my card. I layered the stamped and die cut image over a large Stylish Shapes circle.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Hand-Penned Petals Bundle, Simply Fabulous, Stitched Greenery Die, Stylish Shapes Dies

The Whisper White background was run through my Big Shot with my Stitched Greenery die. I think it works perfectly with the flowers. The sentiment is from Simply Fabulous, cropped with another Stylish Shapes die. I finished off the front with a few retired Iridescent Sequins.

I repeated a lot of the front elements on the inside of my card. It's just as easy to stamp two flowers as it is to stamp one, and it makes such a difference to the insides of cards.

Thanks again for joining me, but please continue your way around our blog hop tonight. The next stop in the hop is my lovely friend, Michele Taylor. I can't wait to see what she's made.

The extra-lovely Catherine Proctor is our wonderful host tonight, so if you run into any issues with links, just jump on over to her blog where she'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Pumpkin Pie

 Hi!

Welcome back for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Pumpkin Pie week. I can't remember a time as an SU demo without Pumpkin Pie - so it's been around a long time!

Brian King teamed it up with Starry Sky and Daffodil Delight. This combo, along with my obsession with the On The Ocean bundle, made me think of a fiery sunset over the sea.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I started by stamping Rays Of Light onto Whisper White cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink and then inking over the top with Daffodil Delight ink. I left a little white halo around the sun, and then stamped some of the birds from On The Ocean over the top using Memento ink. I also inked the bottom of the cardstock with Starry Sky ink. It works beautifully as the far horizon.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I cropped the boat in black, as I wanted it to be like a silhouette against the blazing sun. The foreground ocean was stamped and fussy cut, and then popped up over the top of everything else.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, On The Ocean Bundle, Rays Of Light, Hand Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used the inked up Rays Of Light stamp on the inside of my card too. I didn't reink the stamp after stamping the front, I just laid part of my card over the image and gently rubbed my fingers over the card to pick up the ink. The softer look was exactly what I wanted for the inside of my card.

That's all from me tonight, but please do continue your way around our Pumpkin Pie hop tonight. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, who will gave a gorgeous cards or two for you to see.

My wonderful friend, Cathy Proctor, keeps us all organised, and if you find yourself with a broken link, she can get you organised, too. Just Pop on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop

 Hi!

To celebrate World Card Making Day, I am participating in Kathryn's Blog Hop of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from All Around the World to share a card that I have made today (or recently). She has also challenged us to post it within a week to someone special, as we all forget sometimes to send cards that we make and they just sit in a box.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Little Town Life, Hand-Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies, Waves Of The Ocean DSP, Copics, Fancy Fold Card

I've slightly cheated with my card, in that the recipient already has it! I was asked to make a card for a lot of people to sign that was for the conductor of a development band. She unfortunately had to step down, and we wanted to acknowledge her hard work over the years. I don't like making oversized cards, so I try to look for cards that open up to allow for many people to sign. The closed card is 6 inches square.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Little Town Life, Hand-Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies, Waves Of The Ocean DSP, Copics, Fancy Fold Card

The design is based upon a tutorial I found on Lisa's Stamp Studio website for a Diagonal Explosion Card. Her original was 4 inches square, so I played around with the measurements to make it just that little bit bigger. The photo above shows it half way open.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Little Town Life, Hand-Penned Petals, Stylish Shapes Dies, Waves Of The Ocean DSP, Copics, Fancy Fold Card

And here it is, fully open. Lots of space for people to write on! I knew that the recipient was a fan of this singing bookworm and the house full of magical objects, so I was sure to include them on the card. I coloured them with my Copic markers.

It's time now to jump on over to the next hopper, Elizabeth Gross. We'd love for you to hop your way around all of the blogs tonight, so just keep on going until you get back to where you started.

Colour Creations: Garden Green

 Hi!

Hello, and welcome to a new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are celebrating Garden Green, a lovely mid-green from the Regals colour family.

Brian King has paired it with Sweet Sorbet and Pool Party. He also paired it with Real Red and Pool Party - two similar combos. My intention was to make a card using each combo, but I ran out of time this week. Sweet Sorbet is quite a red pink, so I think that the cards would have looked very similar.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Hand-Penned Petals, Peaceful Moments, Stitched Rectangle Dies

I decided to used Hand-Penned Petals, as it's been a while since I stamped with it. I started by stamping the Whisper White panel all over with the floral stamp in Garden Green. My inkpad clearly needs reinking, but I didn't mind the rustic look of the blotchy stamping.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Hand-Penned Petals, Peaceful Moments, Stitched Rectangle Dies

The focal image with stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and filled with the colours from the combo. Are you a fan of the 'not quite matching' look? I am! I think it's fun that the filler stamps don't exactly match the outlines. If your hands are a little shaky, or your eyesight isn't so good, or you're just not that great at lining up two-step stamps, it's a fabulous set to stamp with because it's meant to be wobbly!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Hand-Penned Petals, Peaceful Moments, Stitched Rectangle Dies

I used the same image to complete the inside of the card. The sentiments I've used are both from Peaceful Moments.

We'd love for you to visit all of the blogs in tonight's blog hop, and we'd love it even more if you were able to leave some comments. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri.

As she does so brilliantly every week, Catherine Proctor is keeping us all organised with the hop. If you get stuck with a broken link, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight' participants.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 358: CASE An Embossed Project

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for a new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. I missed out on playing last week, so it's good to be back!

This week we are asking you to CASE a project that uses embossing from any of the three current catalogues. It can be heat embossing or dry embossing - whatever takes your fancy!

I'm a bit of a lazy crafter, so dry embossing is my first choice. After perusing the Mini Catalogue, I settled on the above card from page 57. I really liked the striped background, and especially how it uses both DSP and embossed cardstock in the matching colours.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand-Penned Petals, Biggest Wish, Friendly Hello DSP SAB, Hive 3DEF, Beautiful Shapes Dies

I chose to use the SAB reward DSP, Friendly Hello, on my card. The colours are Pool Party, Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia, on a base of Misty Moonlight. The latter isn't from the DSP, but I thought it was a nice base to ground the design. The strips were embossed with the Hive 3DEF.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand-Penned Petals, Biggest Wish, Friendly Hello DSP SAB, Hive 3DEF, Beautiful Shapes Dies

Hand-Penned Petals and Biggest Wish were used on the front of the card, coloured with the same colours as the background strips. I cropped them with the Beautiful Shapes Dies.

If you've followed me for a while, you'd know that I try to use up my scraps. The inside of the card is the perfect opportunity to do so. The offcuts from the front of the card were used to decorate the inside.

That's all from me for tonight, but your part in this challenge is just beginning! We'd love for you to play along, which is as easy as making a card based on an embossing project in any of the current catalogues and then uploading a photo to our Facebook Group.

Your other job is to continue on with the blog hop! There's plenty of Crew inspiration to be found, so just keep on hopping until you complete the circle. You won't want to miss the awesomely fun card that Michelle Stradz has created!

Tina

CTC 353: CASE The SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

After a bit of a flick though the catalogue, I settled upon this daffodil card from page 5. I really loved the fancy border top and bottom and the layering in the card.

Apart from the Basic Borders Dies, I don't actually own any of the products used to create the catalogue card, so I had to think about suitable substitutes.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I thought that the Hand-Penned Petals set was a good substitute, although it works better on a landscape card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand Penned Petals bundle, Sweet Strawberry, Basic Borders Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Pattern Party DSP

I used the Host DSP, Pattern Party on my card. The striped piece was coloured with Gorgeous Grape ink using a Blending Brush.

I used one of the DP offcuts on the inside of my card. After I'd glued it down I did think that I probably should have coloured it purple, too. Oh well!

Our challenge is run in our Facebook group. After you've finished hopping and you've made your card, jump on over to the group where you can upload a photo of your card. Get it in before next Sunday evening to be in the running. Can't wait to see what you make!

The next stop on our Blog Hop tonight is the lovely Julia Quinn. You certainly don't want to miss out on the gorgeousness to be found on her blog.

Colour Creations: Daffodil Delight

 Hi!

Hello again! It's time yet again for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. Boy, are the weeks flying by fast, or what?? Anyway, this week we are looking at Daffodil Delight, which is my favourite yellow in the Sampin' Up! range. Such a bright, happy colour!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Plentiful Plants, Hand-Penned Petals, Layering Circles Dies, Stamparatus

Once again, I find myself very time poor, so it's another quick and easy card tonight! I started by cropping a circle from a piece of copy paper and using my Blending Brush to apply ink to the Whisper White card. I deliberately inked more around the edges of the circle and didn't ink the centre at all.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Plentiful Plants, Hand-Penned Petals, Layering Circles Dies, Stamparatus

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the pot plant images from Plentiful Plants so that I could stamp multiple times to get a darker image. The sentiment is from Hand-Penned Petals. A White Twine bow finished off the front of the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Plentiful Plants, Hand-Penned Petals, Layering Circles Dies, Stamparatus

I stamped the same pot plant images on the inside, but just stamped them once. A little more Daffodil Delight ink was brushed over the top. The image is a little darker than it appears in the photo, but not quite as dark as the front.

Next up is my wonderful friend, Ros Davidson. I love how she uses the Colour Coach to guide her choices each week. It's fun guessing which combo she'll use!

As always, the fabulous Catherine Proctor is keeping the Hoppers super organised. If you find a broken link, you can jump back to her blog to pick up your trail - just remember who's blog should come next on the Hop.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 332: CASE Your Favourite AC Suite

 Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. As the name suggests, we are all about CASEing the Catty, and challenge you to join us!

This week we are asking you to CASE a project that uses your favourite Suite of products from the Annual Catalogue. You'll find a list of all of the Suites, and their catalogue page number, on page 3 of the catalogue. I decided to use products from the Hand-Penned Suite, but I chose to CASE the card from the Suite that is in the Bundles Section of the catalogue, on page 159.

I really loved the colours in this card, and the mix of stamped images and die cuts.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand-Penned Petals, Blossoms In Bloom, Pattern Party DSP, Penned Flowers Dies, Stampin' Blends

As you can see, I changed very little about the card. I coloured my main image with Stampin' Blends, rather than watercolouring, as in the sample. I had another time-poor week, and even waiting for the watercolouring to dry would have taken too long!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand-Penned Petals, Blossoms In Bloom, Pattern Party DSP, Penned Flowers Dies, Stampin' Blends

I also really liked the way the original artist drew over the lines in the Pattern Party DSP with her Dark So Saffron Stampin' Blend. I did the same.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Hand-Penned Petals, Blossoms In Bloom, Pattern Party DSP, Penned Flowers Dies, Stampin' Blends

I had a few extra die cuts, and a scrap of the DSP left, so they came in handy for decorating the inside of my card. I didn't want to make a congrats card, so I used sentiments from Blossoms In Bloom to make it a birthday card instead.

We'd love for you to join us in our challenge to CASE our favourite AC Suite. What's your's? You don't need to own everything from the suite to join in - just adapt your card to suit what you have! When you've made your card, just add it to our Facebook group.

Next on our Blog Hop tonight is my birthday twin (and fellow South Aussie), Michelle! It's our special day today, and we were lucky enough to have a warm, sunny, 'summer is on the way' day to celebrate.

Bye for now,

Tina
