JAI 727: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week it's one of my favourite types of challenges - a Sketch challenge!

There's a lot of scope to play with this one! I went digging through my pop culture stamps and decided to use a bunch of stamps that haven't seen daylight for a while.

I started with the two characters from Kindred Stamps Science Geeks stamp set. I coloured them with Copics. It's been a while since I really played with Copics - I must get back into it again! The sentiment is from the same set.

I popped them up over a Silver Foil die cut. It's from Uniquely Creative, and is called Orbital Dies. The DSP is from the Full Of Life pack.

I had a tiny little slither of DSP left from the front of the card, so instead of tossing it, I decided to use it under this catch phrase sentiment. It fit so nicely! The stamp is from The Ink Road's Bazinga stamp set.

This was such a fun card to make. I hope that you have fun making your card for the challenge, too. We'd love to see what you make. You can pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll see what the rest of the Design Team made for the challenge. You can also link your card via Linky.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #502: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

It's Friday again, which means it's nearly the weekend, but first it's time for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This time it's a sketch designed by me!

I must have designed it a while ago, as I didn't remember it at all! I really like it though, there's lots of fun stuff you could do with it. I actually flipped the sketch and then pushed the layers off-center, as it suited my plan better.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Game On, Minecraft, Stitched Rectangle Dies

My oldest child, Alex, turned 17 this month. He had a quiet birthday while sheltering at home, but I made up for it by ordering him an Oreo cake from the Cheesecake Shop. We also toasted some marshmallows around our fire pit, so overall he enjoyed his birthday.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Game On, Minecraft, Stitched Rectangle Dies

Today's card is an attempt to replicate one of his favourite games, Minecraft. To make the background, I just cut a heap of 1/2 inch squares from brown, grey and green cardstock. I then arranged them on a piece of Smokey Slate cardstock using Tombow glue. The stamps are from an Ink Road Stamps set called Game On. I stamped them in Call Me Clover, to match the vibrant green of Minecraft.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Game On, Minecraft, Stitched Rectangle Dies

I had some left over squares, so they were perfect for the inside of the card. According to Alex, the sentiment on the inside belongs to a sneaky character called a Creeper, that sneaks up on you and explodes! They are hard to see, so all you usually get as warning is the sssss before the boom! Have you learnt something - I certainly did!

That's it from me today - I'm off to practice the Last Post so that I can play it on my driveway tomorrow morning for Anzac Day. Hopefully I don't mess it up too badly! While I'm practicing, why don't you pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can see the rest of this week's Design team cards? You can also link up your own for the challenge. I can't wait to see what you do with my sketch.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #498: Just Add E

Hi!

Hello, and good to see you here for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week it's one of my alphabet challenges, and it's the letter E. What does that mean? It means you create your card using *anything* that starts with E. It could be a technique, a stamp set, a theme, a colour  - your imagination is the limit!

Now, with Easter just a couple of weeks away, that would be an obvious theme for this challenge - but I don't like doing the obvious! After a bit of a think, I remembered two stamp sets I'd purchased recently but had yet to use.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Classic Love, Subway Art: Love, Copics

How fun is that background? It's from Ink Road Stamps, and is chock full of different movie quotes to do with love. It's called Subway Art: Love. The quote I was after is actually closer to the top, so I chopped up and rearranged the stamped image to bring the quote to the bottom. I stamped the whole image in Balmy Blue using my Stamparatus and then I just inked up the key quote in Night Of Navy and stamped again. Easy!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Classic Love, Subway Art: Love, Copics

The quote might give you a big clue as to who the character is - her name starts with E. I know she's not actually the one to say that quote, but it was said to her, and I needed her on the front, so close enough for me! I stamped her using a Kindred Stamps set called Classic Love.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, Ink Road Stamps, Just Add Ink, Classic Love, Subway Art: Love, Copics

You can't have her without him, so he's on the inside! I hoped you've worked out the story - it's one of my favourite classics.

That's all from me this week. Are you madly thinking about what 'E' element you can add to your card? I hope so! I'd love to see what you make. You can link up to the challenge on the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also see the rest of the Design Team cards.

JAI #495: Just Add A Rainbow

Hi!

Welcome back to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Rochelle has challenged us to add a rainbow to our projects. It can be a rainbow itself, or a rainbow of colour, perhaps even a quote about a rainbow - it's up to you!

I recently purchased a couple of stamp sets that celebrate diversity in sexuality, so I decided that this challenge would be the perfect time for them to get inky! Good timing too, as it was Mardi Gras weekend in Sydney recently.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road, Full Of Pride, Love Wins, Stampin' Blends, Copics, Rectangle Stitched Dies

I started with my background rainbow. I cut 7/8" strips of Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Call Me Clover, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape cardstock. I adhered them to a piece of copy paper and then cropped them using my largest Stitched Rectangle die. I then adhered them to a piece of Thick Whisper White cut slightly smaller to give the piece more stability. This whole panel was then popped up onto a Thick Whisper White card base.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road, Full Of Pride, Love Wins, Stampin' Blends, Copics, Rectangle Stitched Dies

The main image was stamped using the heart from The Ink Road stamp set Love Wins, with the sentiment from the Kindred Stamps set Full Of Pride. I coloured the heart with my Stampin' Blends, and a set of Copics, as there's no bright blue Blends: Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Call Me Clover, Copics B28 and B24, Highland Heather.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road, Full Of Pride, Love Wins, Stampin' Blends, Copics, Rectangle Stitched Dies

I had a few scraps of the front cardstock colours on my desk, and so I punched a row of hearts for the inside. They just fit nicely! The sentiment is from the The Ink Road stamp set called Love Wins. I'm not sure who I will give this card to. It just made me happy to make it, and I hope that eventually it will make someone happy to receive it!

That's all from me this week, now it's time to pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can find the rest of this week's Design team Rainbow cards. You can also link up your rainbow card. I can't wait to see how you interpret this theme!

Tina

JAI #488: Celebrating 10 Years!

Hi!

Welcome back to a new year of Just Add Ink challenges! This year is our 10th Birthday year, and so in our annual first challenge of the year Blog Hop, the theme is Celebrate! I have been a part of the team for nearly 8 years - February 4th marks my 8th Anniversary. I started on the Scrapbooking Team, but played along with the main Design Team when I could, and then just the Design Team when we stopped the scrapping challenges. It's such a fun Design Team, the years have flown by!

My family and I spent New Year's Eve at a friends house. It was a lovely evening of just food and chatting - a BBQ and gathering around the table while the kids played pool and swam. Perfect! I wanted to make the hosts a card to say thanks for having us celebrate the new year with them.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Mama Elephant, Uniquely Creative, Ink Road Stamps, Cityscape, Sweet Sentiments Dies, Pitch Please, Rectangle Stitched Dies

This card was take two on my attempts to use hot foiling techniques on a card. I found an image of some fireworks online and printed it onto Night Of Navy cardstock using my laser printer. I then sat a layer of gold foil over the top and ran it through my laminator in a paper sleeve. It worked a bit better than last time, but still not perfect. I'll just have to keep trying!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Mama Elephant, Uniquely Creative, Ink Road Stamps, Cityscape, Sweet Sentiments Dies, Pitch Please, Rectangle Stitched Dies

The buildings are a Mama Elephant die called Cityscape. I cut three each of Basic Grey and Smoky Slate. I used the left over foil from the fireworks to back the windows on one of each colour die cut, and then stacked them with the other two die cuts. They were then popped up on Dimensionals.  The 'Thanks' is a Uniquely Creative die that I cut from Gold Foil card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Mama Elephant, Uniquely Creative, Ink Road Stamps, Cityscape, Sweet Sentiments Dies, Pitch Please, Rectangle Stitched Dies

I used the same die to finish the inside. The sentiment comes from an Ink Road Stamps set called Pitch, Please.

Now for some good news: we want to celebrate with you! We are doing this by giving away some gifts. The Top Pick and Honourable Mentions will each receive a gift, but so will some of our other entrants! To qualify for one of the random gifts you must live in either Australia or New Zealand, enter the challenge (duh!), but you must also comment on all 14 blogs in the Blog Hop. Too easy!

That's it from me, now you're off to see what the fabulous Denita has created. Don't forget to comment to be in the running for a gift!

JAI #467: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Lou has designed a fantastic sketch for us to use. I love a good sketch challenge!

I had a hankering to pull out some of my pop culture stamps to have a play with this sketch. After a flick through, I settled on two stamp sets that coordinate perfectly that are from two of my favourite pop culture companies, Kindred Stamps and The Ink Road Stamps.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

Do you recognise the character? He spent a lot of time sipping coffee in New York with his 5 friends. The sentiment, 'how you doin'?' was a pretty iconic pick up line of his! The character is from "The One With The Friend' from Kindred, and the couch and sentiment are from "The One With All The Stamps" from The Ink Road.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

I coloured the character and the couch with my Copic markers. I've been playing around a bit with darker shadow lines, and this was a great opportunity to try them out again.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up!, Kindred Stamps, The Ink Road Stamps, The One With All The Stamps, The One With The Friend

The inside sentiment is also from Kindred. It's a play on the episode titles of the TV show - every single episode name started with "The One Where...", which is also why both the stamp sets have similar names! It's one of my favourite TV shows that I watched every week when it was on TV. I have the boxed set so that I can watch it all again, I just lack the time! Oh well, one day 😊

That's it from me, not it's time to hop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can see the rest of this week's Design team cards. You can also link up your card and play along in our challenge. If you don't have a blog you can always email us your card and we can link it up for you.

Happy Birthday Ada!

Hi!

Last week my daughter had a birthday, turning 14. Ada's a mad Harry Potter fan, and so I usually make her a Harry Potter themed card. She's been talking lately about getting a Dark Mark tattoo when she's old enough (gulp!), so I decided to go with that theme for her card. For those not in the know, the Dark Mark is a magical tattoo on the 'baddies' (Death Eater's) arm that they use to summon each other.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Expecto Stampo, Labeler Alphabet, Incredible Like You, Scan And Cut

The Dark Mark is a skull with a snake coming out of the mouth. I certainly don't have any stamps for that! In the end I purchased a cut file from an Etsy store and cut it from some Shaded Spruce cardstock.  The Basic Black cardstock was a little to stark, so after I adhered the Dark Mark I misted it with some old Smooch shimmer mist that I found on my desk.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Expecto Stampo, Labeler Alphabet, Incredible Like You, Scan And Cut

I can't take credit for the sentiment on the card. -I googled 'Death Eater Birthday Cards' and found one that I liked. Avada Kedavdra is an Unforgivable Curse that kills the person it's aimed at, hence the second part of the sentiment!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Expecto Stampo, Labeler Alphabet, Incredible Like You, Scan And Cut

The inside sentiment is from an Ink Road Stamp set called Expecto Stampo. Incendio is another spell to light a fire, so it's perfect for the birthday candles. These were just stamped using the retired Incredible Like You stamp set. Did you notice I stamped 14 candles?

In case you were wondering, Ada loved the card!

Jai #442: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

It's time for the new Just Add Ink challenge! This week Kim has designed a sketch to kick of our creativity!

I really love this sketch, and the Design Team have done some fabulous things with it, so clearly they love it too! What comes to your mind when you see it? The elegant curls to the side made me think of a wedding card, so that's what I decided to make.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Just Add Ink, As You Wish, Beautiful Bouquet, Petal Promenade DSP, Well Written Framelits, Subtle 3DTIEF, Stitched Shapes Framelits

I wanted to go really subtle with the curls, so I cut them from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, which is the same as the layer underneath, which was embossed with the Subtle 3DTIEF. The little flourishes were from the new Well Written Framelits dies. Aren't they pretty? I wanted to add a little splash of colour, so I used some of the Petal Promenade DSP on the card. The gorgeous rose paper is perfect for a wedding card, as it looks just like a bouquet of roses.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Just Add Ink, As You Wish, Beautiful Bouquet, Petal Promenade DSP, Well Written Framelits, Subtle 3DTIEF, Stitched Shapes Framelits

How much fun I this stamp set? It's a new purchase from Ink Road Stamps, and it's called 'As You Wish' and is full of quotes and fun images inspired by the movie The Princess Bride. In case you're not familiar, the priest doing the wedding ceremony in the movie has a speech impediment and can't pronounce the letter r. Now I just need to find a bride and groom who love the movie so I can give them this card!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Just Add Ink, As You Wish, Beautiful Bouquet, Petal Promenade DSP, Well Written Framelits, Subtle 3DTIEF, Stitched Shapes Framelits

On the inside I used one of my favourite sets for sentiments - Beautiful Bouquet. There wasn't another quote in the As You Wish set that would work on the inside, so I thought a simple congratulations would be best. Oh, and more of that gorgeous DSP!

The Just Add Ink team have had a lot of fun with this week's sketch. You can see all the cards, and then link up your own over at the blog. See you there!

JAI #422: Just Choose Two

Hi!

Time for the new Just Add Ink challenge! This week Rochelle has set the challenge to Just Choose Two.

It's an embossing week! Powder, Folder or Paste - which two will you choose? I went with the Folder and Paste combo.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Kindred Stamps, Pitch Please, Building Blocks, Stitched Shapes, Subtle DTIEF, Embossing Paste

I made this card for Ada to give to her school Performing Arts teacher. A few weeks ago she organised a day of concerts to show off all that the kids have been learning with her. It was amazing day and a half of rehearsals and three performances, and the teacher did such a wonderful job of organising. The rapport she has with the kids is an incredible thing to see - they all adore her. I wanted to make the card as special as she is, so I went all out.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Kindred Stamps, Pitch Please, Building Blocks, Stitched Shapes, Subtle DTIEF, Embossing Paste

I used a retired SU mask to add some Shimmer Embossing Paste to the card. When it dried, I sponged Berry Burst and Powder Pink ink over the top. It makes me think of a tulle tutu - can you see it?

The stamps I used are from The Ink Road set called Pitch, Please. Can you tell which series of movies it's themed on? LOL - the perfect set for this card! Before I move on, I'll point out that I used the Subtle Embossing Folder on the Berry Burst layer  - it's just hard to photograph!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Kindred Stamps, Pitch Please, Building Blocks, Stitched Shapes, Subtle DTIEF, Embossing Paste

The stamps on the inside are from a Kindred Stamps set called Building Blocks. If you think of a movie from a few years back that had a very catchy song with the word 'awesome' featuring heavily, you will work out the theme of the stamp set. LOL.

That's it from me for this week. You can, as usual, see the rest of the team's cards and link up your own acrd over at the Just Add Ink blog. See you there!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #409: Just Add Eclipse Technique

Hi!

Hooray for Friday! Are you as excited as I am? The Royal Wedding is in less than 48 hours!

Let's pass the time waiting by checking out the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Rachael has challenged us to add the Eclipse Technique to our cards.

The Eclipse technique has been taking the paper crafting world by storm - it's so popular lately! Never heard of it? You basically die cut over the top of a stamped image. Easy!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Simon Says Stamp, The One With All The Stamps, Lovely Words, Stitched Shapes, Double Stitched Rectangles

I just can't resist a lot of pop culture stuff, and when I found these Friends stamps by The Ink Road, they found their way into my shopping cart and in the post to my house. The set is called 'The One With All The Stamps', how cool is that? They are a whole lot of individual stamps that I used to make one big background. I placed the cardstock in my Stamparatus then laid the stamps all over and played until I was happy with the placement. I then used the Stamparatus plate to pick them all up, inked them and stamped all in one go.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Simon Says Stamp, The One With All The Stamps, Lovely Words, Stitched Shapes, Double Stitched Rectangles

To create the Eclipse effect, I die cut the 'friend' (what else?? LOL) from Lovely Words and then cut around the oval using a Stitched Shapes oval. This piece was then popped up using Mini Dimensionals. Can you see your favourite Friends quote on the front? How you doin'?, or Oh My God! would have to be some of the classics, and they are both on there.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, The Ink Road, Simon Says Stamp, The One With All The Stamps, Lovely Words, Stitched Shapes, Double Stitched Rectangles

I kept my two favourite stamps for the inside. I always longed to catch up with friends and drink a cuppa on that lounge. What about you?

I may have also purchased Pitch, Please from The Ink Road, so keep an eye out for that set in the future!

Now, we are just that little bit closer to watching the wedding of the year, but there's still plenty of time to pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog to check out the rest of the Design Team's cards. Will you craft while you watch the wedding? I will be sipping tea and eating scones with some of my friends. Can't wait!

Bye for now,

Tina
