Some Mother's Day Cards

Hi!

I hope all the mum's out in blogland had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday.  I had a fabulous day with my family.  My children and husband showered me with some handmade gifts and a couple of books followed by pancakes for breakfast and a yummy lunch at a local hotel.  I didn't need to eat tea that night!  I had a lovely day and felt very loved and appreciated all day.  I hope you did too!

So I was going through my 'To Blog' folder on my computer and noticed two Mother's Day cards I'd made with my support group that I hadn't shown you.  I go to this support group most Mondays.  It's for parents of children with special needs and I love going.  I have made and strengthened many friendships in the group as we all have a common bond.  Twice a term I teach cardmaking or scrapbooking to the group.  Last term the group wanted to make Mother's Day cards, so this is what we made.

This card was a CASE, but I can't find the original link now - I made it so long ago!  If you know where I should credit the design, please let me know!  I love the monochromatic look of this card.

Some nice and simple stamping for the inside.

I can't remember if this is a CASE or not! I used some of the lovely but retired Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP on the card.

Some more hearts on the inside.  Mum's love to be loved!

Another Sweet and Sour Birthday Card

Hi!

Today's card is a different version of the card I posted on Sunday.  The previous card was for a little girl's birthday, but this one was for a woman's card.  I like that I can use essentially the same design and DSP but make cards for two different ages.

It's a little difficult to see in this photo, but the plain layers of the cake and the flames on the candles all have glitter applied to them for a touch of bling.  I used my two way glue pens and just sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds over the top.

Sweet and Sour Birthday Card

Hi!

The Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP was one of my absolute favourites this year.  I love the colours and the textures in the glossy designs were just gorgeous.  Today's card uses the paper.  I love it for little girl cards, especially the bubbly, polka dot design.  If you want some of this gorgeous paper get in quick as it's on the retirement list and only available until stocks run out or August 31st.

This was a pretty simple design which came together really quickly.  I also have a slightly different version of this card, which I'll show you in a couple of days.

Sweet and Sour Flower

I made this card because I wanted to try out a new flower making technique.  Well, it's not really a new technique, just new to me.

I bought a Flower Loom from Spotlight in the hope that I could use it to make flowers for my papercrafting.  Wool flowers didn't really work as they were too floppy.  I used some sliver cord for this flower and I was pretty happy about how it turned out.  The flower held it's shape nicely however it was quite bulky.

I added a large clear rhinestone brad to the centre of the flower for a little extra interest.

Just Add Ink #59 and Exciting News!

I have some exciting news today - I have been asked to be a Guest Designer on Just Add Ink!  I'm so excited!  I can't wait to see what they have in store for me.  Thanks so much to Delys and Bron and the rest of the JAI team for the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a fantastic team.

Today's card is for their current challenge, which is a sketch challenge.  You can see the sketch here.

I love all the soft pinks in this card.  I used the Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP as the main base for the card, and went with the coordinating colours for the rest of the card.

To create the main panel I stamped the All A Flutter butterfly twice in Rose Red, masked it and then stamped En Francais over the top in Pretty In Pink ink.

I was about to assemble the pieces of the card when I took another look at the sketch.  I had forgotten a layer, so I decided to add the scalloped section.

To create the larger scallops I punched a 1 1/4" circle and traced it on the cardstock.  I then cut along the lines and sponged the edges for a bit of pop.

Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

Welcome to another inspirational blog hop.  Some very talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators have put together a bunch of wonderful projects to inspire you to stamp, stamp, stamp! (As if you needed an excuse!)  There are 11 beautiful projects for you to feast your eyes on as you hop your way around the circle.  Di Dunk owns the blog before mine in the hop - her creations are always amazing!

My project uses a stamp from the Punch Bunch set.  Totally loving the way every image matches a punch as it makes cutting out a breeze!  Anyway, here's my creation.

I decided to go 3D for this hop so I made a cute little purse using the For You stamp as a tag on the front.  Isn't the Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP wonderful?  It is a heavier weight than our regular DSP so it is perfect for 3D projects, and the gloss on some of the patterns is gorgeous.

I also decided to make a little set of 5 cards to match the purse.  They all use the same stamp and DSP and are sized at 3 1/2" square to fit inside the purse.  I also made envelopes but forgot to photograph them.  Oops!

Here's a closer look at one of the cards.  A simple design - I just stamped the image in Pumpkin Pie and again in Rose Red and then punched them with the Scallop Circle or 1 1/4" Circle punches to give a two colour image. A dimensional between the two layers for a bit of pop, a piece of ribbon and it's done! The tag on the purse was made the same way.

Punch Potpourri Butterfly

Today's card is a birthday card for a niece.  The Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP was already out on my craft desk, so I decided to use it on the card.  Lots of layering on this one!

Here's a closer look at the butterfly.  I used three layers all held together with a rhinestone brad.  The top layer is a stamped butterfly from the Punch Potpourri Hostess set, the second is more of the DSP and the bottom layer is Rose Red cardstock.  I drew some flight lines on the card freehand.

I needed a pocket for a gift card so I used more of the DSP.  It is adhered to the inside of the front of the card.

Finally, the inside of the card.  I have been trying to make sure I do the insides of my cards as well as the front.  Mostly I just stamp a coordinating image on the inside, as I have done here.  it doesn't take long to do and really adds to the card.

Fox and Friends Christening Card

Hi!

Another custom order today.  This one was to be for a christening for a little girl.  I decided to use Fox and Friends in some lovely girly colours.  I took inspiration from the colours in the Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP.

 I cut out the giraffe and raised it on dimensionals to add a bit of interest to the front of the card.  The circle with the sentiment 'baby' is also raised.
