CTC #266 Week 1: Easter Cards

Hi!

Hello, and welcome back! I hope you're all coping well with the new social restrictions. It might be difficult but it's so important! My household is bunkered down, and so far so good! But anyway, on with the reason why you're here - the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop! We are starting a new challenge this fortnight, just in time for Easter!

All you need to do is create an Easter project using our sketch to guide you! Easy!

I don't usually make Easter cards, so I actually found this one a little difficult!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Flowering Foils SDSP, So Very Vellum SDSP, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Country Floral 3DEF, Well Scripted, Stampin' Blends

I started by colouring the flowers from Flowering Foils. I'd fussy cut them a couple of weeks ago, which was very handy! I used Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink and So Saffron Stampin' Blends, as I wanted a soft colour palette. I just coloured quickly, no blending, but using both Light and Dark markers.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, CASEing The Catty, Flowering Foils SDSP, So Very Vellum SDSP, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Country Floral 3DEF, Well Scripted, Stampin' Blends

The flowers became my rectangular element, as I cut an oval from the Soft Sea Foam So Very Vellum SDSP pack. It's very subtle, but that's how I wanted it to be. Speaking of subtle, I nearly reached for my Subtle 3DEF for the background, but them I recalled the Country Floral 3DEF, which I haven't used for ages! It fit the floral theme nicely.

I cropped the vellum oval for the front from a larger piece of Vellum, with the intention of using the left over piece on the inside. The writing panel was coped from the largest Stitched So Sweetly die. Do you remember the sentiments I've used? They are from a long retired set, called Well Scripted. I don't have any current Easter sentiments, so I had to reach into my retired stamp sets!

Our challenges are run through our Facebook group, so please pop on over there to join in with the fun. It's easy to join if you aren't already part of the group. When you've made your card, just add your picture to the group.

But now it's time to continue on with the Hop. Next up is the fabulous Judy May with her gorgeous card.

Farewell Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel

Hi!

Today's card is a bit of a Hello, Goodbye card.  I've combined the retiring Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel with the brand new Blendabilities Alcohol Markers.  I'm so in love with these markers!  I've even started stamping images and taking them in my handbag so I can colour while I'm waiting in between appointments.  It's very addictive!

This card was another commissioned card, the request being a card for someone expecting a baby girl.  I used the Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral sets of Markers to colour the onesies.  I left the front of the card without a sentiment as I thought that it didn't really need one. Also because I couldn't think of how to get one on there without it looking a bit strange!

Here's a closer look at my colouring.  I love how you can get the depth of shading with the markers.  On these onesies I used the darkest marker around the edge of the image and shaded lighter as I got closer to the centre of the image.A bit harder on the polka dot onesie, but I think I did ok!

I rolled the whole strip of onesies and coloured most of them.  I didn't want to waste any of my hard work so I fussy cut the last one and used it on the inside.  On this image I placed the darkest colour on the left hand side of the image and shaded lighter as I moved right.  Does that make sense?

It's quite difficult to achieve the look on sections that are so small!  I really loved how it turned out, and I hope the recipient loves it too.

A bit of a whoops that I've made this post about Blendabilities rather than saying goodbye to Baby Tees.  Oh well!

Bye for now,

Tina

Papillion Potpourri Mother's Day Card

Hi!

I'm back today with another of the Mother's Day cards I made this year.  This one was made as a class sample, and was made to be versatile.  It could easily be made into a birthday card by changing the sentiment in the middle.

I CASEd this card, not changing much.  Why mess with a great card?

I thought the use of the butterflies was perfect for a lovely, soft feminine card.

JAI #185: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Is it really Friday? What happened to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday?  I think school holidays and sick kids swallowed up those days.  Oh well, better late than never!

This week Delys has given us a gorgeous Colour Combination to work with.  I really loved this combo - so very pretty and feminine.

I was commissioned to make a card for a bride to be on her hen's night.  The wedding theme is vintage, so the card needed to be vintage too. I thought the colours suited the look perfectly.

I didn't have any "Happy Hen's Night" type sentiments, so I decided to leave the front without a sentiment.  I really don't think it needs on anyway.

To 'age' the background DSP I stamped my Dictionary stamp over the top with Sahara Sand ink and then sponged it quite heavily around the edges.

You can see the difference between the starting point and the end result.  It's quite a difference, but quite simple to achieve.

I also used the Dictionary stamp on the flower panel.  To get the rough look I inked up the stamp, leaving it face up on my desk. I then laid the circle punchie on top and pressed lightly with my fingertips to get an uneven image. Love the effect!

I used the same technique to decorate the inside of the card.

Stamps: Dictionary, Simply Sketched, Well Scripted
Ink: Sahara Sand, Raspberry Ripple, Coastal Cabana
DSP/Cardstock: Eastern Elegance DSP, Raspberry Ripple, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Paper Doily Die, Circles Collection Framelits, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Victoria Lace Trim, Pearls, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Blender Pen

I hope you can play along this week with us at Just Add Ink. It's such a beautiful colour combination, it's sure to inspire.

JAI #162: Just Try A New technique

Hi!

It's another week at Just Add Ink, so another challenge for you. This week Delys has challenged us to try a new technique - one that you haven't tried before.  I decided to try the cracked glass technique.   You can find a tutorial for it here.

The technique basically involves many layers of clear embossing over a stamped image which is then cracked and has ink applied to seep into the cracks. I love the antiqued look it gives, like crazed porcelain.

I probably didn't do enough layers as it didn't quite crack the way I wanted it to, but I still think it looks pretty good!

This card was for my mum for her birthday. I hope she likes it!

Stamps: Field Flowers, Just Believe, Well Scripted (retired)
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, Crumb Cake
DSP/Cardstock: Print Poetry DSP Stack, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla
Other: Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Crochet Ribbon Trim, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, Dotted Scallop Border Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Antique Brad

JAI #151 : Just Add A Shaped Card

Hi!

Here we are at Friday again, and time for another Just Add Ink Challenge!  This challenge was one I suggested - to make a shaped card.  I had the perfect occasion in mind for my card.

I have a very glamorous friend who was celebrating a birthday and I knew she'd adore a glittery stiletto card.

I found the template for the shoe here, and there's a link at the top of the page to take you to more templates - you could use one for this challenge! I just saved the PDF, printed it on Whisper White cardstock and cut around it.  I then traced it onto the Basic Black cardstock and cut it out, and again on Silver Glimmer Paper.  The back of the card also has Glimmer Paper, as I stuffed up the first time and cut the template the wrong way.  Oops!

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it in Melon Mambo Embossing Powder.  When I wrote in the card I used my Silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker.

I hope you can join in the challenge this week at Just Add Ink.  Remember that you must make a shaped card.

Happy Birthday Flowers

Hi!

It's so good to be blogging again! I have a card for you that I made for a special friend for her birthday.

I love the Rich Razzleberry/Lucky Limeade colour combination. It works so well with the flowers from the Field Flowers stamp set.

Some more of that yummy International Bazaar DSP on this inside.

So what do you think of my new watermark? I lost my old one on my old computer, so I whipped this one up last night using PhotoShop and some content from the My Digital Studio discs.  Loving having a little taste of MDS, but I can't wait for the whole program to become available.

JAI #134: Just Add Polka Dots

Hi!

Yes, it's Friday, and another JAI challenge.  This week Trish has put forward a challenge to Just Add Polka Dots to our projects.  I needed to make a baby card, and I though the polka dots were a cute touch.

I made this card a little while ago, so it has a mix of old and new products.  A sad farewell to the Fox And Friends stamp set, and also the satin ribbon.  The colour I have used are two of the gorgeous new In Colours - Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals.  Does Raspberry Ripple make you think about a huge ice cream cone?  Mmmmm, yum!

I stamped the frame and sentiment in Raspberry Ripple and the turtle in Primrose Petals.  They are such lovely, complimentary colours.

Some more retired stamping on the inside!  Oops, I should think a bit more when choosing my products for projects!

Stamps: Happy Moments, A Word For You, Fox And Friends (retired), Well Scripted (retired)
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals
Cardstock: Primrose Petals, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Labels Collections Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Whisper White Satin Ribbon (retired), Basic Jewels Rhinestones, Dimensionals

As usual, I hope you can play along with us this week at Just Add Ink.

Farewell Flirtatious!

Hi!

Today's card has one of my favourite DSP's on it, the Flirtatious Specialty DSP. I particularly loved the doily sheets, which of course meant I hoarded them rather than use them.  I really need to change my thinking!  On this particular card I snipped into the sheet to use one.  I made this card for my Nana, who shares a 'birthday' with this fabulous country.

I tried to keep the card fairly simple as her eyesight's not what it used to be.

If you want some of the Flirtatious SDSP get in quick - it will be gone by the end of the month, if not sooner! As a bonus, Stampin' Up! have it discounted - it's now $18.71, down from $24.95 - a 25% saving!

Some Mother's Day Cards

Hi!

I hope all the mum's out in blogland had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday.  I had a fabulous day with my family.  My children and husband showered me with some handmade gifts and a couple of books followed by pancakes for breakfast and a yummy lunch at a local hotel.  I didn't need to eat tea that night!  I had a lovely day and felt very loved and appreciated all day.  I hope you did too!

So I was going through my 'To Blog' folder on my computer and noticed two Mother's Day cards I'd made with my support group that I hadn't shown you.  I go to this support group most Mondays.  It's for parents of children with special needs and I love going.  I have made and strengthened many friendships in the group as we all have a common bond.  Twice a term I teach cardmaking or scrapbooking to the group.  Last term the group wanted to make Mother's Day cards, so this is what we made.

This card was a CASE, but I can't find the original link now - I made it so long ago!  If you know where I should credit the design, please let me know!  I love the monochromatic look of this card.

Some nice and simple stamping for the inside.

I can't remember if this is a CASE or not! I used some of the lovely but retired Sweet and Sour Speciality DSP on the card.

Some more hearts on the inside.  Mum's love to be loved!

Just Add Ink #116: Just Add Mother's Day

Hi!

Our challenge at Just Add Ink this week is to celebrate all the wonderful mothers out there by making a Mother's Day Card.  I'm lucky enough to have both a fantastic mother and mother-in-law.  Hmmm, I wonder which one will get this card?

I used some of the Attic Boutique DSP from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.  I fussy cut some of the flowers from the DSP and layered them over the same part of a second sheet of the DSP.  I also tried my hand at making a crinkly bow out of seam binding.  I loved it, but Rob thought I'd tied a dead flower to the card!  Men!  What would they know about crinkly seam binding bows? lol

Here's a side on shot showing the layering of the flowers.

I also fussy cut some extra flowers to adhere to the inside.  Such a pretty effect.

I can't wait to see your beautiful Mother's Day cards entered into our Just Add Mother's Day Challenge.

Stamps: Field Flowers, Well Scripted (retired)
Ink: Early Espresso
DSP/Cardstock: Attic Boutique DSP, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Other: Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Pool Party Baker's Twine, Baja Breeze Twitterpated Designer Button, Dimensionals, Paper Snips

Festive Friday #16: Mother's Day

Hi!

Yay!  It's Friday, which means it's Festive Friday time!  This week Nicole has challenged her Design Team to inspire you with cards for Mother's Day using punched flowers on them.  I decided to use a wonderful Joanne Leddy designed flower on mine.  I make lots of these flowers - they are so pretty!

Don't you love how this gorgeous flower takes centre stage?  It sits on a base of Twitterpated DSP.  Love that DSP!  I used more of it on the inside of my card:

I hope you can find time to play along with us this week at Festive Friday Challenges.  Remember, you need to make a Mother's Day card using punched flowers.

Just Add Ink #112" Just Add Colour

Hi!

I'm so sorry my post for the newest Just Add Ink challenge wasn't up on time this week.  I just got home from hospital where my little man Hudson had had his tonsils reduced.  They were massive and causing problems with his swallowing, so something had to be done.  In between returning from Paris and his operation, I totally forgot to write my post.  Anyway, here's the card.

I love using this stamp from Creative Elements to colour.  Oops, I'd better show you the colour combination this week, it's so lovely:

Finally, here's the inside of my card.  I stamped the flourish again and coloured it before adhering the section for writing over the top.

So there you have it!  I hope you can play along this week at Just Add Ink!

Stamps: Creative Elements, Clearly For You, Well Scripted (retired)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette
DSP/Cardstock: Crumb Cake Patterns Stack DSP, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette
Other: Corner Rounder Punch, Vintage Brad, Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

Bye for now,
