Colour Creations: Cajun Craze

 Hi!

Welcome to my blog for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Cajun Craze, a terracotta colour that had a lot of us surprised when it survived the colour refresh. It's one of those colours that most of us don't use much, but is actually a really useful colour.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Sending Smiles Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

I decided to use some Fresh As A Daisy DSP for my card. I really like this sheet of flowers, where Cajun Craze features as the centres of the blooms. I gave them a little brush of Wink Of Stella to add a subtle little bit of pizzazz to the card.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Sending Smiles Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

I used my Sending Smiles bundle to complete the card. The paper is so gorgeous that it doesn't really need much else to go with it.

I had to get a bit fancy for the inside of my card. I wanted the sentiment to flow from the front to the inside, so I had to mask the '&' from a different stamp to add to the front of 'sunshine to brighten your day'. I also used some DSP offcuts to finish off the inside.

That's all from melt please do continue your way around our blog hop tonight. You won't want to miss any of the Cajun Craze gorgeousness. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Di Furniss.

If at any time you find a broken link, please head to the blog of this week’s host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop, Cathy Proctor, and she will have the list of all participants.

JAI 662: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new Just Add Ink challenge. It's such a great way to kick off the weekend! This week we have a Sketch Challenge for you, designed by Lou.

My card was a bit of an accident - I started making a card for my daughter's 18th birthday, and then realised that it fitted the sketch perfectly!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Legendary, The Sassy Club Game Play, Sweet Stamp Shop Legendary Word Die, Stampin' Up! Stargazing DSP, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Pop Culture Card

This style of card is called a Bay Window Card, as the front of it folds out to look like the shape of a bay window. Of course, you then cut a window into the front to reveal the inside of your card. My daughter recently purchased a very popular video game, and so I designed the card to look like a bit of a portal opening to the world in the game - hence the space paper and the game controller as the window.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Legendary, The Sassy Club Game Play, Sweet Stamp Shop Legendary Word Die, Stampin' Up! Stargazing DSP, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Pop Culture Card

Here's the card folded flat, to show you both how it fits the sketch, and that it can easily be sent in the post. Luckily I was just able to hand the card to Ada!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Legendary, The Sassy Club Game Play, Sweet Stamp Shop Legendary Word Die, Stampin' Up! Stargazing DSP, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Pop Culture Card

Here is the inside of the card, showing the main character of the game and the world that he is running around in, getting up to all kinds of adventures. I coloured him with my Watercolour Pencils to suit the look of the DSP better than Copics would.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Legendary, The Sassy Club Game Play, Sweet Stamp Shop Legendary Word Die, Stampin' Up! Stargazing DSP, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Pop Culture Card

And here's the back of the card, where I wrote my message to Ada. This character is one of the key characters in the game

There's lots of inspiration on how to use this sketch over on the Just Add Ink blog. The Design Team ave done a wonderful job with it. Now, we'd like to see what YOU will do with it! Just add your card to our Linky when you've made it.

Colour Creations: Bubble Bath

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week, it's Bubble Bath's turn to come out and play. It's a lovely soft pink, but more importantly, it's a clear, clean pink. I love it!

I have been extremely time poor this week, and did consider pulling out of the blog hop, but I decided to give it a hot crack. I literally had a 20 minute window to make my card. I set a timer and all! When I checked my timer at the end of making the card, I still had 5 minutes on the clock. Woah!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Moments, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

The Fresh As A Daisy DSP made this card so quick! All I needed to do was matt this 4" square piece of DSP onto a slightly larger square of Garden Green cardstock, and pop it up on Dimensionals over a 5" square Thick Whisper White card base.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Moments, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

The sentiment is from a recently retired set, called Peaceful Moments. Sadly, I found out yesterday afternoon that I would need a sympathy card, and I don't have any current sympathy stamp sets.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Moments, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

I used the same stamp set and DSP on the inside of my card. There you have it - my 15 minute wonder card! Isn't it great when the DSP does all of the hard work?

The next stop on tonight's hop is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I'm sure that she's got something gorgeous for you to see.

As ever, the wonderful Cathy Proctor keeps us all organised, so if you run into any issues with broken links pop on over to her blog to find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

CTC 423: Fresh As A Daisy

 Hi!

Welcome back to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. As this hop goes live, I will be just finishing the Adelaide Oval Climb, so fingers crossed all goes well - on the hop and the climb! I'm pretty excited to be able to walk over the top of Adelaide Oval.

But back to the challenge - this week we are asking you to make a project that uses the colours from the Fresh As A Daisy DSP. There's a lot of colours - even more than are listed on our challenge graphic. You don't need to CASE one of the cards in the section of the catalogue, although you can if you want. The main focus is the colours in the DSP.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

As there's a lot of colours, I decided to use a few of them, but in small quantities so that they don't get overwhelming. The small strips are also a great way to use up scraps! I don't know about you, but I always seem to end up with lots of narrow strips of DSP.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

I used the plainer side of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP for half of the strips, and then the matching cardstock for the other half. The sentiment is from Biggest Wish, and is stamped in Bubble Bath ink to match the card base. Early Espresso makes for a great matting colour.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP

I had two tiny pieces of DSP left from the front, just the right size for a pair of banners to decorate the inside.

We'd love for you to join in with our challenge. Just make a card using the colours from the DSP and add a photo to our Facebook group. Use one or two colours, the whole lot, or anywhere in between! Lots of the colours are new to the lineup, so it's really fun to have a play.

The next stop on tonight's blog hop is the lovely Peta Stephen with a card that I'm sure that her cat Marvi must approve of!

Colour Creations: Wild Wheat

 Hi!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. Tonight we are featuring the last of the new In Colours, Wild Wheat. I found it to be a tricky colour, and definitely not one that has stolen my heart! It's sort of a mustardy-gold colour that I found to work well with Early Espresso.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

The DSP that I chose to use was one of the panels from the Fresh As A Daisy DSP. All I had to do was cut it from the sheet and decorate! It's size is more suited to an American A4 card, so I ended up cropping about a quarter of an inch from the bottom of my card base so that I had an even border all around.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used some White Twine to decorate the card, as I don't think that it needed much. The sentiment is from Biggest Wish and is cropped using a Stylish Shapes Die.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I fussy cut a daisy from a different sheet of the DSP for the inside of my card, along with a strip of a plainer Wild Wheat paper from the same pack.

There's lots more Wild Wheat inspiration to be found on tonight's blog hop, starting with my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I'm sure that she's made something fabulous!

Colour Creations: Pebbled Path

 Hi!

It's time once again for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's Pebbled Path week - one of our new In Colours. Hmm, I have to say that I haven't yet warmed to this colour, even after a play with it this week. Being a grey, it's a tricky colour to make the 'hero' colour on a card. I decided to go for the old faithful Fresh As A Daisy DSP, which features Pebbled Path.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I saw this layout on a card made by Linda Dalke on Facebook, and I thought that it worked well for this paper. I think it would be a bit dreary without the pop of Crushed Curry and Lemon Lolly.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used Biggest Wish for my sentiment, and it was cropped with the Stylish Shapes Dies, as was the banner underneath.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used some left over pieces of DSP on the inside of my card. It's a nice change to add the DSP to the side rather than along the bottom of the insert.

That's all from me for tonight, but please keep on going around our blog hop. Next stop is my lovely friend, Christine Blain. She makes awesome masculine cards, so I'm sure that she's had no trouble being inspired by Pebbled Path!

As always, the very wonderful Cathy Proctor is keeping us all organised tonight, so please pop on over to her blog if you come across a broken link. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Moody Mauve

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by on your way around our Colour Creations Blog Hop. We re starting with the new In Colours, and this week it's Moody Mauve's turn. I wasn't a big fan of the colour, but after a play I'm starting to come around.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy, Stylish Shapes Dies

I've seen a few cards lately using strips of cardstock to create a background panel, so that was my starting point for this card. I alternated Moody Mauve with the new pink, Bubble Bath, and Whisper White. I quite like that combo! I layered it over some Gold Foil for a bit of extra zing.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy, Stylish Shapes Dies

To decorate, I cropped a daisy from the Fresh As A Daisy DSP with one of my circular Stylish Shapes Dies. The sentiment, from Biggest Wish, was cropped using one of the banner dies from the same pack. I used my Layering Circles Dies to add a matt of Gold Foil under the daisy. The gold works nicely with the Wild Wheat in the daisy DSP.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy, Stylish Shapes Dies

As always, when I made the front panel I made it a bit bigger than I needed for the front so that I could use the rest on the inside of my card. It ties it all together so nicely. The smaller daisy is a nice finishing touch, too.

That's all from me, but please do keep hopping your way around all of the blogs on tonight's hop. The next stop is Christina Barnes - I can't wait to see what she's made.

If you run into any issues with links on the hop, just pop on over to the wonderful Cathy Proctor's blog. She will have a list of all tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Copper Clay

 Hi!

Welcome back to Copper Clay week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. I wasn't too keen on the coppery brown at first, but after playing with it, I think it's grown on me a little.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies

I kept my card nice and simple today. I cut a card front sized piece of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP and cropped it using my curved Basic Border Die. I made sure that I didn't cut off too much of that gorgeous big daisy at the bottom right.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies

Biggest Wish was the perfect choice for a sentiment for my card, cropped with a Stylish Shapes Die. I added a few Champagne Rhinestones before I realised that they have retired. They work well with Copper Clay though!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Biggest Wish, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Basic Borders Dies

I never like to waste paper, so I used the offcut from the front of the card on the inside of my card. It's a great way to decorate the inside!

Thanks for stopping by, but please do keep going around out blog hop. There's so much more Copper Clay goodness to be seen. Next up is my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri.

If you run into any problems with links, just pop on over to the wonderful Cathy Proctor's blog. She'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Boho Blue

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the start of the 2023-24 Colour Creations Blog Hops. I didn't think I'd be able to join in this week, as we are starting with the new In Colours and silly me forgot to order anything! Thankfully my wonderful friend (and fellow hopper) Andrea Sargent came to my rescue with some In Colour products for me. She's a gem!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Timber 3DEF

We are starting this week with Boho Blue - or should I say 'Yo Ho Blue'? LOL! On The Ocean, with it's pirate ship, was the only choice for me this week! I was soooo happy when the bundle carried over to the new Annual Catalogue so that I get to use it for a whole year longer.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Timber 3DEF

I used some of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP for the background of my scene. As soon as I looked at it, I thought that it looked like clouds in the sky. A bit of stamped ocean on the bottom, and birds in the sky, and I have an easy-peasy background for my ship. I think that the DSP might be more Azure Afternoon than Boho Yo Ho Blue, but along with Night Of Navy, they work together well.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, On The Ocean Bundle, Fresh As A Daisy DSP, Timber 3DEF

A little more stamping finished off the inside nicely. While you continue your way around the hop, I'm off to order some of the new In Colour stuff!

The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous card or two. The hops are always a surprise for us, too - we don't share before the hop.

And, as always, the wonderful Cathy Proctor is keeping us all organised. If you run into any issues with links, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's hoppers to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,
