CTC 309: Mini Catalogue Bundles

Hi!

Thanks for joining me once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are asking you to CASE a card from the Bundles Section of the Jan-June Mini Catalogue.

There were quite a few cards through the section that appealed to me, but as soon as I saw this card, I knew it was the one!

I loved the blended background with the silhouette-type images over the top. I was recently invited to a birthday party for a friend who, before COVID, travelled regularly to Bali. I thought that this was a great opportunity to make a Bali-ish card for her.

I wanted the look of a Bali sunset, so I started with some Whisper White card and used my Blending Brushes to apply ink to the card. From top to bottom I used Daffodil Delight, Purple Posy, Blueberry Bushel and Night Of Navy. I then used my Friendly Silhouette Dies to cut the palm trees and horizon line.

I used a dry Aqua Painter to flick some Frost White Shimmer paint over the top - hopefully it looks like stars just starting to appear in the night sky. Finally, I popped the whole piece up on a Basic Black card base.

I replicated the scene on the inside, except that I used stamped palm trees from Friend Like You. I also dotted the stars on with a white gel pen instead of the flicked paint.

So, what do you think? Bali at sunset? I hope so!

As always, you can join in with our challenge through our Facebook group. Just post a photo of your project in the group. It really is that easy!

Next up in this week's blog hop is the lovely Peta. Her card is stunning, and uses a die set that I am trying to resist buying. She's making it very difficult for me!

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC #299: Step Up An Annual Catalogue Project

 Hi!

Welcome back to CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenges for 2021! This year we are kicking off by asking you to CASE any project from the current Annual Catalogue. Hmmm, which one to pick?

As always, I started at the back and only got as far as the Punch Bundles section before I found this beauty.

I loved the simple stamped grass and flowers, and the sweet dragonflies in the background. I don't have this bundle, but the Friend Like You bundle is a very good alternative, especially as I needed to Step Up the card.

I stepped up the stamping by using a die cut instead. This die from the Friendly Silhouettes Dies was perfect! I cropped some Watercolour Paper and then used my ink pads and a Water Brush to colour the diecut. I realised after I'd glued it down that I should have flipped it and coloured the other side so that I didn't have to flip the layout of the whole card, but I think that this layout works too.

I continued to Step Up the card by adding a few layers, heat embossing in Silver rather than White, adding some Silver Foil paper and a few Rhinestones.

I watercoloured another little section of the die to use the inside. It finishes off the card nicely, don't you think? I couldn't resist adding a few more dragonflies too!

Our challenge is run through our Facebook group, so once you've joined the group all you need to do is add a photo of your card to the group before the challenge deadline on Sunday evening. Easy!

Before you dash off to get creating, please do finish our Blog Hop! Next up is my fellow South Aussie, the wonderful Michelle. Hmm, I wonder which card she chose to CASE?

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Bumblebee

Hi!

Thanks for joining me once again for the new week of the Colour Creations Showcase. This week we are up to Bumblebee, the first of our new In Colours. It's been around for a little longer than the other new In Colours, as we got access to it with the early release of the Ornate Garden suite. It's what I'd call a dirty yellow - maybe dusty yellow is a nicer description though!

I started this week's card by sponging some Bumblebee ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, making it darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. I then stamped some of the reeds from Friend Like You on either side of the sponging, followed by some dragonflies.

To create the top layer, I die cut an oval window into the cardstock and then embossed it with my Subtle 3DEF. I used the reeds die from the Friendly Silhouettes Dies to crop a piece of Basic Black card, which was adhered to the back of the window. The whole piece was popped up over the sponged piece. The sentiment panel and a couple of popped up dragonflies (thank you Foam Adhesive Sheets!) finished off the front.

I created a similar scene on the inside by sponging and stamping before adhering the die cut over the top. I quite like the look of the dragonflies flitting among the reeds! Hopefully the Bumblebee sky looks a little like a sunset.

Please head on over the Catherine's blog, where you can find the rest of the links for this week's Showcase. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has done with Bumblebee, as it's a colour I haven't really used yet.

Bye for now,

Tina
