Convention Swap 1

Hi!

As you read this I'm in Melbourne having the time of my life at Stampin' Up!'s Annual Convention.  While I'm away I thought I'd show you the swaps I made for the event.  I made 3 different designs, so I'll show you one for each day of Convention.

This swap was based on a card I made recently for a friend's new baby.  You can see the original card here.

Stamps: All A Flutter, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, Baroque Motifs
Ink: Pretty In Pink
Cardstock: Pretty In Pink, Whisper White
Other: Decorative Label Punch, Paper Snips, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber

Elegant Soiree Sympathy Card

Hi!

I made this card on commission, sadly a sympathy card to be sent a family who had recently lost a loved one.  These are always the hardest cards to make!

I used the latest sketch at Stamping 411 as the basis for the card.  I haven't entered one of their challenges before, mostly as I've only just found their blog.  I was blog surfing while procrastinating on my Convention swaps!

Stamps: Punch Potpourri, Thoughts and Prayers, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Baja Breeze, Soft Suede
DSP/Cardstock: Elegant Soiree DSP, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon, Two Step Bird Punch, Sponge Daubers

Baby Girl Slice of Life

Hi!

One of Rob's workmates had a baby girl recently so Rob asked me to make a card for the new parents.  I have just received the Slice Of Life stamp set, so I was eager to get it inky.

It's a little difficult to see in the photo, but I stamped the image in the frame created by the negative of the Decorative Label punch.  I then stamped it again on a scrap of cardstock, cut it out and popped it on Dimensionals on top of the first image.

Stamps: Slice of Life, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, A Word For You
Ink: Pretty In Pink
Cardstock: Pretty In Pink, Whisper White
Other: Decorative Label Punch, 2" x 1 3/8" Oval XL Punch, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals, Paper Snips

Gifted with Mistletoe Ribbon

Hi!

Back again with another Christmas card.  The plan as I was making this one last night was to make one and if I liked how it turned out I'd make another 4.  I've been doing this with my Christmas cards to build up my stash a bit more quickly.  In the end though I only got the one made as I got slightly distracted by Packed to the Rafters.  Fantastic episode, but very sad.

Anyway, here's my card.  Maybe I'll get the other 4 done tonight!

I started out by using the card on page 20 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue for inspiration.  In the end though, only the So Swirly across the bottom is the same.  I had received my Stampin' Up! order yesterday so I used some new goodies: the Scallop Trim border punch, Gifted stamp set and the FREE Mistletoe Ribbon from the Dress Up Christmas promotion.

Stamps: Gifted, So Swirly
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive
DSP/Card Stock: Jolly Holiday DSP, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler
Other: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals, Old Olive Mistletoe Ribbon

Helping Hudson and Just Add Ink

Hi!

I'm here today with the card I designed for both the Helping Hudson Colour Challenge and the latest Just Add Ink Challenge.  Hudson is my little man and we are trying to raise the money to purchase him a Kid Walk mobility aid.  The fabulous girls at Just Add Ink have been a fantastic source of support for our fundraiser.  You can find out all about it at Helping Hudson: A Wheely Great Cause.

The Helping Hudson colour challenge was to design a monochromatic card and the JAI challenge was to Just Add Wheels.  Here's my card:

I've used the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel to create the background of this card.  I'm so pleased that we're not losing this wheel in the next catalogue - I love it lots!

There's a fantastic prize up for grabs in both challenges - so please pop on over to both and give them a go.

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel
Card Stock: Creamy Caramel, Close To Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Other: Chit Chat Rub Ons (retired), Chocolate Chip Button, Sponge Dauber, Word Window Punch

Catch you later - hopefully over at Helping Hudson!

My First Workshop

Hi!

I ran my very first Stampin' Up! workshop on Sunday. I had a fabulous time and the whole experience confirmed that I made the right decision to become an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

I thought I'd share with you the cards we made. Brooke, my hostess, wanted to have a play with Stampin' Around Wheels so we made 2 cards with the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel. I CASED the design of these cards from Roz Veevers, a very talented Stampin' Up! Demo.

For the first card, we used Ballet Blue highlights. This card was rolled straight along the card stock:

For the second card we used Regal Rose highlights and rolled diagonally across the card stock. It gives a slightly different effect:

The guests had a few options with the cards: the orientation of the final card (tall or wide) and how they were going to adhere their sentiment. The Ballet Blue card has only the Whisper White section of the sentiment raised. The Regal Rose has the whole sentiment raised. I think the guests liked being able to make a few choices.

For the third card, we made a card that was a bit more difficult. Brooke's favourite colour is purple, and as soon as she saw Rich Razzleberry she loved it. So what else could I do but get them to make a Rich Razzleberry card:

This card used a heap of different techniques and products: border punches, tearing, 2 step stamping, fussy cutting, sponging and stamping off. The ladies loved making the card, and their cards were fabulous.

So Swirly Cards:
Stamps: So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, Best Yet (level 1 hostess set)
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Ballet Blue, Regal Rose
Card Stock: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Ballet Blue, Regal Rose
Other: Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber

Rich Razzleberry Card:
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
DSP/Card Stock: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Orchid Opulence
Other: Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, 1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Paper Snips
