JAI 752: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have an Inspiration Photo to spark your creativity, suggested to us by Jo.

It's a cute vintage car, and the flowers in the back scream 'wedding' to me. Do you agree? Having said that, I instantly thought of a cute stamp I had that I thought worked well. To me, the stamp and the inspo photo both have flowers in unexpected or unusual places.

The stamp is called Basics: Floral Coffee Mug, and is from Ink Road Stamps. I stamped it using Memento ink, and then coloured it with colours pulled from the Inspiration Photo - Mint Macaron, Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight, Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment is from Attention Shoppers, and the DSP is Mint Macaron gingham. It's one of my favourite ever SU colours, and the car was close enough in colour to justify using it on my card.

On the inside I stamped the main image again in second generation Mint Macaron ink, with another sentiment from Attention Shoppers. I accidentally cut the Whisper White cardstock too small, but I think it looks ok - just a larger border on the inside!

We'd love to see what inspires you from the Inspiration Photo. Will it be the car, the colours, or maybe the flowers? You can see what the Design Team made over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also link up your card when you're ready.

JAI 664: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Hooray - it's Friday! It's been a busy week for me, but for Friday through to Sunday my diary is looking very blank. I'm looking forward to having some crafty time, both with paper and fabric over the weekend. What about you? Hopefully you can find time to play along with our new Just Add Ink challenge.

This week Di has suggested this gorgeous colour combo for us to play with. I adore the blue/greens, and the soft purple is a stunning colour to complement them. I decided to go with a somewhat floral card, even though Pool Party and Lost Lagoon aren't really 'leafy' colours. I think it turned out beautifully, though.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday To You Bundle

I pulled an old stamp and die set, Happy Birthday To You, off my shelf and stamped the cake image on Shimmery White paper using Stazon ink so that I could watercolour the image. I used Pool Party for the cake and the other two colours for the blooms.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday To You Bundle

The sheer Pool Party ribbon adds a lovely bit of pizzazz to the card, don't you think? It shimmers nicely, too, to go along with the Shimmery White cardstock that I've stamped and coloured.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday To You Bundle

I stamped the cake image again for the inside, just catching a portion of it on the edge of the card. It's a bit too big to stamp the whole image on the inside!

What do you see with the colours? There are so many possibilities. You can see what the rest of the Design Team have done with the colours over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also add your card to our Linky when you're ready to enter the challenge.

CTC 404: Country Floral Lane Suite

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by on your way around the CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. It's a great way to finish the weekend, don't you think?

This week we are asking you to CASE a project from the Country Floral Lane Suite pages of the new Mini Catalogue. The projects are all a bit lovey-dovey for me, so I decided to make a birthday card instead.

My eye was caught by this card on page 8. I really loved the strips of DSP, the ribbon that has been cut in half, and the layering under the sentiment. I included all of these things in my card, but in very different ways.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Simply Fabulous,Brilliant Wings Dies, Penned Flowers Dies, Country Gingham DSP

I started by cutting some strips of Country Gingham DSP and cropping the edges of most of the pieces with the border die from the Penned Flowers Dies. These were layered over a Thick Whisper White card base. Shhh, I snuck in a little bit of retired Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper to finish it off.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Simply Fabulous,Brilliant Wings Dies, Penned Flowers Dies, Country Gingham DSP

I cropped some Balmy Blue paper from the Subtles Stack using the outline flower die in the Penned Flowers, topped it with some White Glittered Organdy Ribbon, which I'd cut in half. The butterfly over the top has one layer cut from the Mint Macaron Glimmer paper, and the second from Layering Designs Vellum. A few scattered pearls finished off the front.

I used my Simply Fabulous stamp set for sentiments throughout the card. The butterfly was cropped using my Brilliant Wings Dies from some left over DSP from the front. I don't like to waste any scraps!

All you need to do to play along with us is make your project and add a photo to our Facebook group. It's that easy!

Before you go, please do continue your way around our blog hop for plenty more Country Floral Lane Suite inspiration. The next stop is the lovely Monique Fielder.

Colour Creations: Pale Papaya

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for a new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at Pale Papaya, one of the In Colours that will retire mid-way through 2023. It's a soft, peachy orange that I quite like.

I think that it pairs very well with Calypso Coral, so I was drawn to this combo by Brian King. Pear Pizzazz was a great addition to the mix.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Moments, Lovely Linen DSP, Subtles DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

My layout was inspired by this card by Linda Dalke. I added an extra section to the mix, just for a little extra interest. The Pale Papaya paper is from the Lovely Linen DSP pack. I adore the papers in this pack, but keep forgetting to use them! I snuck in a little piece of retired Pale Papaya Vellum under the sentiment circle for a bit of extra shimmer.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Moments, Lovely Linen DSP, Subtles DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies

I used another strip of the DSP on the inside to finish off my card.

I actually made three cards in the end. The best way to make a card like this is to cut three pieces of DSP, layer them and then cut through all layers at once. Then just mix and match to get three complete card fronts. It's not too much extra work, especially if you decorate them the same way.

Please continue your way around our Pale Papaya blog hop. There's lots more inspiration to be seen, starting with my lovely friend, Kate Morgan.

Colour Creations: Crushed Curry

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by for our new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Crushed Curry's turn to be the feature colour. Do you like Cushed Curry? I think it's one of those polarising colours. I'm not a huge fan, and I really struggled with my card.

As ever, Brian King was the source of a fantastic colour combination featuring Crushed Curry. I had in mind to do a masculine card, but nothing I tried really worked. In the end, I tried something completely different.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Artistically Inked, Artistic Dies, Beautiful Shapes Dies, Subtles DSP

At a recent stamping day with friends, I took the opportunity to crop a few of these flowers from the Artistic Dies in white. I thought about colouring the die cut, but it seemed to be a fiddly job, so I kept thinking! The coordinating stamp set is designed to layer with the die cuts, so how could I get a similar look without the stamps? Different dies! I used the hexagons from Beautiful Shapes Dies to go underneath the flower.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Colour Creations, Artistically Inked, Artistic Dies, Beautiful Shapes Dies, Subtles DSP

I really like how it turned out! I used my retired Hexagon punch to crop the sentiment. It's slightly smaller than one of the hexagon dies, so it layers beautifully.

I completed the inside with a partial die cut using a similar technique as the front of the card.

Thanks again for joining me for the hop tonight, but please do continue your way around all the blogs to see how lovely Crushed Curry can be. The next stop is my wonderfully artistic friend, Kathryn Ruddick.

If you run into any problems with links, please jump on over to Cathy Proctor's blog. She does a fabulous job of keeping us all organised, and will have a list of all of tonight's participants on her blog.

Colour Creations: Sweet Sorbet

 Hi!

Hooray for a new Colour Creations Blog Hop! This week we are looking at another new In Colour - Sweet Sorbet. It's a lovely, deep pink that is definitely growing on me.

Once again I looked to Brian King for a stunning colour combo. I love the mix of pinks, and the addition of Crumb Cake is perfection. I think this is my favourite combo of the four In Colour gift card sets that I have made so far.

Here is the group together. Aren't they pretty and feminine? I thought that the die from Penned Flowers would be perfect for my Silver Foil accent piece.

Thanks for joining me, but please do continue your way around our blog hop tonight. There's plenty more Sweet Sorbet inspiration to be found, starting with Amie McIlroy.

As ever, the lovely Catherine Proctor keeps us all organised and the blog hop ticking over. If you do happen to find a broken link, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all participants.

Colour Creations: Starry Sky

 Hi!

Gee whizz! It's Wednesday night again, which means Colour Creations time. This week certainly has rolled past very quickly! This week it's Starry Sky's turn to shine. It's a lovely, deep blue.

I've once again looked to Brian King for colour inspiration. I chose the combo above as it's a more masculine combo, and I thought that it would slot nicely into my In Colour card gift set. You can't go too wrong with red, white and blue for males!

I had to use the retired Stitched Leaves Dies for the Silver Foil accent on my cards, as I don't yet have any of the new masculine stuff! If you were replicating my cards it would be easy enough to use a different accent piece.

That's all from me for tonight, but please don't forget to look at everyones's blog tonight. There's lots of gorgeousness to be found, starting with the lovely Rachel Woollard.

If you run into any issues, please pop on over to the blog of our lovely Hostess, Catherine Proctor. She will have a list of all participants to help get you back on track.

JAI 603: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Woo hoo for Friday! It's been a busy week, so I'm looking forward to the weekend. I hope that you are, too.

This week at Just Add Ink, Nikki has given us a pretty colour combo to create with. Hehe, I think that a lot of the Design Team thought that it was a very floral combo, as there are lots of flower cards in the gallery. I was no exception!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Butterflies & Flowers Masks, Expressions Thinlits, Timeless Tulips, Subtles DSP

These colours work so beautifully with the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Masks, don't you think? I started with a base of Blushing Bride and added the Rich Razzleberry over the top. The final layer was the Mint Macaron leaves.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Butterflies & Flowers Masks, Expressions Thinlits, Timeless Tulips, Subtles DSP

I had some Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper in my stash, so I used the long-retired Expressions Thinlit Dies to crop the word 'love'.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Butterflies & Flowers Masks, Expressions Thinlits, Timeless Tulips, Subtles DSP

I made this card to give to my Mother-In-Law for Mother's Day, so finished it off with some more stencilling and a sentiment from Timeless Tulips. She loved the card (and the gift) that we gave her.

You can see the rest of this week's Design Team cards over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also link up your card for our challenge. What do you see in our colour combo this week?
