JAI #223: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

It's nearly the end of the school holidays here.  One weekend to go!  We are having a group of giggly girls for a sleep over tonight for Ada's birthday.  She turned 9 a week ago, but we delayed her party until the end of the holidays.  I mention her birthday because the card I made for the new Just Add Ink challenge was her birthday card.

This week it's s sketch designed by yours truly.  I love designing sketches, but I love seeing what people do with them even more!

Here's the card I made for her.  I turned the sketch into an easel card and stamped it using the new Flower Patch Photopolymer stamp set.

I really love this set and the endless possibilities for combining the images and colours.  Ada's favourite colour is blue, so I stuck with blues for her card.

All little girls love some bling, so the 9 was the perfect way to add it to her card.

A bit more bling on the base to keep the card propped open!

I'm pleased to say that she loved the card!

I hope you find time to play along with my sketch at Just Add Ink this week.

Bye for now,

Tina

Happy Birthday Hudson!

Hi!

My not-so-baby boy turned 6 last month. Anyone discovered a magic formula for stopping them growing up yet??? The last year has flown by so quickly - he's been at school for a year now. Sigh...

If you're the parent/grand parent of a toddler you probably already know that this gorgeous creature is Little Charley Bear.  Are you there Charley Bear?  Hudson absolutely LOVES Charley Bear. We had two 9 hour drives during the holidays and Hudson watched his Charley Bear DVD the whole way.  Yes, 9 hours straight of Charley Bear.  Twice.  So what else was I going to do but make him a Charley Bear card for his birthday?

To make Charley Bear I found this printable colouring page.  I used the first one on the list.  I saved the PDF and opened it in Photoshop where I cropped it to 6x4 inches.  I then printed it twice, once on Very Vanilla and again on Soft Suede.  I have a mini printer that prints 6x4 inch prints, so it was perfect.  I then cut out the Vanilla bits and adhered them to the Soft Suede Charley.  I had cut the paw print on his tummy from the Soft Suede bit, but the Soft Suede bits on his paws were just coloured with my marker.  I was really pleased with how he turned out.

Lots of room on the inside for us all to write a lovely birthday message to the birthday boy.  He loved his card.

Bye for now,

Tina

Epic Day This And That Journal: This Is 38

Hi!

I was pretty excited when Stampin' Up! released the Epic Day Smash Album.  I bought one as soon as I could, and then thought "OK, now what am I going to do with it?" There was a part of me thinking it was too pretty to use, but I squashed her back in her box.  I had a few ideas, but in the end I decided to use it as a kind of diary for a year of my life.

I sat down last week to decorate the front.  And then I got a blank. I ended up starting with the numbers.  I turned 38 last week, so it was a good starting point. I wanted them to stand out, so I covered them with some of the brighter paper from the Epic Day DSP pack.

I love the coordinating Hexagon punch for stress free creating! I simply punched a few, sponged them and adhered them onto the cover.  I had previously stamped Off The Grid over the cover, and also Flowering Flourishes.

I used Notable Alphabet to stamp the rest of the title. I chose the title "This Is 38" as I want this book to be a keepsake of my life this year, so my family can look back and know what I was like at 38.  I will aim to keep it about me - not the kids, not Rob, just me.  It will be a challenge, as most mums love talking about their kids and family!

This is the inside of the front cover.  I took a selfie photo on my birthday so when I print it, it will go here and I will write some bits about myself.  I'm really looking forward to completing this album all about me!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI Scrapbooking Challenge #5: Just Add Heritage

Hi!

It's the first Sunday of the month, which means it's time for a new scrapbooking challenge at Just Add Ink. This month we are challenging you to use a heritage photo in your layout.  I selected a photo that my grandfather took in 1926.

This photo has always stuck in my memory, so this challenge provided to perfect opportunity to scrap it.  Can you see in the photo - everyone is sitting on the beach in their Sunday best?  I also love that the people in the photo are so relaxed, not the usual stiffly posed photo of the era.

I used some more of the gorgeous Joanne Leddy flowers on my layout, they are such a statement but in an understated way!

I kept my layout fairly monochromatic in keeping with the Heritage theme of the challenge.  How are you going to interpret this challenge this month?  I can't wait to see your layout over at Just Add Ink.

Ink: Wisteria Wonder
DSP/Cardstock: In Colour Patterns DSP, First Edition Specialty DSP, Concord Crush Textured 12x12 Cardstock, Basic Black, Wisteria Wonder, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Simple Numbers Bigz Dies, Swirls Scribbles Sizzlits Die, Top Note Bigz Die, Fancy Flower Punch, 5-Petal Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Vintage Brads, Paper Snips
