AWH Blog Hop: In Colours

Hi!

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring the current In Colours. There are 10 to choose from, including the new 2019 - 2021 In Colours and the carrying over 2018 - 2020 In Colours. If you would like a copy of the 2019 - 2020 Annual Catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

For my card I selected three of the new In Colours - can you work out which ones?

Hopefully you worked out that they were Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray and Rococo Rose.

Last weekend I was invited to attend my friend Kathryn's team stamping day. We like to share ideas and projects, and the lovely Caroline shared some samples she'd made using the Block Fill technique. My card is a bit of a cross between it and the Inlaid Dies technique. Instead of stamping the butterflies and colouring the rest of the rectangle black, I cut a black rectangle and then cut the butterfly shapes from it before replacing the cut bits with stamped and cut butterflies. Hopefully that makes sense!

I finished it off by using a fine tipped marker to add a couple of lines around the rectangle. I added some dots to the inner line, just for a bit of added interest. I quite like this technique, and I think I'll be giving it a go again.

I also used some of the new Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon to back my sentiment. I had to chop it down the middle and adhere it to the back of the sentiment, but it was very easy to do. A bit of Linen Thread and a few black sequins, and the front was done!

I repeated the same elements on the inside - the three colours, the butterflies and the hand drawn border. Thanks for showing me such a fun technique, Caroline!

That's it for me, next you are off to visit the lovely Vicki Boucher at her blog to see what wonderful In Colour deliciousness she has whipped up!

JAI #455: Just Add Sympathy

Hi!

Welcome to this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This time Kim has challenged us to make a sympathy card. I was a bit pleased when I first saw this challenge, as the sympathy section of my card box is empty, and I saw this as a chance to restock it a bit. Nobody likes making sympathy cards when they actually need them.

However, fate sometimes laughs at our plans, and as it happens, I needed to make a sympathy card this week. We very sadly learned that one of Hudson's little school mates passed unexpectedly last week and her memorial service is tomorrow.

The little girl's family are religious, and so I wanted to make a card to reflect this. I chose a piece of the Graceful Glass vellum that reminded me of a church stained glass window, and paired it with a piece of Wood Textures DSP that had the look of a church pew. Can you see it?

I coloured the vellum with some of my Blends and then wrapped it around a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut slightly smaller than the panel. This was to avoid having visible adhesive on the front.

On the inside I stamped a butterfly from my Painted Glass stamps set to bring a piece of the front to the inside. I think a sympathy card for a child is especially hard to make, but I hope this card will bring some comfort to her family.

The Design Team have made some beautiful cards this week. Quite a few of us were in the same boat of needing to make the cards to give straight away. You can find the cards at the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also link up your sympathy card.

Bye for now,

Tina

AWH August Blog Hop: Coloured Images

Hi!

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring cards with images that you can colour in. We hope our Blog Hop inspires you to pick up some Stampin’ Write markers, Watercolour pencils, Stampin' Blends or another form of colouring medium and colour in with your stamps.

Don’t forget to contact any of the ladies on the blog hop to order any products, especially the limited edition Colour Your Season products.

For this month's Blog Hop I decided to stretch the rules a little. The theme is Coloured Images, but instead of stamping and colouring an image I created a mask which I used to draw my own image to colour.

Do you recognise it? It's a die from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits set. I cut it from scrap cardstock, trimmed it to the size I was after, used washi to adhere it to my cardstock and then traced through the design with a pen.

I then used my watercolour pencils to colour the rainbow of colours in the design. I use a Wink Of Stella pen to blend the colours together. LOL, I don't think I've ever used the pencils with my Aqua Painter! Each of the little sections was coloured with two colours, leaving a little white in the middle. The WOS pen is then used to smooth the colour and to pull it into the white section until the two colours blend nicely.

Just in case you were wondering, here's the colours I used. It was a mix of the old and new packs to get the perfect spectrum. The new collection of Watercolour Pencils are available this month, however Stampin' Up! have said that they may be in an upcoming catalogue.

I used some of the same colours to colour the butterfly on the inside.

Are you a colourer? What's your preferred medium? Are you keen on pencils, markers or Blends? I love all three!

That' sit for me, so now it’s time for you to hop on over to Ros Davidson's blog. She makes awesome cards, and she's also the one that organises us to do our hops. Thanks, Ros!

Here's a list of all of the hoppers tonight in case you come across a broken link:

JAI #410: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Welcome back to a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Jo has found an Inspiration photo for us to work with.

I must admit that I really struggled with this one. It's such an explosion of colour! In the end, I decided to use all of the colours, but in much smaller doses. That got the creativity flowing!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Just Add Ink, Painted Glass, Graceful Glass, Celebrate You Thinlits, Blends

I chose a square piece of the new Graceful Glass Designer Vellum and coloured it with my Blends markers. I went with a square to match with the squares in the side table. I chose pink, yellow, orange and aqua markers to go with the pom pom garland on the wall.

The vellum piece is actually a window in the card. I took this photo with a battery operated tea light inside the card to show you how the light shines through. It's so pretty in real life - very hard to capture in a photograph.

I used the coordinating Painted Glass stamp set to finish off the inside. I deliberately didn't stamp where the window sat so that when the card was closed it has a white backing. It makes the stained glass effect so much nicer.

The Design Team have had a fun time with this Inspiration Challenge. You can see their gorgeous cards over at the Just Add Ink blog, where you can link up your card.

Bye for now,

Tina
