JAI 654: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a colour combo for you, suggested to us by Rochelle.

I really love it! The bright colours are a little bit Summery (as I sit here on a miserable rainy day in late Autumn) and a little bit retro. I had some arch dies that I hadn't played with yet, and thought they'd go well with a retro theme. We used to have curtains with an arched pattern when I was a little kid in the late 70's.

The arched Dies are from Paper Rose, and are called Nesting Arches. I used the largest three to cut cardstock in the challenge colours and then layered them up over some Whisper White cardstock embossed using the Timber 3DEF.

The sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted stamp set, called Bedtime Story. It has a marvellous range of sentiments, all book-related. Speaking of books, I used my WaffleFlower Layered Books Dies to create the book for the front of my card.

I used the smaller version of the book and another arch and Clearly Besotted sentiment on the inside of my card. I like this sentiment - I definitely do not like being disturbed when I am engrossed in a book!

I realised today that the challenge colours were very similar to the block I just finished sewing in my current quilt. It you remove the pinks, you're just left with lime green, aqua, yellow, black and white.

Isn't it funny how hobbies can sometimes intersect? If you're interested, the quilt is Galaxy by Lilabelle Lane, and is English Paper Pieced using Tula Pink fabrics.

That's all from for now - I'm off to sew the next block in my quilt! Hopefully you're off to check out the Just Add Ink blog for more Design Team inspiration before making your card and adding it to our Linky for the challenge.

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Boho Blue

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the start of the 2023-24 Colour Creations Blog Hops. I didn't think I'd be able to join in this week, as we are starting with the new In Colours and silly me forgot to order anything! Thankfully my wonderful friend (and fellow hopper) Andrea Sargent came to my rescue with some In Colour products for me. She's a gem!

We are starting this week with Boho Blue - or should I say 'Yo Ho Blue'? LOL! On The Ocean, with it's pirate ship, was the only choice for me this week! I was soooo happy when the bundle carried over to the new Annual Catalogue so that I get to use it for a whole year longer.

I used some of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP for the background of my scene. As soon as I looked at it, I thought that it looked like clouds in the sky. A bit of stamped ocean on the bottom, and birds in the sky, and I have an easy-peasy background for my ship. I think that the DSP might be more Azure Afternoon than Boho Yo Ho Blue, but along with Night Of Navy, they work together well.

A little more stamping finished off the inside nicely. While you continue your way around the hop, I'm off to order some of the new In Colour stuff!

The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Rachel Woollard, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous card or two. The hops are always a surprise for us, too - we don't share before the hop.

And, as always, the wonderful Cathy Proctor is keeping us all organised. If you run into any issues with links, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's hoppers to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Merry Merlot

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by on our Colour Creations Merry Merlot Blog Hop. As the name suggests, it's a deep burgundy/red that's part of the Neutral colour family.

I really liked this colour combo from Brian King. It screams 'nautical' to me, but as I don't have any stamps in that theme, I had to think a bit harder about what to do.

Rugged Icons to the rescue! I used a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet on the back of some Very Vanilla cardstock before cropping it with the beard die. It adds such lovely dimension, and is way less fiddly than trying to add foam adhesive later.

For my background, I embossed some Vanilla card with the Timber 3DEF, and then used a Blending Brush to add some Merry Merlot ink over the top. Finally, I added some splatters in Night Of Navy.

This time, I just added some Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Merry Merlot cardstock before cropping with the beard die. I love the way that the beard wraps around the sentiment!

The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Theresa Gerrard. I can't wait to see what she's done with Merry Merlot.

If you run into any issues with links on the blog hop, please jump on over to the blog of the very wonderful Cathy Proctor. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants on her blog.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 389: Annual Catalogue Bundle

Hi!

It's time once again for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Our challenge works by asking you to CASE different aspects of Stampin' Up!'s catalogues. CASEing is a great way to spark your creativity.

This week we are asking you to CASE a card from the Bundles Section of the Annual Catalogue. In flicking through the section, I discovered that I don't own a single bundle from the catalogue! I'm not quite sure how that happened, so I had to think extra creatively this week.

I ended up choosing this butterfly card from page 161. I really liked the white die cuts layered over the stripes of coloured cardstock. They really pop against the colour.

I recently purchased the Rugged Icons Dies, after my fellow CTCer, Rachel, posted some fabulous masculine cards using them. I thought that this card was a great opportunity to use them. After much debate I went for the mountains die - although I see pyramids every time I look at it! I'm sure they are meant to be mountains, as I don't think there are trees like that around the pyramids.

I layered some Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue cardstock on some copy paper before cropping it with the largest hexagon in the Beautiful Shapes Dies. I applied some Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Whisper White card and cropped it with the Rugged Icons die before adhering it to the hexagon.

I used a second die cut, in Balmy Blue, to decorate the inside. The sentiments are from the stamp set that's in the Light The Candles kit.

That's all from me for now, but we'd love for you to join us in making a card for this challenge. Do you have a favourite bundle from the Annual Catalogue? Or are you like me with no bundle, but a lovely card in the section that has caught your eye to CASE? Just add a photo to our Facebook group when you've made your card.

In the meantime, please do continue your way around our blog hop. The next stop is the lovely Peta Stephen, with a gorgeous Christmas card.

 Bye for now,

Tina
