JAI 642: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a sketch for you, designed for us by Kim.

I really loved the strip down the left side, and the way that the matt on the square panel disappears under the strip. It's such a fun idea. I decided to pull out my Taco Fiesta stamp set to play with.

The paper I used is long retired, from the Festive Birthday DSP pack. It suits the Taco Fiesta stamp set perfectly.

I stamped the guac and bowl with Memento ink, and then coloured them with my Stampin' Blends. I thought that the bowl looked a little plain, so I used a tiny strip of DSP that was floating in the pack to decorate the bowl. Problem solved!

Guac is nothing without corn chips, right? I just had to include them on the inside of my card!

A Whole Llama Fun

I mentioned last week in this post that I'd been asked to make a llama card for a friend to give to her daughter for there birthday. I actually made two cards, and today I have the second one for you.

Isn't it different? It's very cool how two vastly different cards can be made using the same stamp set. I used Shimmer paper for the front of the card, as I love the way the ink blends on it. I cut the 'celebrate' from Shimmer paper too so that it sort of disappeared into the front of the card, leaving the llama as the focus.

The background behind the llama was inspired by this card with a much cuter llama than mine, but beggars can't be choosers! My brief was a blue llama card, so I kept the sky to just Balmy Blue. Once again the llama was coloured with my watercolour pencils and blended with Clear Wink Of Stella.

I used a small strip of DSP on the inside to bring blue into the colour scheme again.

So what do you think? Which card would you have chosen? My friend loved both so much that she couldn't decide and took both of them! Now she's set for her daughter's next birthday too.

JAI #431: Just Add A Sketch

Hello to everyone joining us for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week it's a sketch challenge designed by me! I love designing sketches and then seeing how everyone interprets them.

How's that for a great sketch if I do say so myself? LOL! The leaf shape could be any shape really - let your imagination run free! I had a friend ask me to make a llama card for her daughter's birthday, so my leaf became a llama.

How much fun is this card? The llama stamps and papers are all retired now (thanks, Kelly, for sending me some samples!) and I had to dig deep into my cardstock stash for some Tempting Turquoise cardstock to match, but it was worth the effort.

Mr llama was coloured with my Early Espresso watercolour pencil and then blended with my clear Wink Of Stella pen. The sombrero was fussy cut from another sheet of the DSP, as was the blanket.

I used another stamped cactus and fussy cut sombrero to finish off the inside. I actually made two llama cards for my friend so that she had a choice, as I wasn't 100% certain the this one fit the brief of a blue llama card. I'll be back on Monday with the second card, and I'l let you know which got chosen then.
