Colour Creations: Summer Splash

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. I've missed the last couple of hops, as I was miserably ill with COVID. I'm not 100% yet, but well enough to make a card for this week's Summer Splash hop. I quite like the blue/green colour, and I think it has a very apt name!

I had Watercolour World sitting on my desk, so I decided to play with it this week. I used my Stamparatus to stamp it onto the DSP from the Unbounded Beauty pack. I actually stamped it twice, so the map shows up quite a bit darker than the Summer Splash DSP underneath.

I took longer to work out how to add a sentiment! I don't like covering lots of the map, so this small sentiment from Simply Said, cropped with a Nested Essentials Dies, was just the ticket.

I used a scrap of the DSP and another Simply Said sentiment to finish off the card. 

The next stop on tonight's hop is the lovely Rosa Leyden. I can't wait to see what she, and everyone else, has made this week!

Colour Creations: Azure Afternoon

Hi!

Thanks for once again joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are starting on the new Core Colours that are brand new to the SU colour range. It's a lovely bright blue, called Azure Afternoon.

I started with a piece of Boho Blue DSP from the Fresh As A Daisy pack and stamped Watercolour World on the paper with Azure Afternoon ink. I thought that the white-ish streaks in the paper looked a bit like wispy clouds. Which doesn't really make sense if you think about it - it you were looking at the Earth from above the clouds, you certainly wouldn't be able to see the whole of the globe at once. Silly me!

I layered some Vellum and a length of Herringbone Ribbon under my sentiment, which is from Days To Remember. Nice and simple, so that I don't detract too much from the globe image.

I stamped a portion of the image once again on the inside of my card. I had to include the part with Australia and New Zealand!

JAI 652: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge.  This week it's a Sketch Challenge - designed by me!

It took me a while to decide what I was going to use to create a card using the sketch this week, but once I had an idea I was off and racing.

I purchased this little world map stamp about 6 months ago. It's an Altenew set, called Mini Atlas. I wanted a world map stamp, and this was the best I could find. Would you believe, a couple of months later Stampin' Up! released Watercolour World. I love that I now have map stamps that are very different sizes. They work so well together.

The die cut compass is from Uniquely Creative, and is called NESW Die. I made sure that I applied Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Pretty Peacock cardstock before I cropped it using the die.

I used Mini Atlas again on the inside, this time in Pool Party ink. It's a great size for card inners.

Colour Creations: Sahara Sand

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are on the downhill run now with the colours! This week it's Sahara Sand's turn to shine. It's a tricky colour to describe - sort of a greenish, brownish gray, maybe? Either way, it's a great Neutral.

Brian King used it in a colour combo that makes me think of some Christmas papers that we had a couple of years ago. Lots of plaid and deer! I didn't use it to make a Christmas card - I'm not quite in that headspace yet.

I had to think very hard about how I could let this colour shine - it's usually a supporting or background colour. By using very small amounts of the other two colours, I think I succeeded in making it the hero colour.

Watercolour World was the perfect choice for a very neutral coloured card. I paired it with the stamp set from a new kit, Timeless Greetings. The sentiment works perfectly with the globe stamp.

I used the globe stamp from the kit on the inside of my card. I'm not convinced that it works here - it's maybe a bit too blobby? What do you think?

The next stop in our Blog Hop tonight is my lovely friend, Michele Taylor. She's a huge fan of Sahara Sand, so I can't wait to see what she's made with it.

Colour Creations: Petal Pink

Thanks for stopping by on your way around the latest Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are focusing on Petal Pink, which is one of my least favourite colours in the SU range. It's quite an orangey/peachy pink, and for me that makes it a difficult colour to work with.

I did like this combo from Brian King, so that became my starting point. I also received my first box of goodies from the new Mini and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues on Monday, so I decided to use some of my new things.

Top of my must-haves from the Mini Catalogue was the Watercolour World stamp set. I'm a sucker for anything map related! I used my Stamparatus to stamp the image onto Whisper White cardstock and then trimmed it for my card front. I decided to do something a little different and cut the image in two pieces. The right side of the globe went onto the left side of my card, and visa versa. I lost a bit of the middle (sorry Africa and Eastern Europe!), but I quite like the effect.

The double matted panels were layered over another new product - Country Gingham DSP. Gingham's another thing that I'm a sucker for! The sentiment is from Biggest Wish, fussy cut, popped up and layered over some Soft Sea Foam card and Vellum.

All of the same products were used on the inside. I contemplated using the middle piece of the map that I'd cut away from the front, but it didn't really look like a map without the rest of the image - just weird blobs of colour. A strip of the DSP had to suffice!
