Colour Creations: Calypso Coral

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Calypso Coral's turn. Like Cajun Craze, it's a colour that isn't a favourite of mine, but I do think that it has a valuable place in the colour range.

Brian King has paired it with two of our newer In Colours, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Isn't it a gorgeous combo? I decided to pull out an older set of dies and play with some watercolouring, as July is Watercolouring month.

I started by washing some Calypso Coral ink over a piece of Watercolour Paper. Once it dried, I cropped some of the solid poppy die from the Poppy Moments Dies. I repeated the process with Soft Succulent and the solid leaf die. The outline dies were used to crop the same colour cardstock, with Basic Black for the centres of the flowers.

I used a gorgeous piece of Lovely Linen DSP for the background. It features both of the greens with Basic White. I had the three Stitched Rectangle frames floating around on my desk, so added them to the card on a whim. I think it provides a nice base for the flowers to sit on, rather than floating in space.

I used the offcut DSP from the front to frame the inside of the card. The sentiments on my card are from Peaceful Moments, another old favourite. It's easy to forget about the oldies with the excitement of new stuff!

Please continue your way around our Calypso Coral blog hop by jumping on over to Theresa Gerrard's blog. You won't want to miss her gorgeous card.

If there are broken or missing links, the lady in the know is Catherine Proctor. Pop over to her blog, where you'l find a list of all of tonight's participants and you can get yourself back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

  1. Tiuna there is so much to look at in this gorgeous card. I love the Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen DSP, the rectangles and your watercolouring. I do prefer Calypso Coral water coloured rather than at full strength!

The use of Watercolouring on your card is beautiful Tina, the flowers really pop on that background with the stitched rectangle shapes

The frames were initially what struck me about your card Tina, they ‘lift’ the dark background considerably. Of course, those water coloured poppies are the main feature, as they deserve.

  9. Tina I have to sat that I had not seen that DSP in the catalogue. Its beautiful! although you are not a huge fan of the colour, you have used it beautifully and the poppies are so soft in colour.
