JAI 691: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Welcome to a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have an Inspiration Challenge for you, suggested to us by Kerry.

I love all of the moody blues in the collage, and my eye was drawn by the mandala-like circle on the left. Being the bookworm that I am, I also noticed that two of the images had books in them. There is so much to take from this image!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Uniquely Creative Read Past Your Bedtime, Waffleflower Layered Books Dies, Stampin' Up! Waves Of The Ocean DSP, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I delved into my retired papers for the basis of my card. The DSP is from the Waves Of The Ocean DSP. I chose a section of the paper that had a lot of dark blue, but also had touches of Coastal Cabana at the top. The white layer over the top was from my Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper pack. I popped it all over a Coastal Cabana Card base.

The stamped sentiment is from a Uniquely Creative stamp set, called Read Past Your Bedtime. Great advice, BTW, LOL! I paired it with some die cuts made using my Waffleflower Layered Books Dies.

The stamped sentiment on the inside is from a Three Room Studio stamp set, called One More Chapter. I also used offcuts from the DSP and laser cut paper from the front to decorate the insert. One final book, and the card was finished.

We'd love to see what takes your fancy from the Inspiration photo this week. There's soooo much to zoom in and look at. I'm sure that you'll create something magnificent, and when you do you can add it to the linky over on the Just Add Ink blog. You'll also find the rest of the Design Team's awesome creations on the blog.

Colour Creations: Pretty Peacock

 Hi!

Thanks for stopping by for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Pretty Peacock, a rich blue-green that I adore. Having said that, the mojo was a little AWOL this week, and I struggled to come up with ideas for a card. In the end I went ultra simple!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, Bright & Beautiful DSP, Biggest Wish

The DSP that I chose to use is from the Bright & Beautiful DSP pack. I'm a sucker for ombre, and when you add stripes in, it's right up my alley! I layered the paper onto a Pretty Peacock card base.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, Bright & Beautiful DSP, Biggest Wish

The simple sentiment is cropped using my Mini Alphabet dies. Conveniently, H and I are right beside each other, making the crop very easy! I first adhered some Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of my Whisper White cardstock before running it through my Big Shot. The foam gives lovely dimension to the letters without having to mess around with Dimensionals.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, Bright & Beautiful DSP, Biggest Wish

I used some left over DSP from the front of my card to decorate the inside. It's a great way to use up scraps! A stamped 'friend' from Biggest Wish, and I was done! It's a great multipurpose card that would be suitable for any friend.

The nest stop in tonight's Hop is my lovely friend, Andrea Sargent. I'm sure that she's made something magnificent using Pretty Peacock.

Colour Creations: Poppy Parade

 Hi!

Welcome to Poppy Parade week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's a bright, happy red that is my most used red. I was a bit time poor this week, and I had visions of doing a quick and simple card. Sigh. I should have known that it would end up a bit more complicated than I expected!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, TrustyToolbox DSP, Everyday Details Dies, Level Complete

Hehe, I decided to go with a pun to suit the Trusty Toolbox DSP. I used my Mini Alphabet Dies to cut the sentiment, and thanks to the doubled up letters on the die, I cut all that I needed in one pass through my Big Shot. Yay! The drill DSP was roughly cut, adhered to a piece of Thick Whisper White card and then fussy cut once dry. As I was popping it up over the Everyday Details die cut, the extra layer of cardstock helps to prevent sagging.

I was tempted to go with another pun on the inside, but I restrained myself. The Happy Birthday sentiment, from Level Complete, will have to do!

That's all from me this week, but please do keep making your way around all of tonight's blogs. The next stop is my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri. I'm sure that she'll have something fabulous for us to see.

JAI 689: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have a Colour Challenge for you, suggested to us by Rochelle.

For some of us, it really was a challenge! The colours are gorgeous, but I struggled so hard with working out what to do. My tried and true method in instances like this is to use mostly white, with little splashes of the other colours. It didn't quite work out that way in the end!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I started with a Waffle Flower die, called Book Cover Die. I used it to crop some Tahitian Tide ink... but it looked too plain. I used another Waffle Flower Die set, called Layered Books Die, to crop the Gorgeous Grape book spines. They are slightly larger than the spines in the Book Cover Die, but close enough!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

Unfortunately, I couldn't use the layering dies for the pages. I used the Book Cover Die to crop some Whisper White card, which I then hand cut to fit over the Tahitian Tide pages. I think the extra effort was worth it! A sentiment, from Three Room Studio's One More Chapter stamp set, finished off the front nicely.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I used a Gold Foil card as the base my card, but the Cover Die covered all of the gold foil edge! SO that I didn't waste it, I simply folded the card inside out and used it on the inside of the card. I used the One More Chapter stamp set and the Layered Book Dies to finish off the card.

We'd love to see what you do with these colours. They give a little bit of a tropical vibe to me. What do you think? You can see how the rest of the Design team used the combo on the Just Add Ink blog. You'll also find our Linky there when you're ready to add your card to the challenge gallery.

Colour Creations: Pool Party

 Hi!

Welcome to Pool Party week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. It's a lovely soft blue-green colour that I quite like. Much better than Petal Pink! I recently purchased the Lighter Than Air DSP and Everyday Details Dies, so I was keen to use them on my card.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Timeless Greetings, Lighter Than Air DSP, Everyday Details Dies, Nested Essentials Dies

I love the way that the detail from the die frames the art panel. The large spots are fabulous! I cropped the Lighter Than Air DSP in such a way that I could feature the Pool Party  hot air balloon in the centre of the frame. It looked a bit plain, so I cropped the same balloon from a second sheet and popped it up over the top.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Timeless Greetings, Lighter Than Air DSP, Everyday Details Dies, Nested Essentials Dies

I tried to double cut some cardstock using the dies for the sentiment panel, but I couldn't quite get it to work. Nested Essentials Dies to the rescue! A left over scrap of shimmery ribbon and a Rainbow Dot finished off the front of the card.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Timeless Greetings, Lighter Than Air DSP, Everyday Details Dies, Nested Essentials Dies

I used a left over strip of the DSP to decorate the inside of the card. The sentiments that I've used are from the Timeless Greetings kit. Don't forget those kit stamp sets!

Please keep making your way around our hop tonight until you get back to your starting point. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan. I can't wait to see what she's made.

CTC 456: SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we have returned to the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue for inspiration.

It's a little catalogue, but it's jam packed with fabulous projects for you to CASE.

I picked this cute Jungle Pals card from page 12. I loved the three strips that are all the same, but different.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up! More Wishes, Flight & Airy DSP, Layered Florals 3DEF, Sale-A-Bration

I just received an order with some new products, so I was keen to play with them. The birds on the Flight & Airy DSP worked perfectly on my modified version of the sketch. I cut a smaller version of the strips and layered them om some Whisper White card, popped up over a Boho Blue Layered Flowers embossed card base.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up! More Wishes, Flight & Airy DSP, Layered Florals 3DEF, Sale-A-Bration

I glued a pice of the bird DSP on some Whisper White cardstock, and then fussy cut to once dry. It was then popped up over the strips of DSP. The sentiment is from More Wishes, and was cropped with a Nested Essentials Die.

Some more birds were used to finish off the inside of the card. Aren't they pretty!

We'd love for you to play along with us by CASEing a card from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and uploading a picture to our Facebook group. We'd love to see what you make.

Please continue making your way around our Blog Hop. The next stop is the lovely Peta Stephen, who has created a gorgeous card - you won't want to miss it.

JAI 688: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Welcome to another week of Just Add Ink challenges. This week we have a fabulous Choose Two challenge for you, suggested to us by Lou.

We'd like you to Choose Two of Sequins, Stars or Stitching to add to your card. I immediately thought of my Stitched Stars dies, which meant that I got my two in one go!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Showtime Limited Edition Kit, Copics, Pop Culture Card

I've been doing a bit of rearranging in my craft space and picked up the Showtime Limited Edition kit from Kindred Stamps. I thought that this little piggy was the perfect choice to go with sequins, stars and stitching. I coloured her with my Comic markers and popped her up over the foil Stitched Stars die cuts on top of some Expressions In Ink SDSP.

I love the swirly star die cut on the front of the card, especially as you end up with five stars that can be used to decorate there rest of your card. I used three on the front and the final two to jazz up the inside of my card.

We'd love to see which two elements you choose from our challenge this week. You can see what the Design Team chose over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also find our Linky when you're ready to enter your card in the challenge.

Colour Creations: Petal Pink

 Hi!

Welcome to Petal Pink week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Are you a fan of the soft, peachy pink? I am not! I much prefer a pinker pink, LOL! I did have fun playing with Petal Pink ink this week, though. My first SAB order arrived, and I had full intentions of making a card using my Lighter Than Air DSP, but I got completely sidetracked by my Paper Butterfly Accents.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, Paper Butterfly Accents, Rainbow Builder Dies

I used a cloud mask with a Blending Brush and Petal Pink and Pumpkin Pie inks to create the cloudy sky. Hopefully the colours make you think of a sunset or sunrise. I used Petal Pink along the edge of the mask, with Pumpkin Pie along the top of the pink - just soft layers that blended nicely. The butterflies were popped up over the top using Dimensionals. Can you spot another new product? The Mini Alphabet dies are so cute. I love the chunky font.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Mini Alphabet Dies, Paper Butterfly Accents, Rainbow Builder Dies

I didn't add a sentiment to the inside yet, just more cloud and a smaller butterfly. This card is very multipurpose, so I'll stamp a sentiment (or not) when I know what I'm going to do with it.

It's time to move on now to the next blog in our hop, which is the blog of my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri. I can't wait to see what she's made.

Our fabulous host and troubleshooter is the wonderful Cathy Proctor. If you run into any problems with links, just pop on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

JAI 687: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Welcome to a new week of Just Add Ink Challenges. This week we have a sketch for you, designed by Kim. I love how the Design Team have shown off the versatility of this sketch!

I needed to make a card for a great nephew, who was turning one. I decided that my Wiggle Worm stamp set and the coordinating Wiggly Bugs dies would be the perfect choice.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Wiggle Worm Bundle, Sunshine & Rainbows DSP

I also used some Sunshine & Rainbows DSP on my card. I used the various papers from the pack to create the scene. The die cut grass was a great way to emphasis the line through the middle of the sketch.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Wiggle Worm Bundle, Sunshine & Rainbows DSP

I used the leaf as the rectangle element of the sketch, and popped the cute little bug on top. I also couldn't resist adding a toadstool to the sentiment banner.

The left over DSP piece from the grass die cut was used on the inside of my card, along with a few more toadstools. Hopefully my great nephew will love the card.

Jump on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the amazing cards that the Design Team have made for this week's challenge. You can also find the linky to add your card to the challenge gallery. We'd love to see what you do with the sketch.
