JAI 707: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have a sketch for you, designed by Kim.

I quite like that the only design element is the half circle on the side, although I did flip my half circle to the other side of the card. Once I'd worked out which stamp set that I wanted to use, it made more sense.

I used Unsinkable, from Kindred Stamps. I coloured the glamorous lady using mix of Stampin' Blends and Copics. Her dress is coloured with Fresh Freesia and Misty Moonlight, and her hair is using the E 13 - 18 Copic markers. I layered her over some retires Waves Of The Ocean DSP, and swished a little Wink Of Stella over her dress - a fancy dress needs a bit of sparkle!

I couldn't resist using a wood print from Wood Textures DSP as the half circle element, cropped with the largest circular Everyday Details Die. I thought that using the wood print tied in nicely with the sentiment.

The other half of the couple is on the inside of the card. He was much easier to colour! I think that I will put this card away for my next wedding anniversary, however that's not until April, so hopefully I don't forget about it in the meantime!

We'd love to see what you do with the sketch this week. You can see what the Design Team did over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also add your card to the Linky when you are ready. We can't wait to see what you make!

Bye for now,

Colour Creations: Azure Afternoon

 Hi!

Thanks for joining us for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Azure Afternoon, a gorgeous mid-blue that is a part of the Brights colour family. I decided to play with some new products.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Something For Everything Ephemera, Simply Said, Dotted Circles 3DEF

I started by embossing the background cardstock using the Dotted Circles 3DEF. Isn't it gorgeous? I love that it's an extra big folder (6 x 8 1/2 inches) so that you can play with the placement of the centre circle. I wanted it offset so that I could use it to highlight the boat.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Something For Everything Ephemera, Simply Said, Dotted Circles 3DEF

Speaking of the boat, and the lighthouse and sun, they are from the new Something For Everything Ephemera Pack. I pretty much just popped them out of the sheet, added some Dimensionals and adhered them to my card. So easy! Because the background is so textured, I added a little bit of Tombow adhesive to the Dimensionals to make them extra grippy.

The sentiments on my card are from the Simply Said stamp set. I couldn't resist adding a second boat to the inside of the card.

That's all from me for tonight, but there's lots more to see on our Blog Hop tonight. Please continue your way around the blogs, with my lovely friend Ros Davidson coming up next.

As always, Cathy Proctor does a marvellous job of keeping everyone organised. If you run into any problems with links, just pop on over to her blog, where she'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

JAI 705: Just Add A Fancy Edge

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week, Lou has suggested that we add a Fancy Edge to our cards.

This one required a bit of thinking from me - probably something to do with the post-COVID bring fog! Then I remembered that I had this yet-to-be-used Game Controller Die by Scrappy Boy Stamps. That's about as fancy as my stash gets!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Scrappy Boy Stamps Game Controller Die, Stampin' Up! Level Complete

Not a straight edge to be seen! The die set has lots of layers and little fiddly bits and pieces to add to the base. Some were easy enough to glue on, but for others I pulled out my adhesive sheets. Very handy! There are lots of opportunities to mix and match colours, but I stuck with a fairly classic colour combo. You can't go too wrong with red, white and black!

I used a stamp from the retired Level Complete stamp set for the inside. I like that it could either be a birthday or a congrats card!

We'd love to see how you interpret the 'Fancy Edge' theme this week. You can see what the rest of the Design Team made over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also link your card up to the challenge when you're ready.

Colour Creations: Summer Splash

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. I've missed the last couple of hops, as I was miserably ill with COVID. I'm not 100% yet, but well enough to make a card for this week's Summer Splash hop. I quite like the blue/green colour, and I think it has a very apt name!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Watercolour World, Simply Said, Unbounded Beauty DSP, Nested Essentials Dies

I had Watercolour World sitting on my desk, so I decided to play with it this week. I used my Stamparatus to stamp it onto the DSP from the Unbounded Beauty pack. I actually stamped it twice, so the map shows up quite a bit darker than the Summer Splash DSP underneath.

I took longer to work out how to add a sentiment! I don't like covering lots of the map, so this small sentiment from Simply Said, cropped with a Nested Essentials Dies, was just the ticket.

I used a scrap of the DSP and another Simply Said sentiment to finish off the card.

The next stop on tonight's hop is the lovely Rosa Leyden. I can't wait to see what she, and everyone else, has made this week!

JAI 701: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have an Inspiration challenge for you, suggested to us by Nikki.

Isn't it fab? The chairs look very comfy, and the floral decorations are gorgeous. I thought about stamps that I had that featured chairs, and settled on I Heart Books, by Three Room Studio.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Three Room Studio I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Clearly Besotted Bedtime Story, Stampin' Up! Stylish Shapes Dies, Abstract Beauty DSP

I don't know that I'd be able to sit/lay like that and read anymore, but definitely when I was a teen! I coloured the image with my Stampin' Blends, using colours from the image. I couldn't resist adding a pink streak to her blonde hair.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Three Room Studio I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Clearly Besotted Bedtime Story, Stampin' Up! Stylish Shapes Dies, Abstract Beauty DSP

The sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted set, called Bedtime Story. Unsurprisingly to those who know me, I have quite a collection of book/reading themed stamps!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Three Room Studio I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Clearly Besotted Bedtime Story, Stampin' Up! Stylish Shapes Dies, Abstract Beauty DSP

Haha, I could't resist adding this 'Ssshhh' stamp to the inside, along with a pile of books. Both are from another Three Room Studio set, called One More Chapter. When you're that involved in a book, the last thing you want is to be interrupted!

We'd love for you to play along this week. The Design Team have been fabulously creative in how they've taken inspiration from the challenge photo. What do you see in it? We'd love to know, and you can show us by adding your card to our Linky on the Just Add Ink blog.

Colour Creations: Petunia Pop

 Hi!

Welcome to week two of the new Colour Creations Blog Hop series. We are starting with the new In Colours, and this week it's Petunia Pop's turn to shine. I can't decide if it's purple or pink - I think that the answer would depend on which colours you put with it.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Simply Said, Paper Butterfly Accents, Unbounded Beauty DSP

I saw a gorgeous card by Connie Babbert of Inkspired Treasures that I decided to CASE. She used a black die cut floral sprig over a Petunia Pink and Whisper White base that I adored. I don't have the dies she used, so I chose to use a paper butterfly instead.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Simply Said, Paper Butterfly Accents, Unbounded Beauty DSP

I coloured the butterfly with my Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blend, giving it several coats to get a good, black colour. It's popped up using Black Mini Dimensionals.

I added a smaller butterfly, also coloured, to the inside over the top of some Petunia Pop ink that I applied with a Blending Brush. A little bit of that ink goes a looooong way! The sentiments that I used on my card are from a new stamp set, called Simply Said. I'm going to get a LOT of use out of that stamp set, I think!

The next stop on tonight's Blog Hop is my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri. I can't wait to see what she's made tonight.

As ever, the spectacular Cathy Proctor keeps us all organised, so if you have any problems with broken links, just pop on over to her blog. You'll find a list of all tonight's participants there to help get you back on track.

Bye for now,

Tina

PS. I still can't decide if it's pink or purple! What do you think?

JAI 700: Just Add Shimmer Or Shine

 Hi!

Wow! Can you believe that Just Add Ink is celebrating its 700th challenge! How exciting! Fittingly, Rochelle has challenged us to add Shimmer or Shine to our cards. What fun!

I sent a day thinking about what stamps I had to fit this challenge, and finally settled on this awesome stamp from Ink Road Stamps, Expecto Stampo Vol 2.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Ink Road Stamps Expecto Stampo Vol 2

I started by using my Stamparatus to stamp the image onto Whisper White card using Memento ink. Luckily that I did use the Stamparatus, as I needed to ink the stamp a few times to get a solid impression. I hadn't yet used the stamp, and I mustn't have cleaned it properly first. I then masked it off and inked around it using blending brushes and Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel and Night Of Navy Inks. I left a little white halo around the lantern.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Ink Road Stamps Expecto Stampo Vol 2

I cropped the panel with a Stitched rectangles die and then spritzed it with an Isocol and Champagne Shimmer Paint mix. You can see a few flecks of the shimmer in the photo, but IRL it's so much more! The mask was removed and the lamp was coloured with a metallic gold pen. The flame was coloured with a dark Daffodil Delight Blend, and the banner was coloured with my Pool Party Blends.

So there you have my shining lantern on a shimmery card! What will you make for the challenge? Will you shimmer, shine, or both? We'd love to see! Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll see what the Design team have made for the challenge. You'll also find our Linky to add your card to.

Bye for now,

Tina
