Hi!
It's Colour Creations Showcase time! Yay! Although, I must admit that I find it difficult to get excited about this week's colour - Crushed Curry. I really am not a big fan of yellow, so I found it difficult to start creating this week. In the end I was inspired by
my own card from last time we did the Colour Creations, where I used Crushed Curry Ink to colour the negative space on the card.
Last time I watercolored to apply the ink - this time I masked the large floral image from Ornate Style and used a blending brush to apply the ink, but just in a 'halo' around the flowers.
Making the masks was quite fiddly. I had to make two so that I could cover both sets of flowers. I stamped the image on two fully adhesive sticky notes. If you can find these they are fabulous, as the entire mask will stick down, not just one edge. The masks were fiddly because I snipped out all the tiny sections without flowers so that the colour would be applied there too. Fiddly, but worth it, I think!
I repeated the technique again on the inside. You can see that on each set of flowers I coloured the centres with my Crushed Curry Marker. The white of the flowers was a little too white, and needed a touch of something to break up all the white.
Even though I find Crushed Curry a tricky colour, I'm very pleased with this card! You can find the rest of this week's Crushed Curry cards over on Catherine's Blog. She does a wonderful job of keeping us all organised every week!
Bye for now,
Tina
Definitely worth the trouble of making those fiddly masks, Tina! This is gorgeous. I love the blended ink around the black and white stamped image - a really striking way to showcase that lovely stamp, and our happy, rich, feature colour this week. :)
ReplyDeleteNow I just need a clue as to where to get the full sticky notes. LOVE this card with the background coloured, and the inside is just as special.
ReplyDeleteI love the fresh look to your card, Tina. Simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFiddly, but definitely worth it, such a stunning card! I really love it Tina!
ReplyDeleteA stunning card Tina. So love the way you showcased Crushed Curry. It is so good as a background to the floral arrangement and as the flower centres. I applaud your patience to cut out the masks - but certainly worth the effort. xxx
ReplyDeleteThis card is so definitely worth the fiddly masking it gives a wonderful effect - so fresh and vibrant. Thank you for sharing your Crushed Curry inspiration with us this week xx
ReplyDeleteWell for not liking yellow your card is gorgeous and to make a mask for these flowers is a big effort! Fantastic card Tina!
ReplyDeleteOh my, this looks amazing. All that work to create the masks is so worth it and hey, now you have the masks, you can make more in other colours ;)
ReplyDeleteAll you fussy cutting was worth the effort Tina as this is a stunning card. What a great technique for those lovely larger blooms. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOnce again a lovely card Tina and so much work to create the masks but very worth it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing job with the masking and inking, well worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteStunning card Tina, and worth the effort of masking. Great job.
