JAI #180: Just Add Colouring

Gee, the weeks are flying by!

 

Time for another Just Add Ink challenge! This week Nikki has challenged us to add colouring to our projects.  You can watercolour, use markers, crayons, whatever you like to colour your image.  I chose to watercolour on my card.

 

I used a new stamp set called You're My Hero.  It's a great one for boys cards.  I also used my new favourite set Gorgeous Grunge to create the background.

I used watercolour paper to stamp on and colour the image.  It's fabulous quality paper, perfect for watercolouring. I used my Real Red and Daffodil Delight inkpads to colour the image.

I also coloured the police car in the stamp set using Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight. A cute finishing touch for the inside of the card.

A Daydream medallions CASE

Woops!  Looks like Wednesday snuck up on me and I forgot about blogging this morning!

Today's card is one I used for a couple of parties I ran in July.  It's a CASE from the Annual Catalogue.  You can find the original card on page 114.

I kept the colour scheme and stamp set but I changed a few things.  Instead of stamping each layer onto the one piece of cardstock we stamped each layer separately and then cut them using the coordinating Floral Frames Framelits.

Every second layer was popped up on Dimensionals.  I also used Vintage Faceted Buttons for the centre.  It is such a pretty card and I think everyone enjoyed making it.

The inside of my card is fairly plain, but at the parties we stamped some of the smaller Medallions stamps.

Epic Day This And That Journal: This Is 38

Hi!

I was pretty excited when Stampin' Up! released the Epic Day Smash Album.  I bought one as soon as I could, and then thought "OK, now what am I going to do with it?" There was a part of me thinking it was too pretty to use, but I squashed her back in her box.  I had a few ideas, but in the end I decided to use it as a kind of diary for a year of my life.

I sat down last week to decorate the front.  And then I got a blank. I ended up starting with the numbers.  I turned 38 last week, so it was a good starting point. I wanted them to stand out, so I covered them with some of the brighter paper from the Epic Day DSP pack.

I love the coordinating Hexagon punch for stress free creating! I simply punched a few, sponged them and adhered them onto the cover.  I had previously stamped Off The Grid over the cover, and also Flowering Flourishes.

I used Notable Alphabet to stamp the rest of the title. I chose the title "This Is 38" as I want this book to be a keepsake of my life this year, so my family can look back and know what I was like at 38.  I will aim to keep it about me - not the kids, not Rob, just me.  It will be a challenge, as most mums love talking about their kids and family!

This is the inside of the front cover.  I took a selfie photo on my birthday so when I print it, it will go here and I will write some bits about myself.  I'm really looking forward to completing this album all about me!

JAI #179: Just Add A Sketch

Friday once more, so another Just Add Ink challenge!

This week Mae has designed a sketch for us to use.  Interpret it how you'd like, but the sketch must be the inspiration for your card.

I chose to make a very literal interpretation of the sketch using some of my new goodies from the new Annual Catalogue.

This was my first play with Gorgeous Grunge, Off The Grid and Smoky Slate.  Love them all!

I cut the arrow shape from the Smoky Slate layer using a punchie for a template and then popped it up on Dimensionals to give it a better effect.

Some complimentary stamping on the inside.  The clock was originally meant for the front, but I felt it needed more than just the red hands.  I restamped one for the front that had the red body, but didn't want to waste the grey one, so I used it on the inside.

JAI Scrap #20: Just Add Digital

Hi!

I know, I'm really late with this layout, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

 

This month Ruthy has challenged us to go digital in our layouts.  A great challenge for me, as I'm really loving playing with My Digital Studio.  I went completely digital, but you could try hybrid if full digital is a bit scary!  Hybrid just means you use bits of both - it could be as simple as printing a title you made on the computer and adding it to your paper layout.

I love the convenience of being able to scrap with any photos you have on your computer, and not having to wait until you've been to the shop to print some off!  These photos were of my kids having a wonderful time in these inflatable balls that you get into and then roll around in a pool.  They had an awesome time!

More Blown Ink Cards

Hi!

In my last post I showed you a couple of blown ink cards that I'd made as samples for a Children's Cards Class.  I was having so much fun playing with ink blowing that I decided to make a couple more.

For these cards I stuck to one colour of ink for the blown bits. I think I used Rose Red paired with Daffodil Delight (it was a long time ago!!).

I used the new Label Love stamp for the sentiment and the retired slot punch to create holes to fed the ribbon through.

The cards were made for my twin nieces, who were turning 7.  One likes pink and the other likes yellow, hence the colour schemes for the cards.

The Daffodil Delight ink takes longer to absorb into the cardstock, so the splatters were a bit bigger.

Here they are side by side.  They were so much fun to make.

Blown Ink Technique

Hi!

A couple of months ago I ran a Children's Cards Class.  While a bit stuck for ideas for the class I decided to have a bit of a look on the internet.  My first stop was Ros Davidson's blog, as she is the queen of kid's cards. I didn't have to look far before finding these cards which became the inspiration for my class cards.

Don't they look fab!! I was really pleased with the bright rainbow effect. I made two cards using the technique, as it was so much fun.

The sentiment is from the retired I Dig You stamp set.  I kept it nice and simple so it didn't detract from the ink rainbow.

An old favourite, Sassy Salutations for the inside.

Here's the two cards side by side.  I love how you can do the same thing but get totally different results each time.
