Hi!
Welcome to Crumb Cake week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop! Hands up, who loves Crumb Cake? MMMMMEEEEE!!! It's such great neutral colour. Having said that, I was very stuck for inspiration this week. It can be tough making a colour that is usually a background or complimentary colour, a feature colour on a card. I was very happy with my end result, though.
I pulled out my Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and the coordinating Sunflower Dies, just because I haven't used them in a while. I started by cropping a few layers of an old sewing pattern with the large solid sunflower die. I then layered a Basic Black outline diecut over the top, with a Crumb Cake centre.
The background of my card was created by stamping the large sunflower stamp in Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake card. I then used a Blending Brush to apply Crumb Cake ink to the edges of the piece, and finished by flicking some Crumb Cake ink over the top. I was so thrilled with how it turned out.
I finished the inside with another diecut from the Sunflowers Dies. The sentiment is from Peaceful Moments.
Thanks for spending a little time on my blog with me tonight. Next up on the Hop is Michele Taylor - I always love the cards she makes!

You should be happy with your card Tina, it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow Tina, you should definitely be happy with how this card turned out. I love the way you've incorporated ephemera into the card and I love, love, love this colour combination too.
ReplyDeleteThis may well be my favourite of all the cards you've ever made, Tina! I, too, am a huge fan of Crumb Cake. I love that you used a sewing pattern for the petals, and stamped the sunflowers repeatedly tone-on-tone on the background panel (and that you blended Crumb Cake ink around the edges, and incorporated splatters!). The black accents look fab against Crumb Cake. Nice job. :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly should be happy, this is gorgeous, Tina. Very clever using an old sewing pattern to mimic DSP; not sure I would be game to cut into one of those!!! The black adds a fantastic dramatic effect.
ReplyDeleteThis is super-special Tina. The navy against Crumb Cake is wonderful, and the faint background stamping really grounds the image. Funnily enough, I've used this stamp today for a blog in a few days. LOL, great minds etc...
ReplyDeleteI love your card this week. I think it is one of my favourites, ever! The fine lines of the black die cut look amazing with the sewing pattern behind it (at first I thought it was book paper). The subtle sunflowers stamped in the background on the crumb cake, it is all just wow!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful card Tina and love the use of the old sewing paper as well as the faintly stamped flowers and ink splattered on the background. Really lovely!
ReplyDeleteI’m in love. Your card is so so gorgeous. The various elements work together so well - the sewing pattern for the petals, the tone on tone stamping on the background with blending over the edges, the subtle touches of embellishments which is all striking with the black outline of the flower and leaves. So good. Xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card Tina. Love the Basic Black elements.
ReplyDeleteTina your card is fabulous. One of my favourites. The contrast of the black and Crumb Cake is great and the way you have used the sewing patterns behind the diecut is stunning. Perfect background too.
ReplyDeleteWow using an old sewing pattern for the base of the sunflower is inventive. The addition of black to the crumb cake is stunning. Lovely card
